Yea I too would rather go to a "named" grocery store then go into walmart. They seem to keep cutting the # of items on the shelves of somethings I usually buy; while what is there goes up. Oh and god forbid you have coupons!

Another store you have to keep an eye on is Krogers and the e-coupons that you can load to their loyalty card. Some times they don't show up onthe registe screen. That's why i print a copy of my e-coupons and take it along with me to show to the customer service to get my money for the coupon. Hey every little cent helps support my disney habit

A store continuing to overcharge us when they know the prices are wrong are costing us all money.

Which is costing the consumer more money? $0.02 overcharge on a single item or an increase of $0.10 on the price of all items because of "frivolous lawsuits"?

In some areas you might not have the option to just shop somewhere else. In a rural area, Walmart might be the ONLY store available. In urban areas, the store that overcharges may be the only choice if it's closest to your home and you do not have a car.

I've had issues at Target on rare occasions, mostly someone forgot to take down a sign or they restock with the wrong product size... I've learned to "read" the signs to determine sales stop dates and compare UPC codes on the shelf tag with the product on display. Scan-scan-scan... at least at Target there are enough scanners to do quick price checks.

Walmart, not so easy to price check as there are only two scanners in the entire store... and you are lucky if they actually WORK.

I was recently overcharged 50 cents, I remarked to the clerk that the price on the shelf didn't match.. BIG sigh and rolling eyes, mumble, mumble...
Never mind, I will pay the extra freaking 50 cents to avoid the hassle. Have a nice day!


hee heee, I kinda liked the screw up someone in the meat dept did at Super Target. They put $2 off peelies on short dated chicken thighs, the natural pricey kind, AND they did a "price cut" to $2.99 (you bet I scanned that sucker!)

Yep I paid 99 cents per 20 oz package!
So sometimes those price errors work in your favor.

I wonder just how many people that are quick to point out being overcharged, are just as quick to point out being undercharged? I doubt its very many.

A human element is involved here and so long as that is a piece of the puzzle, mistakes will happen, whether you are shopping at Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, Kroger, Sears, or wherever. If a store has 10,000 items in it and the managers only make mistakes 1% of the time (which is pretty optimistic), that is still 100 items with pricing errors. I also think that most people try to do a good job and get their price changes and inventory changes done accurately and in a timely fashion but sometimes they don't. And FWIW, sometimes the item is ringing up correctly but the signing is wrong. Again, human element of someone not changing a sign (or a hoodlum messing with the sign - I've seen it happen).

I won't say that she is wrong - she is a consumer advocate and she succeeded in bringing this issue to the attention of the store. I'm just not sure if fraud is the word I would use...mistake, absolutely. I would like to see her shop there, purchasing different items from different departments, over a period of time and then keep track of how many items ring up incorrectly. That would give a much better big picture of how well this store does in pricing.

I know we can all say about this time or that time when something rang up incorrectly...but honestly, I purchase hundreds of items a month at Wal-Mart and I can't remember the last time something rang up wrong. If something does come up wrong, I tell the cashier and either they override it at the register or I don't buy it. Do I really think that cashier is going to call that department manager to let them know about the mistake? Absolutely not.

I actually DO remember the last time I had something ring up wrong - it was a Rapunzel doll I bought DD for her birthday in April. They had dolls of all the princesses on a display and marked $19.95. I had seen the Rapunzel doll in a different store where she was marked $24.95. Since she was $5 less at my local store, I picked her up. Sure enough, rang up for $24.95. Took her to customer service where they gave me a refund...and promptly went back and fixed the price. I guess the toy stock person didn't realize there were 2 different price points for those items. The price in the computer was correct - the one on the display was not. Do I think they were trying to defraud me out of $5 - no. Someone just made a mistake.

OK, I'm done now. I get the whole "principle" of the thing, but using the legal system in this way just leaves me with a bad taste. You'd think they would at least learn to fix the stuff she brings up to them!

Guess where i went today ??? WalMart and bought alot of the summer clothes for a dollar and 2.00 needless to say alot of it was ringing up higher prices but i said i watch when they ring up like a hawk so i caught it .
Plus i felt good when then messed up and put our favorite toilet paper next to sparkle paper towels mark 10.48 from 16.97 that was a good 6.49 X3 i saved thank you Walmart

Why sue just go to customer service and get the difference back. People are way to sue happy

I completely agree. I am glad someone finally made that comment. Is it okay for Wal-Mart (or any other store) to overcharge people intentionally? Not at all! But a lawsuit is not the answer. Who pays for that lawsuit? The customers do because in the long run the prices are raised. It is our responsibility to look at the receipt to make sure we are charged correctly. Yes, it may be a pain in rear, but it is betting than hiring a lawyer!
