I am 25 years old, and will be 26 this November. I live in the mountains of North Carolina, where I just completed my first year teaching kindergarten.

I haven't been on a vacation in 7 years, since I began undergraduate work in college. Since, I have graduated, and I am working on my Masters in TESOL while working full time. So, I decided it was high time for a vacation.

My favorite memories are of my mom's family (my grandparents, their four children and spouses, and the 12-15 cousins) trekking to Disney every other year. I've been about 7 times in my life. So, to celebrate my birthday this year, I am taking my dad and his new fiance with me.

This is a big year for me. In 2008, I was in a bad accident. I broke a bunch of bones, including both hips, and I spent almost a year in a wheelchair and on a walker. I finally am able to get around without too much pain (except in winter), and I want to celebrate that accomplishment. My dad and his girlfriend helped me through some pretty tough spots, and I want to thank them.

So, this year, we will be in Disney from November 20-27. We will probably stay at French Quarter (we always used to stay at the Contemporary, and I am a bit bummed it's too expensive this time). It's his girlfriend's first time, so I am really excited to show her around the world!

:welcome: That is a wonderful time to visit the world. Keep in mind that it will be busy, but with careful planning you will be able to do everything you want.

Sounds like a wonderful idea.

I recently gave up teaching after almost 20 years. At times teaching is the most rewarding profession and at other times it is the least respected.

Thanks for the replies!

I am worried about the crowds, but it's the only time we can really go. Nancy (my dad's fiance) and I are both teachers, so we only have to take 2 days off. My dad works as a technical writer in a factory, and his boss is funny about vacation time, so he'll only have to take 2 days off, too.

We mostly just want to meander around. I don't think that any of us will mind if we can't go on everything, and most of the things I like aren't big ticket attractions.

We will be making it special. A specialty birthday cake, welcome basket, maybe a massage for me. I did get Thanksgiving dinner reservations at Boma, which I am really excited about.

You'll enjoy visiting that time of year. POFQ should be a great resort for your traveling party.
