Hello everyone.

I just signed up to the group and thought I'd better say hi to all the other Disney addicts! Hope I'm not breaking any protocol saying hello in this way.

Names Richie, a married father of 2 daughters (12&7) and come from Stoke on Trent. Have been to Orlando 3 times in the last 18 months and am off again in April.

I do have a question. We've pretty much decided on The Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's & 'Ohana for dinner, but wondered if anyone had a suggestion for a fourth - Disney reataurant, but outside of the parks themselves....I'm kinda goin' the Boma route at the moment.

Anyway, hope I can contribute when I can....and how do I get one of those countdown boxes I see many of you have?

Cheers

Rich:D :D

Hi Rich and welcome to the DIS:wave2:

You have joined a merry band of brothers (and sisters;) ) all with the same obsession.......ooopppss sorry..... interest!;)

Three trips in the last 18 months with one due is good going, you certainly fit the above club I think::yes::

I haven't been to Bomas yet but that sounds like a good 4th choice of a restaurant. With the bonus you get to see the AK lodge.

Sorry,I can't 'do' techy stuff, I'm sure someone else will help you with that one!

Hi Rich and welcome

With 2 girls of those ages, they may enjoy the Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge.

It's great fun, but it's not quiet and relaxing!!!

Also you will get to see WL, which is worth a trip in iteself.

Cheers

Craig

Hi, Rich and welcome :wave2:

Three times in 18 months with another already booked! You did get the bug, didn't you? :teeth: As Kazzie says, you're in good company here!

Boma is a great choice. Animal Kingdom Lodge is a fabulous resort and Boma fits in seamlessly (as does Jiko which I'd also recommend). Make sure you leave yourselves plenty of time to check out the whole resort. Boma is open for breakfast and dinner, and breakfast seems to have become a first morning tradition for us. For a first time visit to AKL, though, I'd suggest dinner - the whole place takes on an amazing ambiance in the evenings with a fire pit inside the lobby and another outside on the Arusha Savannah.

I also agree with Craig - Whispering Canyon Cafe is great fun for kids. It's a good lunchtime choice on a day when you're at MK. Nice relaxing trip over on the water taxi, a stroll around the resort and then a lot of whooping and hollering over lunch!

Look forward to your questions and contributions. Have you found the UK Trip Planning Forum?

Just wanted to say Hi & Welcome Rich.

Sounds like you have been truly bitten by the Mouse Bug!! ;)

Countdown = Technical Board, Plenty posts on how to create and add your countdown. ;)

Welcome aboard Rich :) !!

Boma is a lively restaurant - lots of toing and froing as people go to and from the food stations - we were in just the right mood for this and thoroughly enjoyed our meal there and the lively atmosphere.

Jiko is a totally different (more expensive!) affair and with the ages of your children, I would check out the menu first before taking them here.

(Just checking - you do know 'Ohana and Chef Mickey's are also not in the parks? These are at the Polynesian and the Contemporary respectively... and you'll really enjoy both of them!)

Another sugestion would be the restaurants on the Boardwalk : Spoodles is very popular - we've eaten there many times.

As you can see! You are spoiled for choice :teeth: ........ we definitely need lots of trips to try them all out :teeth:

  Hi Rich!

Hi again

Thanks for all your advice & welcome notes. I think Boma is going to be the one. I have some other questions, but I'll use the UK vacation planning forum so that I don't clog this one up :)

Welcome Rich

Another vote for Boma we were there in August & we all loved it.
DH,myself ,DS aged 16 & his girlfriend, DD 13 & DS 11.

I wouldn't have gone to JIKO with our kids as Boma was a buffet & it suited them all much better.

We made our PS before leaving the UK by telephoning Disney dining. That way man on barrier had a note of our name, as we were staying off site.

We got there a little early to enable us to look around. It's fantastic. We were given a pager & wondered round the foyer & out to the animal viewing areas. There's also a sperate bar if you want a drink. We also met a family from ur village - A small world!!!!!

After our meal which was fantastic we went out to see the animals again & there was a Cm out there with night vision goggles. our youngest Ds was very impressed.
