Hi all - We're at HHI now (leaving tomorrow unfortunately). I've about taken all the pictures I'm going to take this trip, so thought I'd post the link here -
HHI Pictures - Sept. 2014
We've had a great trip. It is me, DW and DS39. Our unit is 1921. We had requested marsh view, but checked in late on Sunday and with it being Labor Day weekend the resort was at full capacity, so ended up next to the marina. It was okay, because it was such a short walk to the car. I did get a little irked at checkin, because when I saw we didn't have marsh view I mentioned it to the not so friendly CM. She said well I didn't request it. The thing is I did request it with the online checkin. She said I must have messed up or something happened.
We've only been to the beach once for sitting. Frankly it has been very hot and I just don't enjoy sitting out on a hot beach. But we've sat around the pool a number of times. The crowds were heavy at first, but have thinned out considerably since Monday. Place has been very quiet, which I like.
I thought I'd mention where we've eaten.
Sunday - San Miguels.
Monday - cooked out on the grill behind our building.
Tuesday - Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House in Savannah (our absolute favorite place to eat when at HHI).
Wednesday - Lunch - Signals, Dinner - Scott's Fish Market.
Thursday - Lunch - Bluffton BBQ, Dinner Giuseppe's Pizza.
Not much to say about San Miguels. Okay Mexican food, but nothing to write home about. But it is our tradition to eat there the first night of every trip. This was our first time to eat at Bluffton BBQ. Mike at the pool recommended it and it was absolutely delicious. I told DW, this will become part of our regular routine to eat there. We don't usually eat at Scott's but rather at the Old Oyster Factory instead. But we decided to give them a try this trip. DW had the crab cakes and DS had blackened scollops. Both were delicious. My oysters were just okay. For Mrs. Wilkes we got there at 10:30 and were seated around 11:30. Well worth the wait though. I could eat here everyday.
Anyway, if you have any specific questions, I'd be glad to attempt to answer them.
