We've never stayed in a studio at HH before but I can see us staying in one more and more in the future to make our HH points last more. It will just be DW and myself. A question - is there enough room in the kitchenette area for an electric frying pan? We don't do much cooking while at HH as I like to go out to eat at night and might would just have a sandwich for lunch. But I do enjoy cooking breakfast when down at HH, so DW was thinking we could take an electric frying pan to cook eggs and bacon. I'm just wondering if there would be enough room for a frying pan in the kitchenette. My DW wants to go every year to HH and since we only have 80 pts. there the only way to do it will be to stay in a studio. I might would occasionally use some of our VWL points to augment the HH points, but then you get into the 7 month problem and getting a 1BR at 7 months can be problematic (plus I want to reserve our VWL points for WDW of course).

It is very small counter space. But It can be done on a boats galley, it can be done in a studio. My only issue is that your whole unit including clothes, bedding and such will smell like bacon. We break down and suffer through the pre-cooked bacon when we stay in a studio. the first time I cooked bacon, we never got the smell out the rest of the week. I love making BLT's for breakfast on vacation. It is the fresh tomatoes that you can get at the road side at the beach are sooooo good. Anyway the bacon will be the only problem in a studio.

Good point about the bacon. Hadn't thought about that. Well at least I might could so some cheese omelots, etc. Thanks for the support for State. We played a good game, but Duke is just too strong. I guess that's why they are number 1 in the Nation.

I can't remember if there is an outlet on the balcony, but if so, maybe you could fry your bacon and eggs on the patio!

Some studio porches do indeed have outlets. There is room in the studio kitchen to use an electric skillet on the countertop, except perhaps not as much space in the HC units where the microwave is on the counter. I've done just as you are suggesting, as I like to prepare a cooked breakfast and I'm an early riser. At Hilton Head, it's 8am before you can find food anywhere, lol! I would probably starve. As for the bacon smell, open the wndows, bring some lysol spray. At HH, the design of the studios with the kitchen as an L, really keeps the food area pretty much separate from the rest of the room. Enjoy! :sunny:

There is definitely enough room in the kitchenette for the frying pan and it is pretty well separated from the sleeping area (but, I agree about cooking something like bacon).

There are 21 Studios- 16 of them are in the lodge and some have very spacious balcony areas. The other 5 are under the GVs with the wooden balcony. We have stayed in HH Studios a number of times and enjoy the space (they are the largest DVC studios at 455 sq feet) and ambiance of the setting.

Enjoy!
