Has anyone received their letter concerning Thanksgiving meal choices at HH? We're making our first trip there this year and was told, on the boards, we would be sent a letter explaining our choices for Thanksgiving meals prepared onsite for our family.

Thanks!

We too will be at HH for thanksgiving. We have not received our meal information yet either, but don't really expect to for another few weeks. We stayed there one Easter and got the meal information about 3 (maybe 4 weeks) in advance.

I suspect we will receive the information closer to the end of October.

I think it will be late October or perhaps the first week of November before this information is sent out.

They usually also include a list of activities for the week, so I think they need a little more time for that. (I think it's an outline of the activities only, not the actual schedule, however.)

It will be well worth waiting for....;)

When we went it was not sent until two weeks before we left on our holiday trip. It was great but afterwards we did check out the Piggly Wiggly nearby and the prices were pretty good there too and we were told just as good if not better.

The thing about Piggly Wiggly, or Publix , or any grocery store is that you have to pick up the meal the day before and reheat it. The one from the resort is cooked fresh that day. (And man, can you smell those deep-fried turkeys cooking!!) You tell them what time you want your dinner and they deliver it to you.

Kind of convenient. ;)

But, I always make my own Thanksgiving dinner while we're there. I take a few shortcuts that I wouldn't do if I were at home, but it's become a tradition for us.

That's funny our neighbors picked theirs up that day as The Piggly Wiggly was open that day. I know I needed wine!
Maybe this a good question for the Piggly Wiggly web site?
Maybe diffrent stores have diffrent rules.

We are going to HH for Thanksgiving too, for the second year in a row. Last year, we took everything with us to cook (I have a great shop/pack list!), and like Dottie (disneyaholic), I took some shortcuts I would not have taken at home. But it was so wonderful to get the turkey started and head off to the beach house and come back to the smell of turkey cooking in our villa.

Looking forward to seeing all of you there!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: We and our kids are so psyched, we are practically bouncing off the walls! We have already started "packing"!

Didn't realize PW was open -- I don't usually shop there, even tho it is closest to the resort. I just remember people having to pick up their dinners the day before and reheat them, which was a challenge for people staying in studios.

Every year we say we're going to try the deep-fried turkey from the resort, but in the end we can't bear to break our tradition. I'm just afraid that one day, DH and DS will sneak by those turkeys and not be able to stop themselves from grabbing one -- they smell sooooooo good.

Even the meal you get at HH comes with reheating directions, so it may not be "table ready". We had a large group last year at HH and we did both, made our own, and bought the deep fried bird. The smell around the resort is the best. However, I think our bird was fried a little too long...it was a dry. The bird we made in the oven was better.

I'm a little sad we won't be at HH this Thanksgiving, I enjoyed it so much, we recently added on to our HH points with a resale!!

I agree the smell around the resort ecpecially the pool area was wonderful! Mom & I sat while the kids were in the pool and did some christmas cards in relaxation!

Please let us know how the deep fried turkey was if you order it as we too couldn't make the leap to the deep fried!

Newarknut,

We got our Turkey Dinner order form/activity info today in St. Louis!!!!:bounce:

Yours should be arriving soon!

Now, I would love to hear from some HH turkey experts as to which turkey they recommend.

Will somebody save us some leftover turkey? :) We will be arriving for the weekend on Friday from WDW! Can't wait to get there again. We love Hilton Head - I think it is our favorite Disney Resort.
