Does Disney use Low country nature tours with capt. Scott Henry for this??
Should we make ressies before we go down in May or can we wait until we get there?? The dolphin/beach combing tour sounds good. Anyone know if we get a discount for members??

Me and my family did the dolphin cruise last May and had a wonderful time. We signed up the day before, I believe, and had 2 boats. I believe we did the tour on Wednesday and received the member discount but my memory is sort of fuzzy right now. I'm probably not much help but suffice it to say, we signed up at the resort (we visited over the fairly busy Memorial Day holiday), had a great time and would do it again in a heartbeat!!! :)

We made reservations after we arrived. It was June and we chose to go in the morning, because it can get pretty hot in the afternoons In June. Month of May should be a good bit cooler and you might actually want an afternoon. Don't remember the cost.

You sign up for the dolphin cruise right near the pool. We did receive a discount on Wed. for that, but I don't believe that you receive a discount for the beachcombers cruise. From everything that I have heard, it is worth the extra $$. I would try to go in the morning so that it would be cooler though. You can also take a small cooler on the boat with water, drinks and snacks. Have a great time!!

Two Thumbs up for the cruise!

You can't book it ahead of time.. just scoot on down to the Rec. Window near the pool as soon as you arrive to sign up for that, and all the other wonderful things they offer there.

ENJOY!

We will be going to HHI first week of June and I'm interested in going on a dolphin tour. How long is the cruise? Is there anywhere I can find descriptions of the different cruises offered or can someone help me with more information?
Thanks and this will be our first trip to HHI. I'm excited.

We also booked the cruise after we arrived at HH in April. I believe we went on Member's Day on Wednesday in the morning. We brought jackets with us because the weather was a bit cool. We shared a boat with another family of 3 and had a great time. During the same trip we went on the kayak tour and saw more dolphins than the actual dolphin cruise.

you can look up lowcountrynaturetours and find some info about the tours. I have even called and talked to them. They usually advise booking the week you come so that you know more about the weather. Have a great time.

Has anyone done the dolphin and beachcombers tour? Is it worth the extra $$?:confused3 TIA

When we were there in June 07 they did. We booked our cruise the first day we were there. It was a nice time.

I went on the beachcombing/dolphin tour in 2006. It was a great memory. It is the 2 hour dolphin tour plus a 45 minute stop at a beach on Daufuskie Island. The beach was empty and shells were plentiful, though many were still inhabited. We also found MANY sand dollars. One warning though. The boat anchors off shore and you make your way to the beach in about thigh high to waist deep water and it is MUCKY!

If any one in your party has mobility issues or problem climbing a boat ladder to get in or out this would not be the tour for them.

I lost a water shoe in the muck but it was still a great memory!

Thanks *pixie*dust* for your imput. Thanks for the warning about wading to shore. That's good to know.
