Ok this will be my first HHN and also will be my first onsite stay. my question is this: I followed the HHn link and saw that they have a gory getaway link that links you to a package of tix and accommodations. the only hitch is they only have packages linked to clarion hotels. does a RPR offer a package?

I believe they had an onsite package last year...could be wrong.

they used to have a gory weekend package for onsite and off site hotels.

last year they only had the off site gory hhn package.

the onsite hotels fill up quickly for the hard ticket event and no longer need to offer that promo package to fill rooms.

i wouldn't do it for the offsite hotel package deal.
i thought about it when it first came out a few years back and decided it was still cheaper for me to break everything down separately.

when it was offered as an onsite promo for all the onsite hotels, it still was cheaper for me to book the room separate and buy the tickets with a discount.
you did not get a discount on the hhn tickets with that package back then.

the only horror, gory halloween package UO offers now is the one for the off site hotel.

stay with your room that you have booked with the onsite hotel.

you don't want the clarion hotel deal.

if you don't have the ap for uo, wait a week or so and coke usually comes out with some type of discount deal for tix.

thx guys.
i think what i will do is book the current RPR loews deal where you stay 4 nights and get two free unlimited 7 day park tickets then buy my HHN tickets online. I need to do this hush hush b/c the DW is penny pinching lately. since i am staying on site i wont rent a car and just chill at the park. how is the temps in october? swimmable?

do the figures and break down the room cost before you take that package.
it will end up costing you more if you go that route.

if you can, book the super saver rates.
they are up on the loews site.

then buy the 7 day, 2 park promo tickets for $79.99 each.

you will come out ahead booking that way.

yes, swimmable in october.
i go the columbus day weekend time period and the last few years swimming was great.

I dont know when you are going but i booked RPR for Oct 4-7 in March and my friend has been trying for the last week to get a room there for the same time and all she has been able to get is either HRH or PB.

i just pulled up your dates in october.
the message i received was change your dates within 1-7 days for availability.

if you check in on oct 3rd, you can get a room at rph. it extends to the 7th and 8th.
i guess this happens sometimes where you have to pick an earlier date in order to stay the entire time you are needing.

if you use the start date of oct 4, only hrh and pbh are available then.

you could try again every few weeks in case there are cancellations.
also try in september as travel agencies that book many rooms in advance to use in their packages, do release them back to the hotel if they don't sell them.

if you go that route, book hrh or pbh and switch to the rph when the date opens up.

rph usually sells out quickly for hhn weekends.
but, rooms do open up.

3 years ago my cousin tried to book at rph for 2 months.
he was going for the columbus day weekend.
in mid september, the dates opened up for him at rph.
he was told the held rooms were released back to the hotel from a company.

how do i see the super saver rates. is it a time frame?

earlier today i pulled up the dates for the rph and the super saver rates were available then.

i tried again based on what thumbalya posted and now rph is not available for her time period unless she starts on the 3rd.

I need to get on the ball or phone and lock in my dates NOW!

I just booked RPR last week for 4 nights on supersaver for $231. Next year I am going to book even further ahead as person I talked to on phone said that October is filling up really quickly. I will be Loews Platinum also which we all know what that means.

Phil from PA

PS The 2 free passes is a bad deal. Go supersaver and buy your tix.

i pulled up the hotel earlier this morning.
the dates you need for a friend are now listed as available.
go for it now!

i agree phil. not all packages are to the advantage of the guest.
i switched last year from AAA to the supersaver rate and got a deep discount.

may I ask why we shouldn't stay @ the clarion. We just booked our trip for 10/3-10/6 staying at the clarion, we didn't do the package, we did everything seperately since we're on a very tight budget for that weekend? Now I'm nervous about staying at that hotel!!!:confused3

it is one mile from the park.

the two promos that are going on with universal for off site partner hotels only provides free transportation on certain dates.

there is no free transportation for the time you are staying. you would have to make a choice of options for transportation to and from the park.
what would the charge be per person for that mile?
things like that can be the hidden charges that add up to a more expensive stay at the clarion.

first promo ends free transportation on oct 3 and the next does not start until oct 10
(i checked the hotel section on the UO website before i posted this to you.)

the hotel has not been renovated since 1999.

it is an okay hotel. you are within walking distance to some shops and resturants.

some people love the clarion.
some people say it suits the purpose.
if it is only a place to sleep and change clothes at, then, how bad can it be.

i have stayed off site before and have used the hotels in the major blvd area.
the fee for shuttles were cheap there and frequent but i had to make a ressie to hold our seats for the time period for our shuttle.
i couldn't be vague about it as i had to sign up the night prior for the ride. i did walk from the hotel to the park before but found out i was way too tired to do it after a full day in the park. the day we checked into the hotel, we had missed the morning shuttle, so we walked.

we all are different. me, i don't mind walking but 1/2 mile was a lot for me at the end of an evening at UO.

don't be nervous over what i said about the clarion.
it's just not a place i would be using staying off site.

if you have already committed to the hotel, then give it your best shot.
you'll have a fun time at the parks no matter which hotel you stay in.

came back to add, if universal told you they would provide free transportation from the hotel to the park, then all should be fine.

call the hotel or check on their website the hours they provide shuttles and the cost per person.

all i can go by is what was listed in the small print on the UO website on the off site partner hotels regarding benefits such as shuttles.
