 I don't work at Disney (wouldn't be a bad thing if I did tho  )....but I'd love to hear more about what your son does there.

The DIS CAST MEMBER under my username is "status" here on the DIS. Obviously, I been around a while and have quite a few posts. New people that join the DIS, are "Earning My Ears"...newer people...see?? *sigh* it's all about "how long ya been around".....

Oh neat, a PA thread! I am from Philly (well I just moved over the border to the Abington area last month - but I still work in Philly and consider it my home ;) ). Hi!

I'm from Lansdowne, PA (Delaware County) but now live in Delaware. My mom is still living in the house I grew up in. Great little town. Hi to all the PA people!!!

Hey it was great to finally meet a DIS-er - and WHAT an adorable son!!!!!

:snooty: j/k homie...

Let me know when you plan a VF visit.... like I said, I'm only 10-15 minutes away... My Grandpop lives on Red Lion Rd. near ArchBishop Ryan HS. Down the street from the shopping center on the corner (Acme) and his house is across the street from the baseball field. He used to have a 'monster' evergreen in his front yard, and 2 years ago, donated it for a Christmas tree (can't remember if it was the city or state he donated it to....think it was city tho). I have other family on Alton St. in the Northeast and Longshore Ave (off Unruh St) in NE. I used to live on Whitaker Ave near the old Sears building they torn down/blew up.

Wow, I am like 10 minutes from your Grandpop. I live on the other side of the Roosevelt Blvd. at Byberry Road (down wind from Nabisco, which I will NEVER get used to calling Kraft).. I grew up near Longshore and Unruh - really are kinda neighbors. I hope to get up to VF in the not too distant future to do some holiday shopping. I will keep you posted. Let me know if you are in this area, too. It really is a small world (oh, no - not that song again!!!).

Thanks Tara :goodvibes ! It was great to meet you as well. I'm sure we'll run into you alot since DS is always begging to stop and smell the candles!

Hi Flamingomo - welcome to this site. Isn't it awesome to chat with so many "neighbors". :hippie:

Tarapa - i saw in a post you said you work at Yankee, is that the one at the Promenade Shops?? If so I will have to look for you when I am there next, I always have to stop in when I get down there! So nice you had a little DIS meet today!:)

HA! KIDS nuthin'....I want to spend more time outside!!! But, sounds like we "sing the same song" .... I originally wanted to live near the beach, but second thought that....they do, after all, have hurri's ...so, I think I'd like more inland....maybe 1/2 hour -45 min. trip to the parks

True about the hurricane's and living too close to the shore. I do love a trip to the Jersey shore, but I wouldn't want to live there year round. My BIL lives in Newport Richey and my cousins in Olsmar, both outside of Tampa, but the insurance due to the hurricanes is now killing them. I would stay inland, too. I still have to convince DH that Florida is a better place to retire than Arizona (ugh - not that I have ever been there and he has, but it doesn't sound appealing). Of course, we have to wait until we retire, which, at the rate we are going, will be like another 10 years.

Yes Belle's Mom Tink, it's Yankee Candle at The Promenade. I'm usually there 3-4 days during the week, like 10-3:30, and then sometimes on the weekends too. Please stop in & say hello! A few of us on the Coping & Compassion Board tried to meet up this week but we couldn't work it in our schedules, so GraysMom was nice enough to at least stop in & say hi with her son. The fire pit by Starbucks is a nice place to meet up sometime!

DH, DD and I went to Hershey for the first time in a couple of years with my friend from work and her "crew". We were looking forward to checking out the new Boardwalk section. The whole park was sooooooo crowded:headache: It was the week before schools went back and maybe earlier in the season was better, but the crowds were unreal.:crowded: We hardly got to do any rides. DH and DD love the "wilder" rides, by I am a real chicken, and there wasn't all that much to do, especially w/o DS to keep me company......lol. Really can't even compare it to WDW, that's for sure. Of course, when my kids were younger and we couldn't take them out of school, we suffered the Disney crowds and heat of August and that was no picnic either. Still, there is more to do for those of us with tamer tastes and the last week of August is (slightly) less crowded as far as summer crowds go.

It was crowded all summer long! DS and I have made about 15 trips this summer and didn't once enjoy the Boardwalk. The nice thing about being 1/2 hour away is being able to leave when the crowds get to ugly.

I think Hershey's Boardwalk was a bigger success than they anticipated. The crowds were unreal and I don't think they stay open after the "season", which is a shame because the weather has been beautiful. It would be nice to only be a 1/2 hour away, but Philly is a good area, reasonable rides to Hershey, Poconos, Jersey shore, etc.

Abington is just a hop, skip and jump away from Philly. Do you work in the city? I do - 5th and Walnut Sts. :woohoo:

:rotfl: yep....it will always be "Nabisco" to us...can't get used to the Kraft thing.... (how did you LIVE with that smell? I'd want to eat all the time!) :rotfl: I have a pretty good idea where you are....my Grandmom is buried in the cemetary on Byberry Rd. We will have to keep in touch....holidays are right around the corner :headache: ....literally!

Tell DH that AZ isn't as much FUN as Fl.... that's our plan too....but, early retirement (only want to work part time or not at all).... Our plan was to move when our mortgage was paid off. Well, we did some math, and realized Bubba would be like 12 or 13 years old when that happened. DH & I both moved a lot when we were that age, so we don't want to move Bubba at that age. So, we wait till he graduates high school...2017! :lmao: We'll just plunk away at college in the meantime.... DH always says Bubba's graduation gift is a "For Sale" sign in the front yard! :rotfl2:

I hear you. DH and I have been married and living in this house for 26 years and still haven't paid it off :rotfl: Now we have college loans to pay off, so retirement doesn't seem to be in the immediate future. I agree with you on that Arizona thing - yuk!! If the kids ever get independant  Guess we need to see where they end up (probably still right here), but I'm looking forward to "The Sunshine State".

Hey, by the way "teach" :teacher: In order to go to one or more boards (which you mentioned last night after I called it quits) - do you open a new page or is there an easier way????

You make me feel old.... :rotfl: ...like I been around here forever....

Not really sure what you mean, but the easiest way to jump "topics" is to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page where it says "Forum Jump". Just click on the drop-down and click on where you want to go. Is that what you are referring to?
