Hi i'm from P.A.!!!!

Anyone hear from ANTS lately? Hope her parents are OK. Can't imagine what she is going through.

Can't believe the devastation over in China & Myrinmar right now. All those people. :grouphug:

I haven't heard anything yet either. I think she was going to be home by Monday or Tuesday. Here's hoping everything is ok! Yes, she said her parents were in China. I don't know where. I just hope it wasn't close to the devastation of the earthquake.

You know, I forgot to ask you about renting points at our meet. So how did you go about it? Did you use the thread on the DIS? Was is really a savings? Once you were there, I'm assuming you didn't have mousekeeping. Did you have sheets & towels provided??? Would you do it again? Just a few questions. :rotfl:

Hi guys... I got in Tuesday morning and went straight to work till 2AM .. went home crashed and went back Wednesday to work at 4PM to 1AM...

The trip was OK.. my aunt had a great time even though she had blsiters left and right.. she wont listen.. it was crazy... she turned 60 on mothers day and I felt like I was with a 6 year old.. very stubborn woman... now I know why I am like this...

My parents flew to the Philippines this past Sunday the day before the quake. Mom felt that she can get more help having my cousin and uncle taking care of my dad (they are both practising doctors) which was a blessing.. they were in Beijing. I almost fainted when I heard about the quake. They just landed when news started getting wired. It was a big blessing:worship: that my dad had an argument with one of the nurses and had the need to check out. When my dad was with me I used to take care of all his bloodwork.. well he got spoiled with me.. now he compares my work to the peeps who draws and test his bloodwork.. you know how parents are they are always proud of their kids achievement in my case I am a shooter :rotfl:

Dad is still in the hospital though... still with fever and swelling... antibiotics are working slowly... my guess is that my dad might be experincing lyme disease... and only yesterday a lyme test was ordered :faint: I am hoping that this work out soon and get him to full recovery. I had asked them a million times to just stay here with me or in California with my other brothers and sisters but they feel like they are loosing their mobility andn independence if they do that. So as of right now we are still on a wait and see process. Mom explain that I dont need to fly back home that everything is under control.. I hope so coz I am going  already and :scared: :scared1: at the same time. I am not ready to loose my parents :sad2: :sad1:

Hang in there Ants! I'm sure you're not losing your dad, this is just a blip on the radar of life. I can totally relate (well, my dad is only 15 min. away from me so not on that point I can't relate) but he has been very ill on & off for almost a year now & they just can't find what's wrong. He's my DAD - he's not supposed to be a sick old man! He just retired 18 mos. ago so this isn't fair that he can't enjoy himself now. We're still getting over losing his dad 2 years ago to pancreatic cancer, so I just want to be illness-free for awhile! Lyme keeps coming up, they test him every few months for that but it's always negative or "inconclusive." They thought he had everything from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever to a parasite to lung cancer - and every test in between, hospitalizations, scans, bloodwork every week, etc. Still nothing. It's so frustrating. He has days that he's in so much pain he can't get out of bed. Then 2 days later he's playing ball with my boys. Go figure.

Sorry to ramble, just needed to get that out I guess! Keep in touch with your parents as much as possible. It sounds like your mom is trying so hard to stay independent through all of this, good for her.

Off to another fun fun day in Yankee Candle world!

Hi Ants, so glad all is okay. Whew, talk about timing!!! Now maybe your cousins can figure out what is wrong. Keep us posted. Terri

Tara, it really is hard when a parent is sick. Your always on guard and worried things will be okay. My Mom is sick, she has bad lungs and various other ailments that add up to not being very healthy. My mom is on oxygen all the time and several years ago she had lung reduction surgery to remove the scared parts of her lungs to make it easier for her to breath. (emphesema and asthma) Now as she is getting older she is more suceptible to any kind of infection. It drives us all nuts. In the month of April she was in the hospital for 8 days right before our trip to Disney and again when we came back for another 5 days. It is crazy.
I hope they find something with your dad soon. Terri

ANTS Glad to hear that fate stepped in and got your parents out of China before the quake. They had a little pixie dusting even though they weren't in Disney.

