What is there to do in and around HHI with young kids (3 and 6 at time of trip)? And are the lots of non-seafood options around the area?

Mini golf (pirates etc.) movie theaters, shopping, Nature center, Coastal Discovery Museum, Sea Pines Forrest Preseve, Salty Dog Cafe, boat cruises (like dolphins), visit Savannah, visit Charleston. There's tons of restaurants on HHI, and plenty of non-seafood choices.

We just got back from HHI with two kids, 8 and 5, and they LOVED it. They loved seeing dolphins on Broad Creek, playing in the sand on the beach, getting ice cream, playing mini golf, seeing the lighthouse in Harbortown...there’s a lot there to do! (And we DO NOT eat seafood!) The kids loved Giuseppe’s Pizza, which is near the Kroger and not too far from the DVC resort, if you’ll be staying there. Also, we went to Savannah and ate at the Pirates House restaurant, which we all really enjoyed!

We just got back too. The water is very calm and warm at the beach... perfect for small children.

Extended family went when granddaughter was 3, going back next month, granddaughter now 5 and grandson 19 months. So much to do....Disney has some kids' programming (crafts, etc.), Fishing/crabbing off pier, the campfires (s'mores!). We rented bikes with kid seat and went all over. There is a kiddie area at the resort pool and a small water feature for kids at beach pool. Lots of places to eat within walking or biking distance. Fireworks every Tuesday night in summer and some family programming at shelter cove on Thursday night.

LOTS of non-Seafood options. Several pizza places, BBQ,Greek, Mediterannean, British, and even a Popeye's Chicken!

Heading to HHI very soon for our annual visit. The resort has so many and such a great variety of activities for all ages that there is something for everyone. The pools and beach are a hit with the little ones. Fireworks on Thursday night's and movies at Shelter Cove on Fridays during the summer. Bikes, crabs, dolphins, boats, and more. The food options on the island are plentiful and there is something for everyone and every special diet.

In addition to what’s listed above...

-Gregg Russell is so fun for kids those ages. He does a kids concert under the old oak tree in Harbour Town. Very popular and kids love him. He plays during spring break times, all summer, and does one off shows around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

-Lawton Stables in Sea Pines has pony rides, horses and a little small animal farm. It’s worth a stop with kids, IMO.

-We are seafood people but some of our favorite non-seafood places are San Miguel’s, Santa Fe Cafe, Char Bar, Chow Daddy’s, Fraser’s Tavern & Mellow Mushroom.
