Just got this
So, the last weekend, Sting Alley...new scare zone, and lots of surveys about next year.

Lucky you, we just made our last visit this past Thursday. Tell them we want the UTH tour back next year.

I thought survey takers were scary, but not that scary

I wish I could go, I have A LOT to say, and based on this year's HHN survey, we could possibly see a radically different HHN in the next year or two.

I would also love to share my opinions on the Frequent Fear Pass though (It needs to be limited or eliminated, I've been following nightly wait times online, and was shocked to see most houses with a 75-120 minute wait this past Sunday, ridiculous)

Why should the FFP be eliminated? I get one every year and go the nights I can...Sundays mostly. That wouldn't be a good thing for locals. What would your alternative be for locals? Buy single night admissions? That's ridiculous.

Maybe they need to stop selling so many general admission tickets to keep the lines down. Just a thought.

Heh, just got done with our 10 day vacation (we go down this time of year primarily for HHN). Guess Universal wants us to wait till the last possible week from now on. Kind of pisses me off they add something at the last second.

my thoughts are just opposite.

i only do 2 off peak nights and 2 peak nights for hhn.

i only come out ahead by $5 when buying the FFP with my AP.

the day UO starts to limit the usage of the FFP, i believe you will see many out of towners stop buying them, and stop attending as much.

the reason you are seeing longer wait lines for the houses is due to the popularity of hhn.
for the price a person pays for the ffp, buy the epp for a night if the lines are too long. you still are coming out ahead money wise if time is a criteria for you.

more people attend each year.

i don't know of that many locals who buy the FFP, attend all of the ffp nights.

think of Metro's suggestion.
the coin is flipped both ways.

It seems the point of the FFP has been to attract a crowd on those nights (Wed/Thurs/Sun) that may not be as busy as a Fri. or Sat. Now, it seemed to have gotten to the point where these nights seem to have become ridiculously busy (This past Sunday as a prime example).

Maybe not eliminate the FFP (or if they do eliminate, offer greater discounts for locals/AP holders in place of the FFP), but to possibly limit the nights or raise the price (3-4 nights to recoup the cost vs. 2).

The FFP program has done it's job well in the past, I just think it has come to the time where HHN has outgrown the purpose of the FFP.

Of course, this is all just my opinion, but I do feel strongly about it.

On this is this. The locals feed more money into FFP's and spend more money then the one's that only come into town once A year to do HHN only one night. Now do the math if you would-less locals spending money=less Universal will put into the event. So pretty much don't bite off the hand that feeds the greatest Halloween event in the country, the locals..

I can testify to that. Not only did donaldduck352 buy lots of stuff for himself and his family he even bought a bottle of water for my wife. When we travel to Orlando we rarely spend a penny in the parks, HHN would go broke if they had to depend on us.

The problem as I see it is simple...Universal is selling too many general admission tickets for HHN and the lines have grown longer and longer. Universal has done nothing to improve the queue lines even charging outrageous prices for the Express Pass doesn't seem to help. The only thing that would help the situation is to have a set amount of general admission tickets to sell on each night. Once that number has been reached, that night would be officially sold out. I don't see Universal doing anything in the near future to try to solve the problem...too much lost revenue is at stake and they aren't stupid. The other alternative is to open IoA again and have it both parks to help with the traffic flow but I don't see that happening either. HHN has outgrown one park but Universal won't expand the event.

So...those of us who buy FFP's every year will have to continue to clog up the lines and make the wait times several hours. ;)

A few of us with FFP will go out right at open, do a few houses and the first Bill and Ted before the lines get crazy and then head back, do another few houses another night, etc... Once the lines get long we're usually outta there.
If you do go early while there is still some daylight, wear strong sunglasses or keep an eye closed before you go into the house, then switch to the other eye in the house, otherwise things are just too dark to see (Especially Frank & Dracula)

Yeah I had the same thing to say in my survey. Opening both parks imo would be a good idea to spread out the people more and would put less strain on lines. I wouldn't think it would cost much more to do it that way.

I also mentioned limiting the number of ppl they enter but like you said that probably will not work.(Guy next to me mentioned this in his survey too)

We did not wait long in line since we got there at opening and did most houses as they opened. Think the longest we waited was maybe 10 minutes. Kinda enjoyed doing it that way. Got some houses out of the way early and just walked around scarezones and did mib the rest of the night. I will probably do the same next year if I attend but I do think they should do something to change it up.

The reason Universal likes long lines is because the people pass the time drinking $10 drinks and $5 jello shots. They probably pass the breakeven point due to alcohol sales, not tickets. Thanks to the FFP we hit the park just like atricks does, nail the houses early then enjoy the scarezones, see a show and go home. Never have had to buy an Express pass to do it either. Without the FFP we'd probably stay home.

I'm another early-arriving local who dumps a lot of money into the HHN economy due to my Frequent Fear pass. We almost always eat at Finnegan's and have a few drinks during the event. I usually dump $$ on the games, and we buy merchandise in the beginning of the season. We buy Express sometimes...usually early on, when we stay later. Now that we know the houses, we can do 'em quickly enough with Stay & Scream before the lines get bad. If they eliminate FFP, we'll be heading out to Tampa on a lot more weekends. Their express passes and tours are way cheaper than Universal's and we really like Howl-O-Scream as well as HHN in its own way. The FFP is what keeps us (and our $$) here in Orlando.

Just got a quick pic from the new zone...and you're not going to believe who was there....okay maybe you will. But I also have a few thoughts on what else you're going to see next year.
As for FFP and limiting General admission...never going to happen. They will go back to two parks before they do that. They make way too much money on all the FFP holders and all the alcohol that most of the GA buys. And limiting alcohol is like saying limiting the air your breathe....never gonna happen. They sell alcohol in a lot of other places, but this is the only place it gets attention...why? Because it's dark, its scary and its really really crowded...and everyone wants to have such a "magical" time. Do what a lot of the people here do, stick and move..that is go multiple nights if you can and see everything spread out. You avoid the drunks, you skip most of the crowds and you get to see everything which is the most important part....

I am so not a Jack fan.
it did nothing for me over these hhn years...........

thanks erik for the info and link. :yay:

spill the beans.
what are your other thoughts for next year?
:listen:

I wasn't all that impressed by the new scare zone. It's in much too small of an area and so foggy you can barely see, so with huge hoardes of people pushing through it, it was a true cluster. I wouldn't even call it a "scare zone." More like a "look at the former icons and icons who weren't used" kind of place. Maybe it's because I don't get into the whole "Find the clues to next year" thing. I look forward to the website and information being released, but I don't work for it! We went through just to do it and get a couple of pics, but that was enough for us. Give me Horrorwood and Hacktion any day (and the army zone).
