Has anyone been to Disney's HHI in January? What's it like? Does the resort still run the about the same amount of activities as, say, spring (only time we've been there)? And most important to DH, where can you golf then? Checking a golf brochure last night on golf at HHI, there were no rates for January given, leading him to wonder if the golf courses are open. We're not swimmers, but we do like sitting on our balcony. Is the weather OK for that? And might there still be dolphins in the marina? Any info about that time of year would help us decide when to go.

We were at HH for New Year's Eve and a few days afterwards this year.

It was chilly (but not as bad as Thanksgiving was this time!), but we still enjoyed ourselves.

The activities will probably be the same, but offered less frequently. When the resort is at low occupancy (as it probably is during most of the month of January), they can't offer them as often. Also, don't be surprised, if, you want to do something that's on the schedule, but it is cancelled at the last minute because not enough people signed up!

Golfing is probably possible, but mid-day, rather than first thing in the morning. The courses will offer great discounts, since they are not busy. (I think even the Sea Pines courses had a special going on, if it's ever been your desire to play the Harbour Town course!)

I love Hilton Head at any time of the year, no matter what the weather, so maybe you'll get a less-biased opinion from someone else. ;)

That's OK, disneyholic-DH is biased towards HHI, too. His comment, blasphemous on this board perhaps was "I think I like it here better than WDW". And although he's already played Harbor Town (at a major price, no doubt-he wouldn't even tell me how much!), I'm sure he'd love the opportunity to go back there again. Although he's also mentioned Palmetto Dunes and Indigo Run. One more question, if you don't mind, can you rent bikes in January without freezing your fingers as you ride!?

We were at HHI this January 18, 19, 20, and 21; over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The resort was at near capacity but really cleared out after Monday (20th).

Temps were in the high 50s to low 60s. It was a bit too cold-and windy-for swimming but I was in the hot tub each day.

DH and DS have played Palmetto Dunes and Indigo Run many times. DH likes the Robert Trent Jones at PD the best; it has one hole that pretty much goes out to the beach. The course was closed almost all last summer for reconstruction and they haven't played it since it re-opened. DS likes Indigo Run the best, mainly because the golf carts have computers in them to help with distances and so that you can order your lunch in advance! <G>
:p

My DW and I went this year from 1/25 - 2/1 and the weather ranged from 50 to low 70's. While I didn't golf on this trip I noticed plenty of people on several courses. The resort itself had many activities to choose from. We definitely plan on returning at this time because we loved how quiet the resort was. We were on our balcony everyday and I even managed to get some color. I definitely recommend going in January.

We have been over the holidays 4 times and weather has ranged from 60 to 30's. DH did golf once. Just be aware that some of the restaurants and shoppes close after new year's because it is a down time on island.

We were there for 2 nights at the end of January this year. There was a campfire one night and they had s'mores. That was nice. It was very chilly (barely 60 degrees) and cloudy the two days we were there. I think the day before we arrived and the day we left was sunny and warmer.
