HHI - Early August/Early Sept.

I thought I posted this earlier, but can't find it anywhere

Anyway, we really want to try HHI this summer, but have heard it is really hard to book a one-bedroom during July and August. So, I was thinking about trying the week before Labor Day. Does anyone know if this will be easier to book at the 7-month window?

What is the weather like at this time? What about activities...will we be missing out on special events offered at the resort and the surrounding area (BBQs, fireworks, etc.)?

I believe they will be "at full capacity" during any given summer week / weekend. between end of June and end of August. That said, many states in the south go back to school in mid-August, so there are fewer people making reservations for late Aug.

All one can say is try. Your 7-month chances are better for end of August than end of July. I's suggest wait-listing the individual days you want and see if that gets you what you need.

Weather is still perfect, in fact maybe not as many sweltering days as July. Some activities will slow down, particularly the fireworks, clam bake and the bar-b-que. I seem to recall the week before Labor Day one or all of these are not offered. ( I should remember, this is when we go every year )

You might be lucky with the last week of August, as many people with children will either have to have them in school, or will want to be back home getting ready for school. However, occupancy demand really drops off after Labor Day, and there are sill lots of activities with warm weather. Also, remember that the point cost drops starting August 28, for 2005.

Hilton Head has many more 2 bedroom units than 1 bedroom. If you can afford the added points (e.g. 28 vs 22 Sun-Thurs), you would probably have a much better chance of getting a 7 month reservation.

Thanks for your replies. I am going to try to get anything I can for August, but the last week would be nice for lower points. Unfortunately, we are staying at the BWV in June, so we don't have enough points for a 2-bedroom. I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope for good luck!

We just booked the last week in July at the 7-month window with no problems. We did book a 2-bedroom but I asked about a 1-bedroom and was told that was still available too. So it can't hurt to try!

You've made my day!!! I am going to call Tuesday for the first three nights we want to book (7/31-8/3). Hopefully, we will be able to get either a studio or preferably a one-bedroom!