Ants, glad to hear your parents left China before the quake! At least your dad is responding to the antibiotics - even though it is slowly. Hopefully the recovery will be sooner than expected. I know how stubborn parents can be. I've been trying to get my mother to move in with us for years. The answer is always the same....NO! So, I don't ask anymore. I figure when she's had enough of living by herself & worrying about the house (my dad died in 1987) she'll let me know. Tara & Terri, I hope things get better with your situations too. It's sooooo hard, isn't it?

On a lighter note....Ants, I couldn't tell if you enjoyed your Disney trip or not??? I'm sure you had some good moments with your Aunt! So now when is your next trip? Is that the September one with Poohbear67?

My prayers are with all of you dealing with health issues with parents. It is difficult when the roles are reversed. I am fortunate both parents are still in good health and spunky as ever at 82. Ants, thank GOD everything with your parents is good as far as the earthquake goes. I pray some answers are forthcoming. Take care.

Antss, I'm so glad your parents got out of China before the quake. Hopefully a new set of doctors will see things through different eyes and get to the bottom of his problems.

Antss, Tara and Terri-I hope and pray all of your loved ones get well soon.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Every day is a new adventure with my mom, she does okay for herself on her good days. Mom can still drive...she gets her hair done, shops for groceries and goes too bingo. She just moves much slower because of her breathing and it is very frustrating for her. I guess we are that much more protective of her since my Dad died and we watch her like a hawk. We all tease her that she is tough as nails. lol

Linda, I saw your quesions about renting points. I have rented off of the DVC point rental boards everytime. Sometimes I post a message that I am looking for points other times I check out who is renting points and reply to those. I think I have rented four times and have not had a problem any time. I save alot of money renting, for example this last time was four days, April 26th-30th for a 2 bedroom at OKW. The passholder rate on line was 515.00 a night plus tax, it came to around 2300.00 for the four days. I needed 163 points to rent the rooms thru DVC. I sent someone a PM that was renting points and she offered them to me for 9.50 a point (which is a really good price, the going rate is 10.00 and as high as 12.00 a point) it came out to around 1550.00 for the points. That is a savings of around 800.00 dollars. The Dvc member makes the reservations then calls me back with the reservation number. I then wait until I receive the printed reservation receipt by either fax or mail and then send a certified check to them. I do not like paypal and a lot of the renters like for you to do that. I will walk away if I am not comfortable with the people for instance if they are to pushy. I also try to look for people that have many posts. That means they have more of a history and maybe a little easier to track. lol That is just me though. Everyone I have rented from has been great, and I got to meet some new people. :thumbsup2 I can help more if your thinking of doing this. Let me know. Hope this answers some of your questions. Terri

I forgot, has anyone seen or heard from HelenePa. I see she hasn't posted in awhile and I was wondering if everything is okay.

I also want to say hello to Tracy (dopeysmama). Tracy and I had an accidental Dis meet at the Hometown farmers market on Wed. I was really glad to see her. :woohoo: Thanks for coming over to chat Tracy, maybe we can meet up there again. Terri from Chendo;)

That was neat to see you there, did you buy any sun glasses:rotfl:

Wow a DIS Meet in Hometown! Now that's a first!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes for my dad. Everyone has their problems, so many much worse than mine.

I was wondering the same thing Linda - I couldn't tell if Ants was frustrated over her trip with her aunt, or just being funny? See, solo trips are the way to go!

I'm definitely going to miss that Disney Store! :( We could meet there & then have lunch upstairs at the food court mixed with alot of chatting!! :chat:

Hey Linda, I love that idea. I talked with the manager on Thursday, and she said they should be at 50% around Memorial Day. Also, the employees are really getting scre*ed.... I feel bad for them.

Talked to both parents last night and now they have changed my dads antibiotic from IV to injections 2x a day... still in the hospital though but it seems like it is going on the right direction. My dad sounds more peppy as the day progress but mom sounds worn out :guilty: :sad1: Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes... I owe you one guys!

Tara and Terri you are in my thoughts and prayers...

Hey Penny - how was your trip? How was the Pin event?

Trip was great and the boys had a wonderful time. :goodvibes I got shingles (painful and itchy:headache: )
I won the grand prize at the pin event and got my picture taken with all of the characters. :yay: :yay: As soon as I can hang out at the computer for a little longer (back is still in terrible pain) I will post a picture.

I turned 60 on the 10th and my friends threw me a wonderful party. I was on pain killers for most of the day so it was a beautiful day. :dance3:
Take care and thanks for asking Penny:hippie:
