Hello! We had to do some major rearranging for vacation & had lots of pts we needed to use up. Originally, we were at BCV for 4 nights & then other Disney hotels for 5 nts. in July. We just got the idea to try to stay at HH instead of BCV since we just returned from being there over New Year's. I was able to get first night (Sun., June 29) & am waitlisted for the other 3 nights. What do you think my chances are? If we only end up w/ 1st night, it's okay. Good stopping place between Ohio & Orlando. What would you suggest we try to do in one day? (we have 5 children between 3-13) Thanks for any input. We are really excited to at least check out HHI for the future!

We really enjoyed our HHI stay last May. You could spend the day at the beach house for both pool action and ocean time. They have a small food establishment there as well. No slide in the pool. It's pretty quiet but they do have a volleyball net if I remember correctly. Otherwise you could just go to the theme pool in the main resort area which has a fun slide. The CM's do pool activities and they have other activities for children of all ages during the day right next to the pool in the kids club. You could take a dolphin tour. We really enjoyed this. Just a few suggestions. I hope your waitlist comes thru.

What type of room are you waitlisted for? I'm assuming a 2BR because of the 5 kids? You should have a pretty good chance with that; except that you're going into the 4th of July week, which is always a tough one to get.

You might also want to book a Dolphin tour or one of the other activities like that. The area is so beautiful, and that's a great way to see more of it, in a very relaxing way.

Hope you get the other nights at HHI. It is our home resort and we just love it!!!!
We try and make it there once a year. Usually in April but this year it will be in the summer. We are so excited. The kids love it there...so much for them to do. And you feel safe on your own little island.
And it is so beautiful. The rooms, the grounds...just everything.

Thank you for the replies. Yes, we are waitlisted for a 2BR, & after everything I've read, I sure hope it comes thru for at least another night so we can really get a good look around. Sounds like a wonderful place for families!

HH is great. We did an add on there last year. We are in Mentor,Ohio and it takes us exactly 8 hours to get to Charlotte,with minimal potty breaks. At the Arrowood or Charlotte exits there are Amerisuites. They sleep 6 (you could squish the little one somewhere). Usually reasonably priced and have a nice breakfast the next morning before heading out.

Hi: We were on a waitlist (changing our dates from Easter break 4/13-?) for 6/29-7/4 and I got a call within 24 hours that our 2br came through for our exact dates. HHI is our home resort--but I don't believe that matters. Anyway, I think you may still have a good chance of getting your dates. I think most people have not finalized their summer vacation plans yet. Good luck!

Mary--Thanks for the info. Do you go by way of I-77 or I-75 (I suppose I could pull out a map & figure it out, but what fun is that??) From Charlotte, how far is it then to HHI? Thanks again, Ohio sister!! Keep warm!

Hi,

You definitely want to go I-77. I-75 would add about another 2 hours to your trip. HH is about another 4 hours after Charlotte.

We drove the 12 hours straight thru once and it was just a little too long for us. We now always stop after about 8 hours or so.

If the room is not ready when you check in you are still able to use all of the facilities. You could also go mini golfing or check out the outlet mall. Stop at one of the gas stations right when you get off exit 8 and pick up some coupon books. Lots of good info as well as coupons in these.

We are going right when the kids are done with school on June 6th. We were able to book a grand villa. Ask me how exciting that is! Can't wait.
