HHN website

Why?

The Penn and Teller email I got today actually sealed the deal for me. My wife and I are big Penn and Teller fans. After going to HHN for 6 years in a row, we haven't been that last 3 year. Looks like we'll be going opening night and maybe the 2nd night too - might just get express and only do the first night.

Probably unlikely, but I was thinking it would be very cool if they had Penn and Teller there for the opening night. Would certainly draw a lot of attention to things.
I don't like P & T...never have. I'm not into The Walking Dead and I'm not an Alice Cooper fan. So far the only thing announced that I'm interested in is Silent Hill. Believe me when I tell you I'm very disappointed so far. This will be HHN #9 for me and I've never felt is let down in all the years I've gone. If these announcements don't start lighting a fire with me, this will be a one and done show this year.

I've never seen their show, but we loved their show BullSh1t. It was funny and there was a lot of truth to it.

I haven't really paid much attention to the houses other than this one. I always find watching other people more amusing than the houses themselves - I really don't find them scary at all.

I kinda agree with you on this. I'm still excited about going to HHN, but I don't care for the bare bones website, the boring "let's reveal a house every week" Facebook and Twitter updates, and I'm bitterly disappointed over the lack of an icon or storyline. Immersion is one of the main reasons I enjoy HHN, and I'll find it hard to immerse myself if I'm not given a world in which to do so... if that makes any sense.
Yeah...I think you can definitely tell there was a change in management a few years ago. It seems like they are just throwing this event together and the website hasn't been fun since 2007. In recent years it seems as though HOS has completely passed HHN on the website side of it and that's where lots of people get pumped about going.

We all like different things. I go for the houses...I couldn't care less about the shows . I haven't seen B & T since 2005 as I'm not into that type of humor. I think it's great that you like P & T but I don't and I usually go five or six times a year. Living close to the parks makes it a great event for me but like I said...there hasn't been much that has my interest...at least not yet.

Anyone know anything about the on-site hotel guest priority entrance? On the FAQ on the website it says hotel guests have a priority entrance from 6pm-8pm. Doesn't HHN generally open for the general public at what 6:30 or 7? Is this like the holding areas for the annual pass holders and stay and scream, or just a special line to get in to the event?

I have been in the park for stay and scream and for the annual pass holders. I have never heard of this before. I'm not doing stay and scream or no longer a pass holder, but I am staying on-site this time.

Also I purchased the Rush of Fear pass a park tickets separate as it was much cheaper. Any chance I could stay in the park for Stay and Scream?

I didn't see this posted anywhere yet, and I felt it was important to share:

Link to HHN 2012 Website Survey
(Copy and Paste into your address bar, it will not work if you click it)

This was added to the website recently. If you're like me and you think the website stinks this year, please fill that out and let them know. Maybe next year we can have a fun, interactive website again.

It's really sad how this seems to be the only forum I can express this opinion on without some fanboy/girl jumping on my case and getting snarky over it. *sigh*

i agree with youse homie.
i was so geared to the website being like it has in the past years.
this year, meh.

i am excited to go to hhn though, just wanted a better and bigger build up.
an interactive website would have been awesome.

i'm finding my info regarding hhn on other sites before it is listed on the official hhn website.

i read on another site 2 days back about penn and teller.
then it was written up with the video in the tent before UO released it 'officially'.
HUH?

i think it was in 05 that most of the houses, if not all, were tied together in the theme.
i'm not catching on to the theme this year yet.
hopefully, something will come out of nowhere and amaze me for this year's event.

you are among friends here.
say whatever you want and all the homies will accept your thoughts and opinions. everyone's view counts.
some might not agree and will post that, but the darkside threads are not known for snarkyism.

i signed up for panel some years back.
there are times i get them and times others get them.
when i am looking at prices on the website, i have received an invite to do a survey then.
btw, it did work for me by clicking on it.

usually you find out more of what could happen when you do them.

i got my room booked, air covered, hhn pass, csw shirt ordered and money.
i'm just waiting for when to go..

hotel entrance is to the far right.
show your hotel key and hhn ticket.

this has nothing to do with annual pass holders.
it is a perk for onsite hotel guests only.

if the park is not open at 6, then you are taken or sent to the SnS holding area until security gives the all clear to be released.

the rof is a hhn ticket.
that would allow you to stay in the park and go to the stay and scream holding area.

if you don't go at 5 to the SnS, you will have to leave the park.

either you stand in the long line outside the main gate, or you use the perk of the gate entrance to the far right designated for onsite hotel guests to enter the park. (6:00)

snark/ OMG! HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE IT?!!!!!!111 HHN IS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!11111 YOU JUST ARENT APPRECIATING IT CAUSE U R LAME!!!!1111 /snark

Not sure if this has been covered or not, so please excuse the post if it has. But does anyone know what rides are typically open during the HHN's? THANKS!

last year a select 5 were open.
we won't know until it is released.

