Hey! You had your trip, this time I'm in charge! Nicki & Todd LIVE!! Completed :(

Wow!!Not only Queen of Dis but also the Queen of Self Control!! I,too, live on Lactaid but that cipcake would have been devoured and consequences be darned! I LOVE all things pumpkin and am hoping against hope that all things pumpkin&delicious will still be there the 1st 2 wks of Dec as I love pumpkin way more than I love peppermint!;) Can't wait for more!

Those cupcakes look awesome! I am now craving for something pumpkin. In fact, I think I'm going to go to Whole Foods and get pumpkin cheesecake! :lmao: Unlike you, who have self control of eating just one bite, I might not be able to stop after the whole slice! :rolleyes1

That pumpkin cupcake looked great! I might have to try one sometime. Your chicken looks great too!

You are right about it getting cool last night! We thought it was very cool yesterday morning at Epcot too. We were all bundled up, except for my husband who didn't believe me that a cold front was coming through, lol.

See....you just needed to get away from work, family, etc., and relax and I knew you'd get a good nights sleep.

Have fun today. Romeo sends a kiss.

We had a very nice day, give him a kiss back! I need another good nights sleep but I want to get up earlier than today

Looking forward to all the updates and pictures of yummy food too! Of course, also looking forward to Todd's picks of the day!!!!! You are one smart lady!!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: The pumpkin cupcake looks yummy but I understand the one bite and you're done theory. I don't have a problem with lactose but my gallbladder does not like heavy whipping cream and chocolate nor fatty steaks!!!!! If I bend the rules, I'm miserable for 24 hours!!!!! Have a great week which I'm sure you will!!!!!!!! :)

Todays reviews are coming right up! My thing is I dont want to miss out on anything and if I can just have a taste I will be happy, so far it worked!

Can't wait to see pix from the Wave!! Only way I'm ever going back there is if breakfast is good :lmao: I love the ambiance of that place, but the chicken and waffles were just too weird for dinner, lol!! Hope it's not too chilly!

More photos coming right up! It was pretty cool today but it was nice and the sun was out and no clouds in the sky at all!

Mmmmmm that cup cake looks amazing!!! We'll be hitting up that bakery forsure! Glad you got to treat urself a little.:goodvibes

I love that bakery!!

Yummy that cupcake looks amazing. I wish I had that this morning instead of my boring old oatmeal.

Oh yes, it is so much better than oatmeal!

So whatdidyadotoday??? huh huh?? come on tell us :banana:
It's a beautiful day and I am sitting inside working...I would so love to be in your shoes (without the lactose deal that would kill me...sorry!)
M

:goodvibes Self control is pretty easy when you know the price you could pay later :rotfl: Just a taste is good enough for me and no issues with the lactose intolerance so that was good! I hope they have pumpkin stuff when you get to WDW!

That is going to be tough for me, I love cheesecake and I love pumpkin, I looked at FF menu and they have it for dessert..might just be another one biter dessert!

Great first day meal and treat and the weather is nice, its cool but not cold so that is good! Good thing we checked the weather huh? ;)

10 day forecast looks like it's going to warm up a bit with no rain! :cool1: Hang in there! Can't wait to read about your day today!

What a gorgeous day! After we got showered and dressed it was time to see if my pick and choose chart I made for Todd would work..it did but not in the way that I thought it would :lmao:

DH decided a nice breakfast inside was in order so he chose The Wave (thank goodness because I really wanted this!), quick stop at the valet and off we went.

The CR was a total nightmare at 10am, it was packed with people and it was loud with screaming kids and people all over the place. Finally maneuvered our way to the The Wave and it was just about empty and we were seated immediately.

DH had coffee and I had Lavendar Earl Grey Tea, both were very good. It was a no brainer to get the buffet...I didnt ask what was lactose free, I just used my common sense and took a Lactaid as a precaution.

