How is Hilton Head in late August. Looking for a place to relax for four days without to much walking since my son will be recovering from leg surgery.

We went a couple of years ago. Veeerrryy relaxing. August could be tough to get if you don't have ressies. I've heard it's sold out for the whole summer.
We'll be there 8/12-15. We have been HHI many times but the 2 summer vacations were in late June and Mid July. I am anticipating Hot and Humid as it was in July....I am planning on relaxing and praying no hurricane warnings that week!

I personally find it hard to relax when it is 95 degrees and 95% humidity, but HH in general is a great place to relax. I usually go in the winter and love it. Of course, I heard HHI can be a zoo in the summers, but late August should be better. Plus, if you plan on sticking around the resort, it shouldn' bother you too much.
I'll be there Aug 26-31.
This will be our first relaxing vacation since we had kids, the kids don't know how much we plan to relax though
Will you have a car? With your son's recovery, you may find it easier to drive to the beach house, and out to get meals (if you choose not to cook)
A few years ago, my son broke his foot at WDW a few days before we were heading to HHI...
For the most part, he could get around and do everything.. There were a few things like bug hunts in the marsh and etc. that would have been a bit tough, but beyond that no problems.
When you call - make sure you request a room in the main lodge, as all other buildings require at least a one-floor walk up and there are no elevators except in the main building.
