Hey Mom, Do I get to be the line leader again? A PTR…(My TR has started! - 6/1)

New update for the summer trip, Megan. As of this morning..we have booked airfare!!! We will be flying in on the Saturday (still need to get a cash rezzie somewhere.. perhaps Kidani???), and then check into the THV on Sunday!!! Not going to miss the 12 hour drive!!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah! I know you'll have a good time, and I would be super-excited right now too.

I don't think I could EVER convince Bryan to fly rather than drive. We drive to DTD. We drive to the resorts where we like to dine. We drive to the water parks. He says that he just can't see himself there without his own vehicle (not some rental). He laso says that he doesn't see the saving in time. Whatever...He is counting the hour to get to the airport, the two hours to be there before the flight, the two hours to fly there, the time to get a rental/get checked in for ME, etc...Each time we talk about it, he just sees it as a hassle. At least I finally had him cross over the dark side...I can't have it all!

Thanks for having my back, Leanne!

BTW Randy, what's the flight info for May? What time you leave NO? What time you get to Orlando? Same thing with departure day...

Depart Sat 1:20 Arrive 4:10
Return Fri 6:15 Arrive 7 pm

So you are telling me.. Bryan doesn't see the benefit of leaving New Orleans at 1.. and checking in at the resort at 4???? Are you kidding me :rotfl2:

As opposed to getting up at midnight.. driving all night.. and pulling in at noon or so the next day with little to no rest?

Don't get me wrong.. the drive is not THAT BAD.. but if I can avoid it.. and take an hour and a half nap on the plane while flying.. I'm SOLD!!!

But it's cool.. like you said.. he is getting better.. we just have to be patient.

One more school day :yay::banana:

He definitely did not see the benefit when I showed him the prices of the flight with a refundable ticket on SW. He does not see the benefit of spending at least $100 each way per person versus spending the money for 3 tanks of gas. I would be shocked if I could EVER get him to fly there. He looks at the trade-off you are making - cost vs. time. He likes the 10 1/2 hr. drive costing him ~$150 maybe less (varying for gas costs) over the 2 hr. flight for $1000 (flight including taxes/fees). He also takes into account the fact that he likes to use his truck on property. That $800 for the flight is now increased because he would want to have a rental so that he can drive when he wants.

I think this trip I may change his mind on departure times though. I think he will feel better about splitting the drive up with 2 hours left to drive on Saturday morning. We'll be able to have a full day in the park on our arrival day.

Yall doing the park hopper in May? We're talking about maybe skipping it this trip.

Also, he doesn't look at it as leaving NO at 1 and getting to Orlando at 4. He sees it as leaving Houma no later than 10, getting to Orlando at 4, and getting to the resort by about 5 (after ME check-in, resort drop offs or getting the rental car and driving ourselves). To him, it is a 6 hour process. Spending an extra $850 for a savings of 4 hours is not enough for him to even consider the possibility.

Yes we are.. we just like the convenience of park hopping. If it was just us, we may have skipped it, but with the Prosperies, we decided to hop again.

If he would try it.. he would see the benefit.. TRUST ME!!! ;)

Trust me. Bryan with his mathematical, logic-based mind will not see that it is a benefit to spend over $800 to save 4 hours. As much as I complain about the drive, I would rather spend the money on the trip rather than on a flight.

But some of his math is flawed I think.. for example..

1. Don't we both have to drive to New Orleans anyway???
2. Don't we both have to wait for our rooms at checkin for the same amount of time?

I forget how much time Bryan added on for these two.. but they are a push in my opinion..

So let's take this just a step further...

If Bryan adds the time waiting for the plane.. you should add the following to your time as well:

Packing for and then packing up the truck - probably an hour or two.. and because you will pack more due to driving I think that should add more time to the "drive time" over the plane ride.. so add at least one hour to drive time over plane ride. Next.. you guys will have to eat at least two times.. if you stop at Cracker Barrel (which you know you will do), and a "quick place" that will add at least another hour or two plus another $75.00 or more to the price of driving, we eat "free" on the plane with NO STOPPING..then you will need to stop at least once or twice for bathroom breaks and gas and snacks.. so add about another 30 to 45 mins to the drive time for that.. now finally add in "traffic time" for occational road work or God-forbid an accident.. add another 30 - 45 mins.. so if we add all that time up.. hmm carry the one..

