Anybody gone or is going the first week of June ? This our first trip to HH. We will have 4 adults and 3 children (9,6,4) staying in a 2 BR. Any ideas or suggestions of activities, places to eat, which building to request, etc. would be greatly appreciated. We need something to get us through the cold, blustery winter that is quickly approaching. The other day my BIL said 190 days to go. We went to WDW (WLV) at the beginning of October. We usually go this week and would be going to MK right about now. We'll turn our focus on HH now and look forward to warm, sunny days. Thanks in advance.

We went the second week of June last year with DS 11 and 12. We had all these plans of taking day trips to the outlets, Charleston, and Savannah..but guess what....we fell in love with the resort and never left!!!

There are all kinds of activities for adults and kids. A few that we did were the Dophin Cruise, Goofy Bingo, Behind the Ears Tour, Magic Show, Legends of the Area, and Shadow's Tales.

Even though we did so much, we still felt as though we had a very relaxing week. The pool is fantastic (and warm). The beach is great for walking or riding bikes. We found all kinds of treasures right after a storm.

I could go on and on..please e-mail me if you need more info!

I was in such a hurry when I first replied and noticed the many errors! I just edited my mistakes.....I'm SO embarrased!!!

Both Savannah and Charleston are very enjoyable trips, IF you have a car. I wouldn't try to do both in the same week. I'd also recommend leaving early, so you are there by about 10:00 AM.

We've done both and really liked the one day away, and having our "home" to come back to.

Also, in June, there should be plenty of time for the beach, beachhouse activities, shopping, dining, etc. With all the daylight, you should have a wonderful time.

Same as KarenB. The Dumbo family (don't laugh) which includes 3 daughters ages 15, 12, and 10 spent the third week of June, 2001 in a 2 bedroom at Disney's Hilton Head Resort. Like Karen, we had big plans to tour all around Hilton Head Island. But guess what? We never left the resort. Just back and forth between the Beach house and the resort. Don't worry. Your kids are gonna love it!

We also spent a glorious, relaxing week at HH last summer. So much so that we just completed an add-on so that we can continue to spend a week there every summer. Our kids loved it (6 and 1) and my son recently told me he'd rather go there than DW. It's such a different atmospher than we expected. Much more relaxed. We're looking forward to going next year and doing nothing. We'll ride bikes to the beach every day and swim at the pool. Crabbing is lots of fun. If you plan on crabbing, they say chicken necks are the best bait. We haven't tried them yet (couldn't find at the local grocery store) but found the thighs worked well. As for room location, as for a view of the creek. We requested a second floor unit because of of hearing the feet of the people above us. Can't wait until it's our turn to "go home" in July.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Very helpful. What's the weather usually like at the beginning of June? I noticed a post where people were discussing driving to HH. Has anyone driven from the midwest? How long did it take you?:pinkbounc

We are in Lafayette, IN- about 2 hours south of Chicago right on I-75. HH is a 13.5 hour trip for us. We usually stop near Knoxville as a halfway point.

We've been going to HH for about 20 years now and truly love the island. The DVC resort was a no-brainer for us. June will have warm temps, with the island activities in full swing. I agree that trips to Savannah and Charleston are great options, but we rarely leave the island- as there is so much to do and see there.

All sorts of water activites are available (canoeing, kayaking, fishing, crabbing, shelling, parasailing, moonlight cruise, dolphin cruise, etc.). There are over 300 restaurants on the island, offering something for every taste and many boutique shops to browse. Tennis and golf opportunities are plentiful. Rent a bike and enjoy miles of bike trails- we like to explore the tabby ruins and Indian mounds located in Sea Pines by bike. ....and, of course, my all time favorite is just taking a leisurely stroll along the beautiful beach.

The resort itself has a wide variety of activities for children and adults. For a special treat, make an advance reservation for "A Private Affair" with Chef Gordon.

Enjoy!

We are from a suburb of Chicago and drove last summer with 2 kids (1 & 6)....making a number of stops, we made it to HH in about 16 hours.

Thanks Doc and cgcw. That gives us a good idea of how long it will take. Doc , hope your feeling better. I really appreciate you taking time to respond and sharing your expertise .
