How busy is HH during the week of the MCI Golf Tournament? Can you get around the island (except for Harbortown), during the week days preceding the match weekend? How busy are the resturants? Thanks.

Travel within Sea Pines Plantaion is pretty congested, but you can manage to get around the rest of the island.

Dining is certainly busy, but also very doable.

Enjoy!

I was there last year up to the day of the last practice round, I didn't go to Harbour town but the rest of the Island wasn't too bad, I would advise booking restaurants though as I'm sure the better ones get full pretty quickly.

According to schedule posted on pga.com, Worldcom Classic at Harbour Town Golf Links is April 18-21,2002

I might add that the island is very busy and Harbourtown is congested for the Family Circle Tennis tournament too. A professional women's event that is held in the spring also. I don't know the exact date, but I have been there at the time and moving around in Harbourtown is TIGHT....

I just heard that the Family Circle tournament has moved from HH. Not sure if it's this year or next...

We've been there a few times during MCI week. Happy hour seems to be the most crowded time at the bars/restaurants. Compared to ten years ago, traffic is getting rough on 278. Combine tourists who don't know where they are going, and elderly people who should no longer be driving and things get a bit crazy. Also, the traffic circles make no sense at all. They have improved a few but there are still fender benders all over the place. Considering that, we've never experienced any gridlock, it seems to move along pretty well. Just drive defensively and you'll be okay.

Once you're off the main road and at your resort you'll forget all about the traffic. I like to park the car on day one and bike the whole week!
