HHI at Christmas, Day Trip ?

I was able to get ressies for HHI for Chrismas week. On one day before Christmas, I would like to do a day trip to Savannah or Charleston. Any recommendations?

Charleston and Savannah are "sister cities" and have a lot of similarities.

Personally, I prefer Charleston. There's a little more to offer there, with the aquarium and plantations nearby. Shopping on King Street and the market are also great.

Savannah is also a neat city and is closer to the HH resort, which counts for a lot, too! If you don't mind waiting in line, you can visit Paula Deen's restaurant.

Another option is Beaufort, which is between HH and Charleston. It's smaller than the other two, but still has a similar feel. All three cities offer horse-drawn carriage tours and have wonderful histories, not to mention quaint shops and great restaurants.

We love HHI at xmas week. Savannah is beautiful and there's alot to do there. One year we just ventured into Beaufort, SC and had a really nice afternoon visiting of some of the historical homes and the museum there. We ate at a nice waterfront restaurant also. I have not gone as far as Charlston for a day trip.

Just check to see if the restaurants you are interested in are opened around Christmas. We took a day trip to Savannah between Christmas and New Years and found several restaurants closed for the week.

Even without the restaurants being open, we still enjoyed t because Savannah is such a beautiful place.

Went to HHI in April. Did the trolley tour of Savannah where we could get off and on all day. Ate at Paula Deans for lunch. Great restaurant on HHI is the Oyster Factory. About 10 minutes from Disney HH. Everything was fantastic (it was not just fish).

At this point, I am not too worried about restaurants - but I'll probably start thinking about it as we get closer to Dec.

Thanks for the tip about Oyster Point - my daughter is allergric to shellfish & its nice to know of someplace with alternatives for her.

Can't wait for Dec now!
