We are headed to our first trip to HH in May. We are taking a family with us and I am a little concerned on the maximum guest policy. We have 9 going and are staying in a 2BR. While the accommodations will be plenty big for us, Disney only allows 8 per policy and per MS. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there a secret Disney KGB that I should be concerned with?

Thanks!

This will get closed down real soon. DVC says a 2 bedroom sleeps 8 plus one under the age of 3. You will get bedding and linen for 8 only.

Thanks - I'm not really concerned about the bedding. We have a young child (although older than 3) who will be sleeping with us in the MB. My question is will Disney be on the lookout for a violation like this and send us to Disney prison (i.e. the Motel 6 down the road)?

They will not do a bed check. If you tell them 9 when you check in, they will likely not say anything. You must be your own conscience in this situation. If you have a dedicated 2 BR, you should be OK as I think these have 2 queen in the second BR like OKW. Good luck and have a great trip.

Speaking as someone who recently stayed at Hilton Head next to a party of well over four in a 1br meant for four, I can say that I have a very specific view on this matter. Rules were made regarding the number of folks in a room based on the bedding, number of people it will comfortably hold, and llegal code requirements based on square footage. Apparently many people choose to overlook the rules on this matter and hope they don't get caught.

Bottomline, you as the Guest get to decide if you will abide by they rules presented or overlook them. Of course, I feel that if people continuously break the rules, the accommodations will quickly deteriorate due to excess wear and tear.

It looks like we will thankfully be checking out a few days before your group arrives. Sorry, but the room isn't meant for nine people. Plus, I honestly feel the insulation at HH is the thinnest out of all the DVC resorts. It is the only place where we found that you can hear people on every side of you, including the people BELOW you! You know it is wrong and against the agreement that you signed, so why do it?

Wow! I didn't mean to stir up so much animosity. My justification on why 9 is ok is that the living room and the master bedroom of the 2BR is identical to the 1BR at all DVC resorts. I am staying at a 1BR at BCV in March and 5 is A-OK. But at HH, it's not. I bought into DVC with the expectation that all resorts are the same. But evidently, there is a special policy at HH (not sure if fire code or what).

A one bedroom at BCV will hold 4 plus one under the age of 3. That's five. Not five over the age of three.

The official maximum for a 1 bedroom is 4 plus one child under 3. The maximums are the same for all DVC resorts, there are not exceptions by resorts. As Dean said, they do not do bed checks, they will probably not say anything at either BCV or HH. But I would not say "A-OK", especially on this board.

Unless your 5th member at BCV is under 3 then someone gave you the wrong information. As stated DVC unit occupancy is the same at all resorts, 8 in a 2 bedroom, 4 in a one bedroom unless one member is under 3.

It is listed in your Member's guidebook and on the DVC website Quote:
One-Bedroom & Two-Bedroom Villas One-Bedroom Villas have a master suite, living room, fully equipped kitchen, and private porch or balcony. Accommodates four adults plus one child under age three in a crib.
Two-Bedroom Villas provide an additional bedroom with a private bath, one queen-size bed, and a double sleeper sofa. Accommodates eight adults plus one child under age three in a crib.

I understand the occupancy notations on Disney literature. However, I booked the BCV for 5 in a 1 BR and MS said it was perfectly fine. My DVC Sales Agent told me it would be fine as well. That's why I was a little surprised at the HH policy.

I have no doubt that was the case, but if it is why don't they change the literature in the DVC manual and guidebook. It is really confusing to everyone.

Also I asked MS once if they tell people it is ok and they always say they never do. It's sad they can't keep their stories straight.

I know others have been told the same thing.

Your legal paperwork says otherwise and you signed either a product understanding checklist if you bought from Disney or a deed that says you'll abide by the rules if you bought resale. What someone told anyone has NO meaning in this situation. Disney is not known for consistency in the information provided by it's CM. Still DVC has not shown a lot of interest in sticking by the rules here and will likely not police this area. Some have been told they couldn't make reservations for over the occupancy lately and others have been allowed.

As always, occupancy questions generate soem interesting comment.

The stated occupancy for all DVC resorts (OKW, VB, HH, VWL, BCV and SSR) for studio and 1BR villas is four, plus a child under the age of three. No additional bedding or linens will be supplied.

Disney will not do a bed check and many have brought inflatable bedding for their extra guests without challenge by the resort staff.

Further comment on this topic is welcome on the Debate Board.

Thanks!
