Hi everyone, we are new to the discussion board. I have a 3 1/2 yr old that is going on her WDW wish trip early December. After navigating the site for a while, I am no closer to figuring this place out then I was two days ago. But something I do know is that it seems I am in the right spot. Everyone seems really nice. I found the Wish Trippers Unite page and read several of the trip reports. I would like to start one but have no idea how to. I see the New Thread post but I don't want to inconvience anyone if I put the thread in the wrong place. If anyone could help out, It would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

Hi and :welcome: to both DisBoards and disABILITIES!

A few related suggestions.

If you go to the Trip Reports Forum there is a subforum for pre-trip reports which would probably be the best place for your planning information.

Once you have more than ten posts you will be able to post links and send Private Messages. At that time you can go to the Wish Trippers Unite page and either contact the original poster of that thread to add a link to your report or you can add it as part of a post.

If you have any specific questions this forum would be a good place to post them.

And finally, if you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information.

Or, if you want an easier route, click on the link in my signature.

Most of us here are more than willing to assist people as needed.

Most moderators do not bite and if something is in the wrong place then they magically move it to the right spot. I never seen it done but seen on the boards a note saying something was moved.

First of all you need to work on your child's needs. There are many threads on specific illnesses as well as special needs. FAQs should find you something to help make her trip more enjoyable. Among the things you may want to look at is diet, needs shade, tires easy, her medical needs, special feeding.

Next is the Wish Trip Organization. There is a wonderful place for Make a Wish kids in the WDW area and you can read up on what goes on there. They can help you know what you might get on the trip and what cannot be done.

This board and the transportation areas can help you with getting to and from WDW. Like what to do on the plane, how to get a kid through TSA without them freaking out (scary even for me, lol), what you can take on the plane like syringes and food, and transportation to and from the airport.

Various boards can help you with ideas like decorating a kid's wheelchair, fun kid things to do, best spots to watch a parade, discounts, and ride closures. For a kid you can do a scrap book for example or a photo book. Matching family t-shirts is another idea.

Just take a deep breath and break down the trip into bite size bits like where to eat, what to see, special needs, and the transportation. If you get overwhelmed then make an itinarary and a folder for notes to keep in one place in the house so you can double check things. I have on my computer notes for my last trip to San Antonio and lists of bookmarks and notes for my trip to new Hampshire. On the computer you can set a bookmark like "Wish Trip" then put subfolders like the transportation, resort, make a wish, things to do. For my trip i have hotels, things to see, transportation, convention, EATING, and other stuff as labels for my subfolders.

Breath in, breath out.
Hugs
Laurie
