Hello! We have been to both Universal parks but never for HHN and was just wondering what rides are typically open during this time?

  • Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts
  • TRANSFORMERS: The Ride 3D
  • Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
  • Revenge of the Mummy
  • Men in Black Alien Attack
  • The Simpsons Ride
Believe that was last year....Idt this year has been posted but it's likely the same.

Thanks! We are going for 2 nights and are so excited! We love Halloween and scary things. Don't know if we will even do rides but were curious. We really want to see and do everything scary for sure!

I do the rides during the park days and do the houses and zones and special shows for Hhn at night

Great idea! That is what we will probably do. We will be at the parks for 4 days and going to HHN for 2 nights. Waiting until October is going to be torture!!!

When walking past The Mummy, we can't resist going for a ride, even during HHN. Last year we really enjoyed a very quick queue for Gringotts. If you have Express Passes or are going to HHN multiple nights, you might consider a much quicker Gringotts ride. I believe Diagon Alley was also a holding area for Stay and Scream, so you probably could ride it a few times while you wait for the houses to open.

i have been going to hhn since 1999
so much as changed over the years.

when UO increased the number of houses for hhn, there were less line waits for rides.

in the past few years, have noticed that lines for mummy, mib, simpsons don't have the long waits as they do in the daytime.

if you buy the ep for hhn, it does allow you to use the ep line once during the hhn event

even though i do the mummy in the daytime, i can not resist going on it during hhn.
it seems so fitting for the evening to do so....

RRR is a good one at night too........can't resist Mummy either.........

As an HHN first timer last year, I highly recommend getting express pass for HHN. Also, if you can swing the day time ticket, be in the park before it closes for HHN so you can wait in one of the holding areas. We got a really good jump on the crowd when they let us out. That, coupled with express pass, we had time to do several rides.

We will be in the parks all day. Can someone please explain the holding areas to me?

There are areas that will cordoned off for people who are staying with a valid HHN ticket.......they are shepherded, for want of a better word into these areas while everyone who is not staying for horror nights leaves the park. You are not allowed in these areas without a valid horror nights ticket.

One area is outside of Finnegans, other is in Simpsons area and last year DA had a space.

Before the general crowd outside the main gates are let in, folks in holding area are released early to get a head start on selected houses.

For many years the deluxe hotels have a perk for their guests during Hhn
There was a special entrance at the far end of turn stiles that could be used from 6-8 in the evening to enter the park for Hhn as long as you had the Hhn tix

You do go thru a metal detector

If the holding areas were not released yet, you were escorted to one of them to wait there until the all clear was made

If the holding pen was already released, you were allowed to go to a house line

Don't know if this will be available again this year
But assume it will

I prefer to do the holding areas

Thank You! I am getting more excited by the minute!

We stayed in the Simpsons holding area last year, which worked well because they were serving drinks while we waited. They let us out ahead of the people at the main gates and we were able to get through the Walking Dead house and the Purge houses with no waits and without using an express pass entry. So it was definitely worth it!

i used to use the finnegans holding area but found that the Simpsons holding area suits me so much better.
i feel it is the best place especially for the extra space you have there.
and the drinks also......
and food........
and more seating areas.......

Is there a map of the houses you get? We would like to be close to The Walking Dead house for sure.

Yep - when HHN starts, you'll be able to find copies of the map online. They also have them there at HHN.

So, if we choose the Simpsons area, we can buy food while waiting? We ate at Finnegan's last time and it was so packed it took forever to eat and get the bill. We decided to eat while in the holding area this time, but figured we'd have to get food before we went into the holding area.

Yes. The QS attached to Moe's, along with Moe's and Duff's were all open. I can't compare to Finnegan's, but this area was pretty packed too. We had trouble finding a seat, and then just wanted a beer. There was one bartender working at Moe's so we went across to Duff's and waited a good 20 minutes just for two beers. The majority of our time in the holding area was spent waiting in line.
