I don't recall ever seeing this addressed before, so I thought I would offer some advice to first-time visitors. We live in NC, and lost all electricity last Wed. evening(12/4), and were getting very conflicting reports from Duke Power on how long we would be without power. I spent all day Thur(12/5) trying to book a local hotel room for 6 people, and found to my horror that most hotels were completely full, and were charging outrageous prices, and we would need 2 rooms, of course. At 6 pm, I called MS and was able to book a room at HH for the night, and we packed our bags with a flashlight and left at 9 pm when DH arrived home from work. I did not ask for directions from MS(I know I should have), and I did not take my guidebook...just my confirmation # written on an index card. We arrived in HH at 1:30 AM, and I immediately stopped at an all-night hop-and-rob to get directions. The clerk had never heard of Disney's resort!! I drove a few miles on 278 and stopped again, and again, and no one knew of the place! Luckily, at the 3rd stop, a clerk from the Marriott resort was fueling up, and offered to show us where the resort was on her way home! We were looking in the phone book, and were about to call the resort(which was listed in the phone book) for directions. By this time it was 2:30 AM, and I had actually passed Shelter Cove 3 times without seeing any signs. I am directionally challenged, but even my DH said it was hard to find, so be aware if you are arriving after dark for your first visit. I wish I had something to report on the resort, but we were only there for a few hours. We were in a 2-bedroom in bldg. 13(I think it had a "marsh view")...I think that was a marsh I was looking at while I was on the phone at 10 AM trying to book a hotel for the next 2 nights. If I had known that Duke was not going to be able to restore our power until late last night(12/11), I would have just stayed at HH, as it looked so nice and peaceful.