This is Todd's plate of bacon with a few other items, cheese and bacon grits, scrambled eggs, he loves grits and said these were very flavorful and creamy, biscuits and gravy and a sticky cinnamon bun. He loved the bacon, said it melted on his tongue and it was very smokey flavored (he liked it and I dont like that kind of bacon), eggs were a bit runny, biscuits were not too soft but not hard either and the gravy was very good, loved the cinnamon bun..it was warm and gooey which is right up his alley. He had a few plates but I just took picture of plate #1

Here is a fruit plate, it was meant to be for the both of us but while I wasnt looking he devoured the entire thing! No worries, I made him go back for more!

Oct21003.jpg

My plate was one eggs benny, this was very good but the egg was cooked too hard and I like mine very runny, some delish sausage links..nice and thin and tender, a bite of scrambled eggs which were too runny, potatoes were very good and a croissant which I had a bite of and then Todd ate the rest. I really enjoyed my plate!

Oct21002.jpg

Todd had the sweet potato pancakes with pecan honey butter and he loved it, I think he had 4? I have one bite and it was heaven...nice and sweet but buttery and nutty and just excellent...darn you lactose intolerance!! I could have eaten platters of these! I had alot more fruit and some wheat toast and DH had cottage cheese and blueberry yogurt with some house made granola. There is so much to eat here and we left full but not stuffed, which is a good thing.

We both loved our breakfast and would def come back on another trip...the only thing that was a bit weird was it was so dark in there, since there are no windows it gave you a very closed off feeling, dont mind that at night but in the morning it made me sleepy :lmao:

Since it was so quiet I was able to get close up shots of the buffet, will post those next.

I am glad, Todd chose the Wave!

Quiet at t:thumbsup2e Wave ...... sounds familiar, as are your photos! We really enjoyed breakfast there and I am glad you found something you liked too!

Can't wait for more yummy WDW food! :thumbsup2 popcorn::

After breakfast I kinda thought that we would go to DTD and see Footloose and have lunch there...I mean that is what is on my chart right?

ME - You ready to hit DTD?

Todd - Nah, not in the mood to see a movie, lets go to AK

ME - But we dont really like that park

Todd - Thats because it is always so hot and today its cool so it will be nice to do it today..plus they have those pretzels you were telling me about

He is talking about the jalapeno cheese pretzels...I guess he does listen to me :rolleyes1

We drove over and the parking lot wasnt busy at all but man the park was just loaded! I think we got there at 11am and as we were coming up the little hill Todd elbows me and says

Todd - Look at the sea of heads

Me - I'm short, all I see is a lot of legs and butts!

The park was just slammed, the wait to get the FP for the Safari was 20 minutes! Just to get the stinking FP!! After we grabbed them we where sorta pushed along with the rest of the people, in the direction of Everest...that is where I lost my husband. As I am telling him I have to use the ladies room I realize he is no where around....I stop, turn, try to spot his tall self and then I see him...in front of some little building, it was an egg roll stand!

Me - Um hon, what are you doing

Todd - (eyes all glazed over) Egg rolls

Me - Yes I see that but we just ate breakfast and you cannot possibly be hungry for one now?

Todd - Shrimp pork egg rolls

That is all he needed to say because at that moment I understood....he can never find these in the other parks, shrimp pork are scarce, usually you get one or the other but not both together. This was his pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and there was no way he was going anywhere without these treats.

Me - I am going right over there ok?

Todd - (looks at me and says) Egg rolls, not going anywhere

Me - Got it...be right back

When I meet up with him he has one in each hand and he is not too patiently waiting for me.

Todd - What took you so long, hurry up with the camera already

Yes my friends, he is trained correctly. No bite shall be ingested until a picture has been taken and approved for posting :lmao:

Me - Why did you get two

Todd - Did you see the size of that line?

Me - Um babe, you were the only one in line because it is 11am!!!

Todd - I didnt want to take the chance that they would sell out...want a bite?

Me - UGH! Grossville...you can knock yourself out!

Here is a picture...I swear the boy inhaled them both in under 60 seconds. If you look closely you can see egg roll #2 in his left hand

Oct21025.jpg

As we were walking away I had to get an ice tea from the tea stand by Y&Y, this one was an unsweetened cranberry pomegrante and it was excellent!

