HH question

I was just at HH....what a really great place.....We could not rent bikes because they were all rented out by the time we got there...we arrived Sunday.....can you book the bikes in advance or do they just have very few bikes????

Not sure if you can rent bikes in advance or not, but I certainly wouldn't say that they "have very few bikes". I'm sure they're doing a balancing act of having the right number to satisfy as many guests as possible during the busy season, without having so many that it's unmanageable and too costly for the slower times at the resort.

The resort has always been very helpful in finding another place for guests and members to rent bikes. I know in the past, the outside places have always matched the resort's price, although I don't know for sure if this is still the case.

Sunday is the BIG check-in day at the resort, due to the high points required for a Saturday night stay. Many people stay nearby the night before and check in at the resort early Sunday morning so they will have access to the facilities. If you arrived late in the day on Sunday, this could explain why all the bikes were already rented.

As stated, they do not accept advance reservations for bikes. We were there over the Easter holiday and were told that at busy times they usually run out of bikes early on Saturday morning (which they did at Easter time). The easiest time to get bikes from the resort is generally early Friday afternoon due to checkouts. However, the resort gave out cards that listed an off-site rental agency who delivered bikes and were the same cost as the resorts. We got bikes from the resort (due to a tip from a CM to get right over and rent the bikes Friday night before the rec office closed), but it appeared that those who used the outside company were treated well and happy with their bikes.
