Yes, sure hope we don't get much, I have to take my daughter-in-law to Phila airport tomorrow. She flys back to CA where my son is stationed in the Air Force. Did anybody hear any updated weather reports?

My very first "serious" boyfriend lived in Allentown, but that was many,many years ago. I am looking forward to meeting many of you at the DisMeet in July. The kid's rooms are fun. We play Dingo, which is Disney Bingo. The kidlets get prizes and a good time is had by all. In addition, my nephews help me out and do lots of "heavy duty" pin trading. They have no idea what anything is worth, but they have a great time just trading with anyone that will trade with them.

I just heard a trace to an inch for Philly, 1-3" here in the Lehigh Valley, 3-6" in the Poconos. The last few storms we had that called for 1-3" we ended up just getting a trace so I'll believe it when I see it!

OK Ladies,

I need some help. I have a daughter who was volunteering at an Equine rescue in Quakertown, but since we have moved, we are now about 90 minutes away from the place. So, I'm wondering if any of you know of a rescue place closer to Schuylkill Haven that I can take her to for some volunteering. She absolutly loves animals so this sort of thing is right up her alley.

Oh here's another question... Any WAWA's close to Schuylkill Haven or is the one on Broadcasting Road the closest? This is a legit question, I'm going thru serious withdrawls....

Tracy - I don't know of any Wawa's up there but I don't go through there enough to really know. There is a Sheetz near Pottsville/Minersville, right there at the light by Pizza Hut & Dunkin Donuts (now that's my kind of intersection!)

My best friend is from Hamburg, I will ask her if she knows of any animal rescue places or shelters out that way that your DD could volunteer some time to. It's great to get kids involved in volunteering.

sorry no wawa's around! I'm not sure about any equine rescues around sorry! maybe call the local SPCA's and ask them if they know of some place?

Don't have anything fruitful to add to the thread, just want to say that I was just thru the Pitman/Hegins area the other week. I grew up in Shamokin (I beleive that's the "big city" of the area...LOL) and my Aunt lives in Gowen City. I stopped in to visit her on the way back here and did 125 down to Good Spring while meandering my way back to 78....nice drive...

Ya know that 4 way stop in good spring? well until about 2002 it was actually a 3 way stop.. I was the cause of the 4 way stop. I was in a VERY VERY VERY awful accident at that intersection! I'll be heading over to Shamokin tonight to do some shopping at walmart, big city? nahhh Just bigger city than most I think pottsville is the "big city".

Hi NedsTJ! Most people I know won't admit they know anyone in Shamokin! Ok I'll admit it, yes I have some family there too. I'm now in the Lehigh Valley as well. Well actually I was born here but everyone else in the family is from "up home."

HelenePA having that info now makes me want to take a trip to Good Spring to see that 4-way stop.

Anyone know if Rickert's Ice Cream is sitll in Gordon?

Tara, I had no idea you had family in Shamokin. My grandparents live in Catawissa, and I used to play tennis at a country club in Shamokin when I worked at Knoebels.

Maybe we could have a mini Dismeet at Knoebels? Fun, food, and fantasy...

Tara Dh said that the ice cream place as been gone for at least 15 yrs now. I'm not familiar with that area at all, he grew up outside of ashland.

tiggerfan4me I'm dying to get down there at christmas time! I dont see it happening this year Maybe next year but we'll be ttcing again this spring so who knows with a new baby and everything. After the new Christmas holiday show on the travel channel it REALLY made me want to go!

Small world Jessamy! I went to Knoebels every summer while I visited my grandparents up that way. My first real date was at Knoebels!! I should dig out the photo booth pictures we took that night. It was August 1986...

TiggerFanForMe & Linda - I'd LOVE to take a quick girls trip to The World, I know Tracy & Pam have on planned for early October. I'll pop in on that one at the last minute if it fits in my plans. I can't plan this far ahead, I'm more a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants tripper. If I go I usually plan it & go within a month or two. So if any of you ladies are going in late fall keep me posted. DH has lots of FF miles & Starwood points that I can cash in quickly if I need to!

Helene - thanks for checking on Rickerts Ice Cream. I went to summer camp in 1983 with their son Chris, who went on to become a state champ wrestler for North Schuykill in the late 80's. We kept in touch & we stopped in there to eat every time we were up that way. His younger brother killed himself in the 80's too, that was a sad time for the whole area. We lost touch soon after that & I always wondered if the ice cream shop was still there. They were a really nice family.

They're still saying 1-3" here in the Lehigh Valley but we have a good 3 inches on the ground already. Roads are BAD. DH drove home from Baltimore this afternoon & got stuck going up a hill. He said it took a lot of rocking & spinning to get traction to make it up the hill. There is a car stuck out on our road right now, it keeps backing down & trying to get up, but is spinning.
