HH Golf

We will be visiting HH for the 1st time this June. My DH and My DM both love to play golf. Can someone provide some names of good, reasonably priced courses? Do we need to reserve tee times ahead of time? Will the courses be crowded in late June and tough to get tee times? Any info would be appreciated.

We just came back from HH and DH played 2 different courses (slowly working his way thru all the HH courses). He wouldn't recommend Indigo Run. He really felt like an outsider there and greens weren't in good shape. Shipyard was OK. Matt, a CM at the front desk at HH, recommended 2 courses at Palmetto Dunes, right across the way-the Arthur Hills course and the Robert Trent Jones one, for friendliness and quality of facilities. DH had the resort reserve tee times in advance and although he's not sure, the rates seemed slightly lower than advertised to the public. I wouldn't expect the courses to be too crowded in June-kind of hot, time for the beach, but you never know-golfers can be a pretty dedicated lot!

Wow, sorry your husband didn't like Indigo Run -- that's the favorite of my DH and DS! I'm hoping that maybe it was just a bad day in the off season, not that the course is going downhill!

They also like any of the three Palmetto Dunes courses, and Shipyard. They've also played one of the courses at Port Royal -- Robbers Row, I think -- and enjoyed it as well.

I would definitely recommend reserving tee times. In the summer, you'll want to play either very early in the day, before it gets too hot, or at the end of the day, and those tee times go the fastest!

There are a host of decent courses in the area, many of them are reasonably priced. To find out the best deals I would suggest stopping at one of the golf outlets/stores in the area and picking up a few of the free magazines that give information on the courses and contain discount coupons. We popped into the shop that is quite close to the resort (basically exit the resort and when you get to the main road turn right) I'd guess it's about a mile on the right of the road among a little row of shops. The owner there was very helpful in giving some ideas on the courses in the best condition and giving the best costs.

I believe that the DVC has a deal with the "Palmetto Dunes Resort" courses..........That is, the three courses 'right across the way' as noted in prior responses (Arthur Hills, Robert Trent Jones, and George Fazio), so the MS (or HH front desk) will always recommend these first.............In my opinion, these are the best "bang for the buck" while you are there.............

If this is your first trip, I'd go with these three..........they are all beautiful and reasonably priced, due to the DVC 'association'..........and if the plan is to play more than this, branch and and see what is down there.............If golf is your plan, then this is your place.......there is more golf in HH than you can "shake a stick at"..........
