We are going the last week in March, and hoping the weathers warm enough for the beach. We're driving down with another couple (adults only trip) and we are bringing our own beach chairs and umbrellas. Can we just walk onto the beach under the beach house with our own chairs and umbrellas, and can we bring a cooler onto the sand with cans and bottles?

TIA

Yes, you may bring your own chairs, umbrellas and coolers. Late March is often warm enough to enjoy the beach - but the ocean will still be a little cool.

Enjoy!

Hilton Head does have some regulations:

From: http://www.hiltonheadisland.com/beach.htm
Prohibited at the Beach all year long:
Liquor, beer or wine.
All forms of glassware.
Shark fishing.
Horses.
Sleeping on the beach after midnight.
The operation, launching or landing of motorized watercraft ( except in emergencies ).

Well, I don't know what your idea of "warm enough for the beach" is, but in several late March trips we've taken, the warmest it's ever been was around 70 degrees, and that's only two out of about 15 days. The rest of the time, it's usually been upper 50s to low 60s. But when we're at HHI, it's always colder than usual. It's getting to be a joke-"The Timms are going to HHI next week, no doubt it will be freezing." (One year it literally was one day). We promise to avoid late March this year.

As a fellow Long Islander, if the water temp is 70, that's warm!! If you see people in the water at HH, you know they are from up north, lol. We've been there in early April and all of us swam, it was lovely!

I don't care much for swimming in the ocean (fear of swimming in the ocean:confused3what can I say, must have been all those times I got knocked down by the waves as a kid!), but I'll say this.....I'm beach crazy enough (and my friend joining us is worse!:lmao:) to have, in the past, hung out at the beach in Atlantic Beach, LI, in 55 degree weather.....in the RAIN!
Yup, those umbrellas keep more than the sun out!!:goodvibes

I've been there first week of April 2x and it was gorgeous. We'll see, but I'm not worried, it's the company thats going to make this trip so special...and the relaxation!
