HH Trip Complication - with 48 hours to go

As you can see by my timer, we're due to be in HH on Sunday. Well, DH and the kids will be heading down tomorrow (Saturday), as scheduled, but I can't.

I got word yesterday that my best friend's father has died. I will remain home for funeral activities then fly to Savannah Monday evening.

I'm so heartbroken for my friend (this was sudden, without any warning) that I can't even get motivated to pack up everything for DH and the kids to hit the road. I'll find a way...but now the whole trip just feels different.

What matters is my friend, and I know that. I'd skip the whole trip if she asked me to. But I'm afraid I must confess that I wish I could be there with my family for arrival and checkin and the "WOW" factor of our first DVC vacation.

Alas, some events in life are more important than vacation. And this is one of those times.

I am so sorry for the loss of your friend's father.

We went through this just last month. My brother-in-law passed away the week before we went. DH & I just didn't have the desire to go but we did for the kids. It was a tough choice but in the end what was best.

I hope you enjoy your trip once you get there.
