How is HH in December? Can you swim in the pool? What activities are going on for the kids?

Thanks

We have been quite a few times in Dec. Twice for the week of xmas-ny and (DS was 6 and 8) the weather varied form 60's one year to 30'-40's the other. Our DS swam in heated pools when it was 60's but we just walked the beach and enjoyed the non-Boston Dec. There are tons of kids and adults activites. We had peppermint candy ice cream making, southern snowball fights(with white socks!), kids night out with movie and pizza, cookies and stories, campfire, marsh explorations, goofy bingo, adult crafts (gel painting) and many water activites including kayaking and dolphin cruises. We have stopped for one night on the way home from WDW for NYE the last 2 years and just enjoyed making our own dinner and snacks and watching football! I love the resort off season.

Were you able to see any dolphins that time of year?

We're interested in a "first week in Dec." trip because of the low points, but still want to be able to enjoy hikes/ kayaking/crabbing/ dolphin or fishing tours/beachcombing/ seeing wildlife if possible... how likely do you think it would be?

Were there any naturalist programs offered while you were there?

Thanks!

We have been able to see dolphins from our room that faced entrance to Shelter Cove, but I don't know if it was dec trips. There are explorations of Pinkney Island in dec and DS and DH did it one year and thought it was great. The marsh exlporations and dolphin trip are listed in dec.

I hope they still have the dolphin trip in Dec. We did one in September and loved it!

We have a contract at HHI with Disney for ROFR right now. It comes with 325 Hold status points that need to be used by 2/1/07. I was wondering how busy HHI is between Christmas and New Years. With the Hold status points not allowing us to book until 60 days from check-in, do we have any chance of getting in @ HHI during this holiday week?

We have been to HHI resort for 2 xmas weeks and both times the resort was pretty full. Only once were we there for xmas day, but have been there for 4 NYE's(most recetnly just for NYE 2004-5 and 2005-6 on our way back from wdw). The occupancy does fluctuate during that week so you may be able to get some nights. Also there are very few 1 bedrooms and so you would have a better shot at 2bdroom, I think. We have had a 1bdroom only once and have had a 2bdroom everyother time. The points per night are very low for sun-thurs at this time for HHI. We are staying 12/29,30 this year also in a 2 bdroom, but paying cash(members discount (fri. & sat. ). Its worth a shot, there are a lot of activities at the resort and we really enjoy it at this time(weather can range from 60's to 40's from our experiences).

Connears,
Do you know if the resort has activities for teens? We are thinking of trying for a Christmas/Ny's reservation, but I'm worried that my children (16 & 21) might not have anything really geared toward their ages. They both love nature-related activities; it sounds like there are still some of those going on in December.