That puts us at about +4 hours more time added to the "drive scenerio".. so now you're looking at close to 16 hours drive time.. vs. the 2 or 3 hour fly time.. not to mention the "fun" of dealing with your wife and kids for 12 hours in the vehicle the whole while having to concentrate and STAY AWAKE while you drive vs. snoozing on the plane..

Still don't see the benefit???

ok, ok... don't want to get into a fist fight over it.. I just think you guys should try it ONCE before you just dismiss it..

But it's cool.. no one no one has to fly... if Bryan IS AFRAID of flying that is totally cool with me..just so long as we both end up in Disney safe and sound is all good with me..

I still say.. try it before you knock it.. once he does.. I know he will take another step into the dark side!!!

In about 24 hours.. we will be headed to Disney...:woohoo::yay::dance3:

Yall have fun! I look forward to giving the message to the boys this evening.

Believe me. I am not getting upset about this, nor do I think we need to meet each other in the parking lot after school to get in a fist fight over this. HAHAHA

Bryan did say that he wants you to time how long it takes you to get there tomorrow - from the time you leave your house to the moment you pull into the hotel parking lot.

I wouldn't count packing time because we both pack. I don't pack clothes for everyday. I wash my clothes while I am there. Plus, I keep my WDW box packed all year. Packing up the truck for us has never taken us longer than 10 minutes - 3 suitcase (the boys each get a little one for them to pull),1 WDW box, 1 bag of videos, 1 grocery bag of the snacks I bought, 2 pillows & blankets. I pack as I fold clothes after they have been washed, so I place them in the suitcase rather than a drawer.

We know the drive time since we have done it enough. With stopping to eat breakfast at Cracker Barrel, gas stops, and bathroom breaks ( we only stop once to eat), the drive has been about 11 hours the last 4 times.

The discussion of benefit is just in travel time since you will have to pack just like we do.

Traffice time & accidents are not constant factors just like flight delays are not constant factors either. Therefore, they are not factors to be considered.

Like I said, he wants you time it from the time you leave the house tomorrow morning to the time you get to the hotel regardless of whether your room is ready or not.

BTW, the time estimate for the drive to NO was about 45 minutes, and we have always counted it as getting to the hotel not getting into your room. That part doesn't matter in travel time.

DEAL! From the time we leave the house to the time we arrive at checkin.. I will document it!!!

Then we'll do the same thing with you guys when you drive this summer. Make Bryan time the entire travel time from the time you pull out of the driveway until you pull in to check in!!!

Sounds like great fun!!!

By this time tomorrow I will be at Disney World!!!!

Really looking forward to the scavenger hunt tonight as well.. can't wait to see the boys expression!!!

Thanks again Megan for helping us with the scavenger hunt, it was unforgettable. Zach's expression at the moment he realized it was worth all the planning, and all the difficulty keeping it from them. We leave in a couple of hours or so, I will take note of how long it takes us. You and Bryan be prepared for random texts from Disney.. in a way you'll be coming with us!!! It will be a fantastic trip, and I'll be sure to update everyone here on it when we get back. Have fun with the TR, and we'll see you all again right after Christmas!!!

Hang on, Mickey.. here we come!!!

WOOOO HOOO! They are gone! That calls I had at 4th period is now moving on. They weren't horrible all the time. It's just when it was bad, it was REALLY REALLY REALLY bad.

Now that I ha ve finished with the stuff that keeps me super-busy during the school year, I'll have time to focus on the important stuff - DIsney planning and discussions.

Today, the boys and I are going to a birthday party at the bowling alley. Bryn and his friend are building shelves and doing some wiring for Sam's room. Why you ask? Sam is getting a new tv for his room. We have an DVR in our attic, so he will also have satellite in his room. He is also getting a new DVD player as well.

Bryan's dad is also coming over to the house to hang out with them. He likes to build, so I am sure he will work on the shelving. Bryan has also stained and varnished my hope chest and a box we keep our blankets stored in (for the living room) after 10 YEARS of begging him to do so. He is probably going to do a light sanding on it today again and re-varnish it today.

Saints play the Cowboys tonight. WOOO HOOO!