(mib, jaws, simpsons, mummy, RRR)

I think I will agree with Metro but only partially. :goodvibes Those who don't watch The Walking Dead, or haven't watched or played Silent Hill, or don't know/follow/watch Alice Cooper and Penn and Teller might not be excited at all.

In my case, I have no clue about Alice Cooper. I immediately did some research on him and discovered that he is a big thing, but not my genre so not looking forward to his house. I will read a bit of his bio so I can know a bit about him.

Walking Dead, probably my favorite show at present, really excited about it. Not much with the idea of seeing zombies again (and again) but just trying to figure out which props will be used for the houses (obviously the "don't open" door with the zombie hands sticking out will be there in the house, the store where the zombies banged on the windows, the barn, perhaps? This has me really psyched up.

Silent Hill sounds amazing too. I actually downloaded Silent Hill (PS one classics) from the Playstation Network and playing it at the moment (horrible graphics, but worth replaying, it was back in 99!)..

Penn and Teller... simply ok. I did watch Penn and Teller get Killed when I was quite young and liked it...

Website... I'd rather get all info at once, rather than chewed up and by bits..
It's just like the HoS fb page, little by little.
Very disappointed with website... I think, basically, the last few years...

IMHO

Overall, I'm still psyched, as in previous years, but very disappointed with the website approach..

Cheers!

Marquibiri :thumbsup2

DC, I lol'd. Thanks ;)

I am actually VERY excited for Penn and Teller. I'm not a fan of magic shows, but I have been catching up on their "BS" TV show for over a month and it's fantastic. They are hilarious. I have a feeling this house is going to rival Bloodengutz as far as comedy goes. And they've been talking about possibly showing up on random nights throughout the event to scare in their house, which would be pretty darn cool.

Of course, you know I'm stoked for Silent Hill. That one's gonna be sick. Alice Cooper might be cool... I'm not very enthused about The Walking Dead, but I'll give it a chance.

Regarding the website... don't know if any of you are on Horror Night Nightmares, but word over there is that the guy who's done the website for the past few years- think his name is Ray Keim?- was not hired back this year, and the Hollywood team has been put in charge of Orlando's web stuff. That would explain the weekly house announcements and simpler website. It's been said that the negative comments from the website survey have not gone unnoticed, and they've also hinted that we may still get the minigames again. I have my fingers crossed on that- I love the games!

Silent Hill 2 is one of the best horror games ever made. If anyone is unfamiliar and wants to prepare for Silent Hill I recommend that one.

Alice Cooper was quite a showman in his day. Check out his Welcome to My Nightmare information if you can find it. It was literally a stageshow that was quite freaky and fun.

While I've been disappointed with the website for several years (and even more so this year), and also at least a little concerned with the apparent lack of a coherent theme or icon, I have to admit that I'm pretty excited about the individual houses. I love both the TV show and the Walking Dead comic series, have been a big fan of Alice Cooper since I was a kid, and I love Penn and Teller and think they have the potential for an awesome house. I'm not familiar with Silent Hill but just from seeing what little I've seen of the game I think it also has the potential to be a really great house as well.

One question, though, are they still planning 7 houses, or is it down to 6?

8 houses?

That's what they've had for the past few years. My confusion comes from the fact that this year they initially only filed 7 permits (as Jaws is now gone), and for some reason I thought I had read that one of them was to be in the soundstage that was just demolished. I may be completely off-base on that, though.

i count 7 houses and read rumors of one more.

time will tell.

I gotta admit, I too am curious about the house count this year.

Based off last year's house locations, Jaws is now gone, and I remember reading/hearing something about the parade Float storage building wasn't being used this year because of the new daily parade.

Then from the permits, They added Building 44 to the list of house locations.... but that building was shortly thereafter demolished.

While some rumors have hinted at a "double maze" in the soundstages, I'm really curious to hear more about what's actually incoming.

Unrelated to Universal's HHN arrangements..... When do we get the official sticky and post your dates threads this year? ;)
