Hi!

Not even sure how many people are still here that have a clue as to who I am. ;)

It has been a while. The past year of my life has been an interesting one to say the least... full of ups and MAJOR downs. Things are looking sooo much better now and we are even planning our next WDW vacation.

My photography has also been slowly taking off. I have photographed several graduating seniors recently as well as being asked to be the photographer for our local Relay for Life calendar. That was a HUGE job. I took photos for, did the layout, the design and about 80-85% of the advertisements placed in the calendar as well. It went to press on the 12th and I can't wait to see the finished product. I will probably cry!

Anyway. I just wanted to stop by and say hi to old friends. I just might be hanging out a bit more.

Look forward to touching base with those of you I have chatted with in the past and as well as getting to know those of you who are new (to me).

Hi DVC Jen ... see another fellow Texan is a "late nighter" like me. Really makes DH mad though when I crawl in bed around 2 AM!
Been a hard couple of years for us too - 27 yr. old DD's husband passed away; waaaay to much hard work for DH who is an elected county official; ups & downs of the housing business for other DH's husband and, much to my dismay, I am now unemployed:eek:! BUT ... also been a GOOD year watching DGD's (ages 8 & 4) grow and become active in so many things AND our (thank God paid for) upcoming family vacation. Will be at the "happy place" in a few weeks :cool1: in a 2-bed at BLT and then joined by sister and niece later in the week. AND then there's football returning :banana::banana: ... big Cowboys fan! Always try to look at "the glass as half full" (really, really hard sometime but have to try)! Time to take the doggie out one more time and go disturb DH. Good-night.:tink:

nice to meet you. :) Sorry to hear about your DD's husband. That is super hard. Nothing like that here - just annoying stuff. :)

We just booked 10 nights at our home resort VWL. In Nov. I am hoping to change that so our last 5 nights we can go to BLT (really hoping for MK view). Our youngest will be graduating high school next year and she really wants to stay there. You will have to let me know how you like/love it. :)

As for football - how 'bout them cowboys! ;) Hope they have a great year. So sad to see Texas Stadium come down. We are close enough we could have gone but it isn't something I wanted to see. Sad enough watching it on TV.

Not too much has changed Jen. There are still a lot of the regulars around. Gdad told us that he is in a slump and has not been posting too much. I hope he turns it around :thumbsup2 Some of the long timers only pop their heads in once in a while. I think the economy has had some effect. The really good thing is that the general presence of our board has not changed! :thumbsup2

To tell you the truth, there has not been all that much happening. It has been a lot of new users asking about what to buy. I personally upgraded to a K-x and have been very happy :woohoo:

If I remember correctly, you had a serious scare with one of your daughter's health about a year ago. I really hope all is well there

Lastly, welcome back!!!!

:) And Kylie is doing GREAT! She just got her Associates of Science with a specialty in early childhood through grade 4 education. She is going on to UNT (University of North Texas) to get her Bachelors. She also just got a job working part time in a church nursery and is looking forward to that.

I don't remember if I mentioned what happened with her or not. She had her 3rd brain surgery 2 years ago. It was totally unexpected and really shook us up. She was born with hydrocephalus and has a shunt in place. She went 11 years between her last 2 surgeries to replace the shunt and didn't show any of the normal signs of it being blocked until it was at the critical level. That in itself is scary and something we have to keep an eye on. Any little sign that could just be stress for another person could be a sign of a blocked shunt with her. It almost makes me wish she did get the bad headaches and other obvious signs, but she doesn't.

I am just so thankful that there are amazing surgeons in our area and for them shunt surgery is a walk in the park and something the prep time takes longer for than the actual surgery. It will never be a walk in the park for us.... but it is nice to know some of the best neurosurgeons in the country are within minutes of us.

Is Jan still around? I have thought about her often - as well as many of you.. and hoped everyone was doing well.

I guess since it is 2:30 in the morning I should probably stop reading the threads and think about going to sleep. Something about summer makes me revert back to teenage-type sleep patterns. ;)

I was just thinking about her the other day. I have not seen her in along time.

I know the feeling on the sleeping patterns, but I do it on a weekend basis. I have a bad habit of staying up way to late on weekends. I gut up for work at 5AM on weekdays and sometimes do not go to sleep until then on weekends!

DVC Jen? The name sounds vaguely familiar. You used to post here?

Wait, I think I remember now. We met at the Magic Kingdom in Fantasy Land. You were carrying a 5D Mark II with a 24-105 f/4 IS lens. Your daughter had a Dxx series camera with a 24-85mm. I'm bad with names and faces, but I can usually remember cameras.

Hi,
Nice to see you back. Good to hear your business is taking off.

You and I are in the same boat. I do VERY little shooting these days and hardly post here either.
I even considered NOT taking my DSLR to WDW on my most recent trip. (Just back on Tuesday). But I took it in the end.

Think I'll do a trip report but post it in the "Trip Reports" baord. Seem to get a lot more feedback there.

Anyhoo see ya and goodluck. :thumbsup2

Hey Jen welcome back to the boards. I remember you, not sure you would remember me though. I'm not a prolific poster but have been around here posting on occasion for a few years now. I read here way more than I post. Hope to see you posting regularly now that you are back!

Welcome back! Glad things are going better for you.

I was also thinking about Janet recently when I ran across her name on an old thread. Her last post was quite a while ago. I bet she had computer problems or something but hopefully she's ok. If anyone knows her IRL it would be nice to know.

Will let you know on BLT. Stayed at VWL last Sept. and loved it! Oldest DD was nice enough to let her M-I-L and I stay at the Villas while they stayed in the Lodge. Really, really liked the privacy there. Younger DD couldn't go back to Disney yet (they honeymooned there) so her Daddy took her to New York/DC area. We're going to try BWV for 2 nights also but won't get to spend a lot of time there. Sat. arrival will be check-in before we head to Cocoa Beach (DGD's have not been to a Florida beach and we have a favorite restaurant in CB ... haven't been there in 10 years!) and Sunday the rest of the family group will enjoy Harry Potter. As for me ... I'll spend a little time in the park area but a lot more time at Bubba Gumps and Starbucks! :lmao:
Glad to hear your daughter's doing okay. It is sooooooooo frightening to have a sick child. We spent the better part of a year at hospitals with SIL. My niece is at UNT working on her Masters in Accounting. She's employed in Dallas area and recently bought a house in Lewisville. She sent me a picture of Texas Stadium as it was being dismantled. Told her "no more" ... couldn't bear to watch it go. BUT ... the new stadium is AWESOME. :worship: I was speechless when I saw it and then 7 yr. old DGD was amazed. Youngest one just wanted to eat more grapes! Thank goodness for the large TV screen or I'd have missed half the game!:rotfl2: :tink:
