It's me and my wife's first trip to HHN. We want to drive down from NC on Sept 26th 2012. Takes 10 hours to drive from our house to OL. I have rewards at local hotel for free for that night. I thought we'd stay at the Hard Rock for the night of the 27th which is the day to for US and later for the Stay and Scream.
Check out the 28th and drive home. My main concern is seeing all the houses. Can it be done in one night? And, see most of the shows?
thanks In advance Leebo

Historically, the earlier you go in the event, the less the crowds. I'd say you should be okay on that day, but definitively do stay and scream, you should be able to do the first three houses with almost no wait. I've never been this early in the event, but I think you'd be okay with being able to do all the houses without express pass.. but keep in mind you may have some sort of wait, but do as many houses as you can without wait and hit shows after you finish all the houses, then hit any repeats you liked. Right now, the rumors are there are only 7 houses, so this helps the plan as well, less houses you have to hit.

Going on a Thursday also means less crowds.. so I think this plan should be good.

Good luck, have fun!

For the last four years I've been able to see everything in one night. Stick with Stay and Scream and do all houses first. Then check out the scarezones and shows.
I always go opening weekend. This year will be the first time going the second weekend. Crowds seem to still be the same for the second weekend...

Cheers!

I think you get express passing for the day with my HR room key. But, I would have to pay for express pass for HHN. Is this correct?
And, how much are express passes for HHN per person. Does this take you to the front of the line?
thanks Leebo

This is correct, you get it for day but not for HHN.

Express passes for HHN are quite expensive. They are not posted for this year, as far as I can see, but they will be probably be around 40 dollars a piece for your night.

They will put you in a much shorter wait, probably around 10 minutes or so, depending on the house.

If you'd rather not stress about seeing everything, you definitely will see everything with an express pass. Last year I went the second weekend of October, and I hit 7 houses without needing express pass and hit all 8 with the express pass afterwards.

But like has been posted, you should be safe without it by using stay and scream.

I think I would spend the 40 for security that I would see them all. I've been wanting to go for years and just haven't been able to.
The express pass is good for only one trip thru each house. Is that a correct assumption?

Correct.

To get the most out of your night - if you see anything with a short wait (less than 20), hit it without express. Once you are let out of the stay and scream holding area, you will be taken to one of the soundstage houses, hit it without express, then do the other two soundstage houses as they open (and you shouldn't have to use express). The head towards the other side of the park and see if you can hit the house that will be near the beatlejuice show, you might be able to do that too without express.

Then after the park begins to fill up, enjoy yourself and hit some shows and enjoy the scarezones, then go back and hit the rest of the houses and do the other ones again. :thumbsup2

I don't really have a critique for your plan, but I wanted to say that we are also from NC and will be at US those same days!!! We are flying down the 26th and going to US/IOA and HHN the 27th and 28th as part of our honemoon! Then we're leaving for our Western Caribbean cruise on the DCL Fantasy on the 29th!

Congrats! Maybe we'll bump into ya! You can find me near adult beverage outlets.

suggest you book your onsite room as soon as you are sure of your date.

do stay and scream as others have suggested.

concentrate on the houses and shows.

if you want to do the rides in the park, hit them during the day before the park closes at 5:00.

if you are in line waiting for a ride, you will be able to complete it even if it is 5 or after.
once you are off that ride, go to the stay and scream area at finnegans to wait with the others until the park is reopened.
