I just had the activities sheet faxed to me. There are a couple of tours I am interested in, but some overlap each other so I will need to choose one or the other. I'll list the tours. I woud appreciate any comments as to should I bother with the tours, prices if known, etc.

All of these tours are held on Wednesday...

9:00a Pinckney Island Wildlife Adventure Tour (free) 2.5 hours

9:30a Hilton Head Island Tour ($20/p) 3 hours

1:00p DVC Member Exclusive "Behind the Ears" Tour (free)

All of these tours are held on Thursday...

Secrets of the Marsh (free) 1 hour

Meet the Naturalist -Resort Nature Walk- 1 hour (free)

I've always wanted to do the Pinckney Island tour myself. I'd be happy if I could do it by myself or with the group. Just haven't had time. :(

Secrets of the marsh might also be good.

Did you call HHI to fax the sheet to you? DW and I are going to HHI in late October for the 1st time and we were trying to find out what activities were available. Hope others put their 2 cents in as well.

Will you have a car? If so, you can easily drive to Pickney Island (it's located on the bridge between HH and the mainland). There are places to park and hike around. I think that 2 hours would be more than enough (if not too much) time to see it. JMHO

Both the Thurs. tours sound interesting. I've done some things with the Coastal Museum that sound similar to the marsh tour.

A few years ago they had a certification program you could sign up for which allowed you to give island tours. That's what the HH tour sounds like. Probably very interesting but personally I'm not sure I'd want to give up so much of my vacation time to it (depending how long you are there). There is some Civil War history on the island so if someone in your group it has a great interest in that it might tip the scale. Again, YMMV!

I've done all 5 of the tours you mentioned (a couple multiple times). On the tour of the island, I was the only participant, so the tour was kind of extra-fun, doing things I was interested in. Once on the Pinckney tour, I was the only participant, and although I really enjoyed it, it's so hard for me to say which you might like better. I'd probably say the Island tour, because as others have said, you can easily go to Pinckney on your own (we have several times). The Island tour is a good introduction to see what-all there is. Don't miss the DVC Tour, where they point out a lot of Hidden Mickeys.
I'd probably recommend Secrets of the Marsh over the 1 hour Resort Nature Walk, but come to think of it, on that tour the poor naturalist had a VERY bad cold and it was pretty cold and windy out. So it was a pretty miserable time for all.

Ok since it's our first time to HHI I think we'll take the HHI Island tour! Thanks to all who commented!:goodvibes

Bye - have fun! Glad u are finally making it down there! No comments on the tours as we didn't bother with any...just wanted to say have fun! Drive safe!

The best tours, though not on your list, are the dolphin cruises. There's plenty to learn and it's great to get a perspective of the island from the water.
Choose the last cruise of the day and enjoy the sunset.

The dophin cruise is the only one we did, and it was very worthwhile, and yes, we did see dolphins!:goodvibes

Dolphin cruises are a lot of fun, and definitely a great way to see the island (and some of those huge waterfront mansions). But I've gotta admit that for me, seeing a dolphin doesn't get any more exciting than when you see one "in the wild" around the resort- off the pier or over at the ocean at the Beach House, for instance.
