HH or VB--easy to get?

We are almost ready to put in an offer at either SS or OKW. We thought we may want to visit HH or VB sometime in a spring or summer. Is it hard to get availability there at the 7 month mark? We would probably be staying in the lowest point rooms at both.

Just trying to think of everything before making a large purchase....

I have been a member since 2005, (SSR), and have tried for the past two summers to get a studio in HHI in August with no luck. I have a friend who has been successful in getting a Resie in June by calling one day at a time. In retrospect I wish I had bought at HH in the first place because I almost never go to WDW at peak times and am not too particular about which resort I stay at there, so I may have better luck at the 7 month window there.

We just joined DVC (AKL) and are planning our 1st trip. We are planning on getting a 2 BR at HH for the week of 13 Sept. Anyone have experience getting a reservation for HH in Sept for a 2 BR?

For VB in June, I think you have to call at the 6-7 month mark. I was able to get a Garden view, ocean view wasn't available, for June in December. I have another DCuz who wants to come with us and I called in January and she's on the waitlist. I own at VB and have a Beach Cottage and 2 ocean view rooms for the same time period that I booked 11 months out. The two latecomers to our group will be in garden view rooms or maybe even DCuz will have to be on a pull out in the Beach Cottage.

Remember that both are very small resorts. HH is harder at the 7 month mark than VB. The peak season at HH is summer. My son has used my HH points in the fall and said the island is fabulous at that time, so that might be a good option for you if you purchase at WDW.

We had no problem making a reservation at HH for Spring Break (March-April)

Had no trouble getting HHI for Spring Break since it's not beach weather @ SC in spring. In the summer - HHI is the only DVC resort I have not been able to get at 7 months - and that's trying at 9am for day-to-day booking!

We've tried to go in June/July for the past two years and have not gotten in - ended up doing Marriott last year.

We will be at HH May 3-9 in a 1-bedroom. Booked 7 months out day by day with no problem

We have stayed at VB or HHI over a dozen times between April and November. We don't own at either.

We just booked HH 2bdrm for 5 nights in May - no issue.

We own VB and love it.
VB is very busy in winter months (retiree's) but spring summer and fall is available pretty easily as long as it's not last minute bookings.

The resale for VB is quite less then WDW resorts, the maintenance is $200 per year higher. You may want to consider buying VB.

I own at HHI for that reason..i dont care where we stay at WDW but i do want to put in a lot of time at all three WDW, HHI, and VB.....bought at HHI because of low cost and lower maintainence fees than VB..dont want to go to Disney but about every other year....this summer we are staying at OKw and SSR...next summer hopefully a GV at HHI in the summer...already know my dates to call at the 11 month point

I just booked VB at the 7 month mark. I only inquired about OV Inn room, GV Inn room and studios. All were available to us for our entire stay. I went with the GV Inn room (lowest points), so as to conserve points. But I was pleasently suprised I got a reservation & had a choice of the three different rooms. This is for August 11-19.

I only tried HH one time. I called 6 months out for a reservation during the May 20-24 time range. Can't recall the exact dates, but I was able to get a studio which is all I requested at the time for May by calling in Jan.

How difficult will it be to get a studio at HH for Friday night of Memorial Day weekend, checking out on Tuesday at 7 months?
