HH in Summer?

How difficult is it to get ressies at the 7 month window for a 2 bedroom unit at HH in late July, or early August? If we bought in we would probably go to WDW every other year, most likely in the early part of August or in November for a long weekend (around Veterans' Day). I'm under the impression that it is not that hard to book at WDW at the seven month window for summer. We would prefer to be in the Epcot area. Any suggestions on where to buy in? (HH or BCV) Thanks!

don't know for sure - that I have heard that it is very hard to get HH in the summer - the Epcot area is also hard to get - how about buying both 150 points at each - then every other year you would have 300 points to us.

HH rooms are bigger, but the BCV is so nice - and you can walk to Epcot!!!

Our situations seem similar. I knew we'd want the 11 month window at Hilton Head for the summer months and holidays school breaks (Thanksgiving and Christmas) and we would be going to Disney every other year so we'd have some flexibility there so the 7 month window would be fine. Of course, I'd go every year to Disney but DH won't agree to that. He was against a DVC purchase completely until we stayed at Hilton Head on cash in December. It is a wonderful resort. No Space Mountain or RnR though but a wonderful place nonetheless. He agreed to a purchase within our first 24 hours there. It is peaceful and beautiful and the 2 bedroom units are wonderfully spacious.

Having said all that, my heart of hearts is still at the Epcot resort area probably because that is the first place we stayed at Disney. I love Hilton Head as a home resort but I wouldn't cry any tears if a BCV add on suddenly appeared in the mail (hint hint for my DH). I know that we can get something on property for our every other year stays if we are flexible and don't try to book at a peak time. If its BCV or BWV fine if its WLV or OKW that is fine too. For us Hilton Head was the perfect compromise. I hope this helps you some and I look forward to welcoming you home when you make your decision!

I have to agree, the same ideas were in my mind. HH is a great compromise for us as well (especially since the drive is very doable - airfare for five gets expensive everytime you vacation). I also have to get DH to realize this is a good investment. I'm glad to hear he was easily persuaded after a visit to HH. As for location at WDW, I'll stay just about anywhere as long as it's on site. Thanks for the info, you have me convinced to go for HH.

I recently secured ressies for a 2BR at HHI at the six month mark for the end of August. I thought this was going to be a "No Can Do" but I was surprised to find that they DID have availability.

"QueenD" - it does sound like we are "soul sisters" or something, doesn't it?

Seriously, it took me two years to convince my husband to join and it wasn't even me that ended up convincing him in the end, it was the resort! I wish I would have thought of that two years ago.

Anyway, during the winter months HH offers AAA specials (I got a quote for $140 with tax for a two bedroom) and this past December we were able to get a 2 bedroom villa for $115 per night and that was with tax (this was a Disney Club special). We weren't signed up for the DVC tour (hubby wouldn't agree to it ahead of time) but there was message left on our phone the next day inviting us to make an appointment to talk to a guide at the preview center. I was so surprised when my husband said we could attend the presentation. We did and there was absolutely no pressure whatsoever. We went back to the room talked a bit and he was all for it. He said our HH vacation was the most relaxing vacation he had ever taken and the two bedroom villa just blew him away!

If you do decide HH is for you, you may want to take a trip down and check it out. The drive took us 12 hours and it wasn't bad at all. If you have any other questions about the resort, just holler!
