Hello Grover in Winnipeg, it's Jo-Anne in Toronto! I see by your signature you stayed at ASMusic last year. DH, DD (5yrs) and I will be going to ASMU Sept 29-Oct 4 and am wondering what building you stayed in...I'm hoping for Calypso or Jazz. How were the crowds at the pools and food courts in Oct? Did you have any long wait issues with the buses? Any other thoughts or input you have would be greatly appreciated. We have stayed at all the moderates before, but this is our first time to ASMu....couldn't pass up the $49 deal! Thanks! Jo-Anne

Hi Jo-Anne,

I'm not Grover but we stayed at ASMusic last October too and I thought I could help you out a little.

The pools were pretty crowded as the weather was HOT! The last week of our vacation was about 32º everyday! Piano pool was less crowded than Calypso. The food court was manageable except a little after the parks would close, then it was a little crazy but still we always managed to have very yummy food!

We only used the busses a few times but we never waited very long at all...5-10 mins max. Crazy bus drivers though :)

We stayed in Rock Inn and it was great. Even though the resort was full, it always seemed as if we were the only ones there! Obviously that changed as we got closer to Melody Hall. It was about a 5-7 minute walk to refill our mugs from Rock Inn but we always enjoyed the atmosphere and didn't mind walking.

Enjoy your stay!!

We were there at the end of last September. We found the room was small for us (2 adults and 2 little ones-2 & 3). If you have little ones, try to get a room that is close to the food court. Actually, you can fax them and let them know your preference of where you'd like your room, although there is no guarantee you would get it. The pool was well used but generally we did not find it to be crowded and they had life jackets at the front desk. We stayed at the Calypso, very closed to the food court and pool, but did not find the room to be noisy. I guess the only complaint would be the room was small.

Jo-Anne,
We were there in mid October, I did not find the food court or the pool crowded at all. There are two pools, the guitar pool and piano pool. We were stayed in Rock Inn, a bit of a walk to melody hall. It was very quiet at this end of the resort. We were just a few steps away from the piano pool. We did eat at the food court, primarily breakfast and a few late night snacks. The chicken ceasar salad was good, I also had the mickey waffles every morning!! The bus service was excellent, we never waited more than 5 minutes! We did have a rental car which remained parked the whole time! Just a tip, if you are further back in the resort, in the morning they set up a snack/beverage cart by the piano pool so that you can get a coffee or something without trekking all the way down to melody hall. They also don't provide towels at the pool, so if want a nice big cosy one you should bring it from home (or buy a disney one as we did) as the ones in your room are just standard size. The weather was absolutley gorgeous when we were there, in the 30's every day, had about 10 mins of rain! At night it did cool off, the pools are open very late- midnight I think so you will need something to wrap up in if you swim late. We found it refreshing and DS who is 8 still had a ton of energy every night! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Hope you have a awesome trip!

One thing that everyone has overlooked is that there are kids play areas at the All Star Resorts to. We stayed at Music in 99 in the Jazz Building and it was great and we even had a kids play area just down from our room. The room was fine for us we had 3 adults and one 3 year old. We have never found the rooms there to be that small we quite enjoy the All Star Resorts it is a family favourite with Coronado running a close second. The play area has swings and climbers and a slide like you would find at a public park in Toronto or here in London and was very well mainained we always go in the first couple weeks of Dec and never have problems with crowds or anything. We love going then as the whole place is decorated for Christmas. The weather has always been great then to never a time we haven't had temps below 65 to 70 in 99 it was 85 so we can't complain about that. I hope this has helped
