HHI DVC busy seasons?

Hello,
We are contemplating to do HHI in the next 2 years or so, and I've been reading all the threads with HHI on it to get some ideas.
Now, after looking over the point charts I see that thanksgiving and christmas are considered low seasons. That makes me realize how much I don't know about this area...

So is there a thread or listing somewhere that tells me the crowded seasons and harder to get room types on this property all the way to the least busy time?
Y'know, something like:

Hard to get time at BWV:
Christmas/Thanksgiving
standard view rooms during Food and Wine festival
etc. etc.

or at AKV:
Concierge level at any time/season

or at any resort except for SSR/OKW:
Early december

something like that?

HH is busiest during the summer months. June/July/August will have little availablity within 7 months. Because of the family destination nature of the area itself, the DVC resort is also very busy over Thanksgiving and much of Spring Break.

There are only 21 Studios, 21 1BRs and 5 GVs at the resort which places a lot more challenge with those villa types - especially during these busier times.

The winter months (December - February) will typically find the greatest availability within 7 months. Late April - May and September - mid November have become very well occupied with 80%+ occupancy during those months too. We just took a walk around the resort this morning and found only about 25 parking spots available.

You might want to try to find a HH owner willing to trade points with you to have access to the 11 month window if you don't want to take chances at 7 months during the busier times.

As WebmasterDoc mentioned HHI is made up mostly of dedicated 2BR units and has no dedicated studios, so trying to get a smaller unit (by splitting up a 2BR lock-off) during the summer months can be difficult for non-owners.

We recently did a HHI add-on for this very reason as the last few summers we were unsuccessful at getting a studio or 1BR unit during June or July. We have had success as non-owners getting 2BR units during the summer months by calling at the 7 month mark, but we wanted the ability to book smaller units during these peak months.

HHI is always at capacity over Thanksgiving, but I don't know how far ahead they sell out. I remember a CM telling me that January-late February are easily available, also, I think I remember early November was a pretty slow time.

I guess I never realized how small this resort really is. For some reason I had imagine it being a really big dvc resort. I'm glad for this board, if not I'd be totally shocked to not be able to get any rooms during which *I* thought to be a slow season.

I also read somewhere on previous threads about members being able to get room using member discount for some crazy cheap prices during thanksgiving. Is that generally true every year? So if for some reason there are no avail during thanksgiving there's a chance of getting a room with cash?

When do they come out with these specials usually?

And are these cheap discounted prices generally available throughout the year except for summer time?

During November (including Thanksgiving) the Member's Discounted price for a 1 BR was $121/nite in 2008. I know that this year it's $89/nite for a studio (I know because that's what we're paying the Saturday before Thanksgiving), and we only made reservations for that nite a couple weeks ago, so although they'll be full, I'm thinking that they don't fill up 11 months in advance. In 2009, there was a Disney Visa special for November, thru the 23rd, and we only paid about $65 for 1 nite in a studio the Saturday before Thanksgiving. I don't think that special came out until around August. Oh-those rates are before tax is added.

The busiest time for HHI timeshares in general is week 24-32 (mid June to mid Aug). The few weeks before and after is also pretty busy but not as much so. Thanksgiving will be fairly busy as well. The lowest times are the first 2 weeks of Dec, Jan and Feb.
