:sad1: Hello I've just found disboards about 2 days ago and we've been inseparable since. What an amazing site! Thank you for all the tips and news you all share.

I'm 19 and have been to disney world 3 times but the last was about 8 years ago so a lot has changed! My boyfriend and I are planning to go for 2 weeks in late Oct 2008. Do you suggest I book now?

Are virgin still the best people to fly with? We're defintely going to upgrade our seats I'm a frequent flyer and economy for 8 and a half hours is not appealing:sad1:
especially when my boyfriend has only been on a plane twice before!!!

Thank you in advance for any advice you have:) :)

Hi, welcome to the boards!!!

I can't really help with the booking as we're looking at going December 2008 and can't decide whether to book with Virgin, Thomson or direct with Disney, probably going to be Disney though. But must say premium economy with virgin is fantastic, especially if you sit upstairs in the bubble! Have fun!!

Hi and :welcome: ...

These boards are very addictive but you're with like-minded people so how bad can it be...? ;) We usually fly with Virgin as we like a direct flight plus I like to upgrade and prefer their service over BA. We have DVC points so tend to book a fly-drive with Virgin Holidays as our accommodation is pre-arranged. There's also Travel City Direct who have an upgraded cabin option which seems quite reasonable...

Good luck!:thumbsup2

We always fly with Virgin mainly because they fly direct to MCO from Manchester.
I think if you have specific dates in mind it's always best to book as soon as you can, you never know you may not be able to get your dates if you leave it too long and October being one of the ideal times to go is becoming more popular now.

We fly Premium Economy, mainly for our son's benefit and can highly recommend it. If you can afford it then it's worth the extra money, but it does add a fair amount to an already expensive holiday - our PE upgrades alone next March are costing us over £1400.
It just depends on your budget and personal choice really - many would rather save the $$$ for spending money and you can understand why they do that.

If you are looking for Virgin Atlantic flights (as opposed to a virgin holiday package) Don't forget to check Continentals UK web site as they have the exact same flights but are normally a few pounds cheaper.

Although depends what class they want to fly... true if they want to fly Upper Class or Economy, not is they want to fly Premium Economy...

hi Shelle and welcome

Well my advice (for what its worth),

Although Virgin do come in for a bit of stick on these boards now and again, for me they are still the best option for the following reasons.

1, They fly direct in Orlando Airport
2, The extras you get like Twilight Checkin, extra baggage allowance, Pre bookable seats
3, Reward Programme
4, If you do leave it closer to the time you can pick up some fantastic sale fares direct from Virgins Web site.

Economy with Virgin is pretty much the same as any other airlines economy, but you tend to get looked after a little bit better (my opinion but not shared by everyone)
Premuim Economy is fantastic but as Johnny states it can add alot of ££££'s on to an already expensive holiday, but worth every penny if you can stretch that little bit further.

As for when to book, if you have an exact time you want to go then i suggest you book now, but if you are a bit flexible it could be worth holding on to see if a sale fare comes out that you can book (have a look now to see how much you would pay for this year as a comparison)

No real right or wrong answers really but planning it all is as much fun as going.

Thank you for your help, hopefully be booking next week with virgin holidays, but also interested in tcd

Travelled with Virgin (Economy) this year after 2 years with Monarch, 2 years Airtours and 1 year First Choice (1996). Virgin Economy is far better than these other flights.

The biggest advantage Virgin have is they fly into Orlando. We did this once back in 1996 (1st trip), got lost going to Kissimmee so didn't really appreciate just how close it was to Orlando till now. The rest of the time came in to Sanford and didn't know any different. This year flying into Orlando has reset the marker. It was lovely to be only 15 minutes or so from the hotel and also allowed us more time to enjoy the last day. It is Orlando Airport for us from now on.

Also you can check in at Downtown Disney which is a massive advantage. No more lengthy lines with a couple of flights going from the same check in desks. If your flight is delayed you find out about it first thing in the morning then can spend the rest of the day enjoying yourself. It was a totally different feel to the day from all the other years we have travelled back.

Personally if you know when you want to go and where you want to go I would get it booked up. I never like waiting around for the off chance of cheaper deals, I prefer the security of knowing it is all booked up. Booked Feb 07 for July 08 and intend to book in Feb 08 for July 09. It makes it so much easier leaving the place when you know you are coming back.