Oct21022.jpg

We had fun in AK and were making our way back to the Safari...with the FP we blew right through the line, lots of animals out today since the weather was so nice.

When we were done I was desperate for a drink and Todd decided it was time to try the jalapeno pretzel, how he can snack so much is beyond me. I grabbed a coconut water (love this stuff and do not remember WDW selling it in May) and DH had the pretzel

If you can believe this Todd didnt like it...not one bit. He said it was just eh and he prefers the regular ones. I didnt try it because I dont want to waste a bit of lactose on this, I would rather save it for something better :rotfl:

Then it was time to leave AK and I hear

Todd - Whats for lunch?

Yes I am dead serious!

Those pancakes are awesome! They remind me of the ones that had at Boatwright's before they stopped serving breakfast.

Jill in CO

We were both getting tired so we decided to go back to the resort, grab a sandwich somewhere and rest in the room. Stopped in the room to drop off our coats and found a present waiting at the foot of the bed.

Thank you so much to Karin and Tom (Dizneeat) for the wonderful birthday gift, you guys are too much and we miss you very much! Trying to get away for Feb so we can see you two again!

Oct21032.jpg

You are more than welcome, Nicki! Just hoping your birthday trip is extra special!

The idea was to grab the mugs, get some drinks and have a sandwich from BWI Bakery but nothing appealed to DH so we went next door to ESPN for wings.

It was so gorgeous outside but no tables available so we sat inside and had a few ice teas.

DH had the hot wings and he didnt like them, he said the sauce was very thick like a spicy bbq sauce but the meat was nice and tender, not overfried.

Oct21036.jpg

I had the turkey on whole grain bread with mixed greens, cranberry mayo and brie. I asked them to leave off the brie and when they brought it to me I took a picture first and Todd noticed the brie was on the sandwich. We had the side of cucumber salad but neither of us liked it because it was so sweet

Oct21035.jpg

This is a pic with the brie. I was going to take the brie off but it was spreadable and the bread was toasted so it melted into the bread and I couldnt eat it so Todd flagged the waitress down and they brought out another one for me.

This was ok, I think I would have liked it better if the bread wasnt toasted.

ESPN wasnt a hit with us but maybe we didnt order the right thing?

Oh how sweet! Happy Birthday!!

I didn't realize the wave had a buffet breakfast! It looks very similar to the offerings at the Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club! Those eggs were even too runny for me and I like runny eggs. I actually add milk to mine when I scramble them at home.

That's great he found those egg rolls!

I never had one of those pretzles either. It doesn't look anything like I had pictured in my mind from the written descriptions.

I never noticed the coconut water. How did it taste? Was it sweet?

Love your reviews. We leave for the world on Monday. I got worried when you said you dropped off your "coats" is it really that cold there right now? I was packing shorts and tee shirts.

Hope you have an amazing time and I am looking forward to reading more about the food you guys are eating.

That breakfast buffet looks really good! And I love seeing all of your snacks. I never did find that egg roll stand in AK, and I'm a big egg roll fan too ;)

Breakfast - looks great...can't wait to try it for the first time...time for something new, right??!! I am so glad to see your pictures from the buffet. I was most looking forward to the sweet potato pancakes. Well, what I had pictured were like potato pancakes (think hash brownish), only made with sweet potatoes. So, I was way off!!! LOL I would have been looking all over for them!!!

AK - the egg roll looks great...don't know about at that time...I believe my stomach does in fact have a clock!! LOL Coconut water...never had it, but sounds interesting! My drink of choice in AK is a Lost on Safari from Dawa!! :cloud9:

ESPN - never been...not sure we will? For whatever reason, we never make it over there. When I do though, I will be looking for that pumpkin cupcake! We are eating at Big River Grille, so hoping they still have them then!

Glad you had a nice breakfast at The Wave. The sweet potato pancakes are yummy! I also love the cheese and bacon grits. I think breakfast here is a hidden gem.

The vegetable egg rolls from the Kiosk at AK are my favorite snack in WDW. They are always so hot and fresh and have large chunky veggies in them rather than the fine filling you find in most.

It sounds like the cooler weather is making for a pleasant day!

Enjoy!
