We are planning a HH trip for August. What restaurants do you recommend?
We went yrs. ago to the Oyster Restaurant-forget full name. It is actually located across the marsh from DVC-HH resort. It was very good. Otherwise we have eaten at the resort or cooked.
Any options in Shelter cove or elsewhere? :confused3

Just got back last week. We had wonderful restaurants at Truffles, located near Harbour Town, and at Hudson's on the Decks, near the bridge.

If you're looking for take out, try a Weggie from Guiseppi's.

We love Old Oyster House also! Try Scott's Fish Market at Shelter Cove..it was very good..small and friendly(with our son when he was 10); Kingfisher at Shelter Cove was OK for early bird specials, but can't comment on other times. Hilton Head Diner is great for breakfast (24hrs) and everything diner food wise. Guiseppis at the mall next to resort has good pizza, italian dinners and salads for casual food. Tried the mexican restaurant at Shelter Cove and it was just average, but nice choice.
Connears

Let's see
Marleys--caribbean/cuban food. At the entrance to Sea Pines in the shopping center with Harris Teeter
Red Fish
The Boathouse--right next to where you catch the ferry to Dafuskie Island
really fun to eat outside on the marsh with live music playing
Hilton Head Brewing Company--also at the entrance to sea pines--DBIL used to work there--like the atmosphere, fun and good food
Skillets--in coligny plaza, definitely a breakfast hot spot. Now that the new one is open, much larger
Wild Wings--definitely one of our favs--if you like the buffalo wing thing--fun place to eat--next to one of the adventure golfs

That's all I can think of now--there is another place that we ate at last time and for the life of me can't remember the name. DBIL friends opened it and still managed it last summer--it was sort of a throw back to the Frank Sinatra/martini bar kind of place. Really cool--it was before you enter Hilton Head Plantation. If I think of any more will post again!

We really liked Hudson's too, as did Rachel Ray (Food Network). We also like Cafe Europa, It's Greek to Me, and Captain's Seafood (I heard that moved-used to be close to the resort). Next time we hope to try the Sea Shack, the Jazz Corner, Old Fort Pub, and Signe's, all of which have gotten good reviews.

Another vote for the Old Oyster Factory. We've eaten there everytime we've gone to HH and always been pleased. We weren't wild about Hudson's. Don't know if it was just a bad night or what, but it was sure busy so others must like it fine. We enjoyed Marley's, and Redfish as well. I'm going in two weeks with some friends, I'll let you know if we try anything different that gets a thumbs up from us!

I asked my husband what the martini bar restaurant name is--Franky Bones--it was really good. And i asked him what his fav. restaurant is, and he told me the Tiki Bar at the Holiday Inn--okay so not a restaurant, but they do have good drinks right on the beach! :sunny:

Also, just thought of something, we always eat at Crazy Crab in Harbor town when we go--sort of tradition--also there is a great breakfast place across the street from the playground in HarborTown--and again the name escapes me--My il's also love the Old Fort Pub

Hi Noreen :wave2:

We tried the Sea Shack last summer and loved it. Very casual and down to earth. Food was great. Very much a local place. We look forward to dining there again this year.

It's kind of hard to find, but I'm sure if you ask at the resort for directions, they'll be able to give them to you. It's off the beaten path, tucked back in more of a residential area.

We also usually dine at the Salty Dog (my 11 year old's favorite) and tried Smokey Bones last summer as well.

I actually prefer to cook at Hilton Head as we find it's easier. More than I do at home, that's for sure.

Second vote for Truffles and for the best Mexican food in the south (we all know California has the best) Mi Tierra... yummy...we're heading to HH today and will eat at one of these two for lunch :moped:

We hit the Big Bamboo at Coligny Plaza (upstairs) every trip, really good food, great prices, excellent service!!! We never miss it!
:thumbsup2

We were disappointed in Hudson's too. Even tried it again our second trip and no improvement. Always had great meals at Old Oyster Factory and love the views, looking across the marsh to Home.
