Friends of our just made ressies at HH for next week, 3 adults and 3 small children. The question is, what is there to do for a week, this time of the year? Is the weather conducive to outdoor activities?

We were at Hilton Head in December of 2001 and had a great time! We didn't engage in too many outdoor activities but had a great time spending hours at Big Murgy's Den playing pool and checkers. We ate at some great restaurants and did quite a bit of shopping at the outlet center down the road. It was even warm enough over a few days to visit the beach house and walk on the beach dipping our toes in the Atlantic Ocean. It may not sound exciting but we had a wonderfully relaxing week and the trip was enough to convince my DH to purchase an interest in DVC! Have a wonderful trip.

We spent a couple of days golfing, one day was taken up with a beach horse ride, a guided nature walk, a few sessions round the pool , visit to the Premium outlet mall, a sunset dolphin cruise, a walk along the beach and a few visits to some of the other stores in the area. The aren't really any "whole day" things to do at HH but a lot of halfday activities. It gave us the opportunity to have a relaxed time and not have to rush anywhere. We also took an hour or so going round the local art gallery that has a lot of Wyland paintings ( there is a similar gallery at the BW in Orlando). If you don't know Wyland is a well known wildlife (mostly marinelife) artist.

The weather was a bit of a mixed bag. First 3 days it was in the high 70s (was nice pool weather) next 3 days was low 70s (ok pool weather) last 3 days was in the mid 60s ( hot tub was real nice, pool was heated so it was ok in the water, but chilly when you got out). This was in December, but I think the weather can be variable pretty much anytime from November to March. It's usually ok, but you can get a cold snap at any time.

HH does offer some good kids programs, there are also some nice adult ones. We spent a nice evening at a wine and cheese tasting (while DD went on a pizza and movie evening that the DVC organised) . Chef Gordon does a number of food and beverage evenings and they are well worth attending, if the kids are of an age that allows them to be entertained by the kids activities. Best event of the vacation was "A private affair" which is a meal cooked by Chef Gordon of the DVC just for your group. This is now done at the Beachhouse, but when we attended it was in a 3 bedroom grand villa showhouse used for DVC presentations. Wonderful food, plenty of wine and he's a very entertaining and informative host about DVC and the HH area.

Just returned from a four day stay (Jan. 18, 19, 20 21) The resort was at 70% the first two days and at about 50% the second two days. Although the pools are heated to 82 degrees, it was awfully cold when gettting out of the pool. I prefered the hot tub at 104! Air temps were between 55 and 65. However, winds were up to 30 mph. Beautiful clear skies.

The weekly activity sheet included in the check-in material did not list as many weekly activities as other times of the year. For example, on 1/20 all listings included; Dolphin Discoveries; Bird Watcher's Heaven; Longview Arts and Crafts; Beach Nature Walk; and Goofy Bingo.

Almost all of the shops in the marina were closed.

We walked on the beach every day. In total, I probably saw two dozen people.

Hioe that helps.

We were there in December and the weather was in the 60's and sunny. It was great for bike riding, walking the beach, having picnics, etc. We did go on a dolphin watch but the wind was really brisk so it seemed colder than it was. We sat in the hot tub every day, and DH even went in the pool.
