Contemplatiing trying out HH this February. Doing the cruise this month, OKW in March, but have a school break in Feb. I really don't want to Disney the family out.

Just curious about the weather, checked the average highs and lows.

The rates/points are really good that time of the year. Thought about VB but flights to MCO are sold out.

Anyone?? Thanks!

We usually go to WDW in February or April each year because the kids are on vacation. We were thinking we might want to try HH some February or April school break. What are the temperatures like then? Also, you said you were quoted good rates -- would you mind sharing those? Thanks for your help.

I don't know if they were public rates or DVC cash rates, I found them on the Members Only sight under Hilton Head Rates. There is also a Members special, with great rates, not sure if this applies to existing members or prospective members.

I'm not a DVC member, but we're tentatively planning a February trip to HH. We live 4 hours away, and the weather is usually not too cold here in February, so it should be really nice on the beach. I got a coupon for $89/night for a 1 bedroom villa from DC.

We've never stayed at the Disney resort, but Hilton Head is a wonderful location. It's a beautiful island, with great zoning restrictions so nothing is too tacky. There are miles of walking/biking trails, lots of great restaurants, and nice art galleries and interesting shopping.

We spent a long weekend at HH in February 2001 and loved it! It was a bit chilly, could not swim at the beach, but did swim in the pool. the evenings were cold, but very nice! the activities were great and my DD looked all over the island for Shadow. We heard her in the bush, but never able to see her. Maybe next trip? We loved it and would go again, the beach, town and area were not crowded!

Feb is really off time. You might also check into trading a studio for a 2 BR at one of the Marriott properties, especially Grande Ocean or Barony. You should be able to do this easily through MS. If you know someone that is a member of II, you might be able to pick up time at DVC or one of the Marriott properties even cheaper. Maybe less than $350 for the top Marriott's and $799 or less for a 2 BR DVC for a week. I'd look online but the system is down right now as it usually is on Sat night for maintenance. I can check tomorrow if you need me to. Regardless, should be a good time to go if you want to relax and not have much crowds. I haven't been that time of year but would expect some of the places are closed or have scaled back hours. Good luck.

Looked on line this am. The first half of Feb was wide open. I say I 2 BR DVC for I think $699 for a week and 2 BR Marriott's including Barony for $279. The second half of the month still had pretty good inventory but the prices are currently higher more like $699 for the Marriott 2 BR during the 2 weeks around MLK but came back down the very end of the month. I'm sure they will come down in about a week to week two.

It's on the Beach and sits around the Westin in Port Royal Plantation. If you go onto the island, it's around mile marker 4 (I think). As the road through the Island (Hilton Parkway, not Toll road) curves to the right, you take a left. It is a new Marriott just being completed. It sits on a strip of land that circles the Westin. They are 2 BR/2 BA units at 1270 sqare feet. The resort is technically Oceanfront but that is a little misleading. There are 2 rows of buildings starting at the ocean running parallel to each other. The long axis of the buildings run perpendicular to the beach with the Ocean front units on the end of the buildings. There are also 2 building across the road termed garden veiw units which are the most likely your would get but certainly not automatic. There is an indoor pool and I think the outdoor pool is heated. There is a full Spa as well. This time of year you would just as likely get oceanside as garden veiw. Oceanfront is less likely simply because there are fewer of them. Marriott's Barony Page

I like Grande Ocean better but I didn't see any of them for early Feb though you never know what will come up. If you could get GO, that would be even better. GO is on the Beach between Coligny Circle and the beach entract to Sea Pines. All of the units are either Oceanside or Ocean Front. Many of the oceanside units have a real view of the ocean, unlike at Barony. DVC is a great resort but not the best value this time of year. I'd also consider many of the other Marriott's to include Heritage (if you are an avid golfer), Harbour Town and Monarch especially. Certianly Harbour Point, Sunset Point, Swallowtail and Spicebush are good but not in the same quality as the top 3 I mentioned above (DVC, GO and Barony). OTOH, some of the rest are inside Sea Pines and/or have relaxing views so I wouldn't totally discount them.

Thanks for the help - maybe I'll try it in July. Not warm enough for a winter trip for me;)

Pluto,

I got a *great* cash rate for HH at the end of Feb - $109/night for a 2BR! Couldn't resist that. :-) It was through the Disney Club; I found it on mouseplanet.com.

From what I've read, it looks like the temps top out around 60-62 in late Feb. That's ideal for us, we just want to walk around and explore the beaches and the island, and maybe check out Savannah. Anyway, after a couple more months of snowy PA, 60 degrees is going to feel positively tropical!

We were there the last week of February last year and the weather was beautiful--high 70's at least. We swam in both pools and walked on the beach (too cold to swim in the ocean), went on the dolphin excursion and had a WONDERFUL time. It was not crowded at all and so beautiful and relaxing. It was so warm that I actually had to go buy some "summer" clothes because what I brought with me was too heavy. Not sure if this was "normal", but it was great! We can't wait to go back.
