Hey Mom, Do I get to be the line leader again? A PTR…(My TR has started! - 6/1)

WOOOO HOOO!
Saints play the Cowboys tonight. WOOO HOOO!

GEAUX SAINTS! Just and FYI, we have done both the drive and the flight from BR and we will always do the drive. We just like to go when we wanna go, stop when we wanna stop and eat when we wanna!! And, I like having the truck for the storage of my stuff I buy! I might would fly if we got SW $99 RT again- that's why we flew once. But, then again, maybe not- just depends on flight times and such.

We feel the same way. We have never flown to WDW, but we like the same things you do. We also don't like the cost vs. time ratio. Randy did send me texts this morning to tell me times. It took them a little over 2 hours. They left the house 2 hours before the flight, and the drive takes 45 minutes. We estimated 6 hours assuming they would do as recommended and arrive 2 hours before take off. That's the beauty of it though. Everyone gets to do what they want.

So, the boys and I are off to see the Princess & the Frog with my mom, sister, & godchild today.

Randy has been sending us messages since they landed. They enjoyed their dinner at Sanaa last night. He said it was "excellent." They are at the MK today. He sent me a pic of the Space Mountain line. It was out the building. I'll keep updating as he sends us messages.

I'll try to get in an update of my own today.

Hi Megan! I just got back from my trip so I'm all caught up now. You and Randy are funny. I have to agree with Bryan, the driving makes more sense in your case. Saving $800 bucks and having a car would be worth it to me, and I HATE long drives.

How was The Princess and the Frog? I'm going to take my niece and nephew to see it as part of their Holiday gift! I'm having a hard time not just going to see it by myself now, I'm so excited about it!

Every year for Christmas there is a rather large light display in the City Park in New Orleans. The boys LOVE to go. I don't like to go during the weekend because it is too crowded, so I wait until I get off of school to head out there on a weeknight. We went there last night with my mom, sister, and godchild (the little girl in all the pictures - Rebekah).

My mom and all got to my house yesterday around 4:30. After one last bathroom break, we bid farewell to Bryan and were on our way around 4:50. We got to City Park right around 6. My WDW touring experience came in handy because everyone lined up on one side of the ticket booth. I did the walk a little further to find another ticket booth with a shorter line idea. Wouldn't you know it was a two-sided booth. Everyone was lining up on the side facing the entrance. If you walked the ten steps to the other side of the booth, you found the lines 2 or 3 people deep instead of 20-30 people deep.

We headed through the gates, and my mom (amazingly) found someone she knew and wanted to talk to. My sister took a picture of the boys and I while we waited.

We made everyone go to the bathroom before we started, and we then got everyone a cup of hot chocolate. Now we are ready and on our way. Some of these pictures ended up too dark, so I'll explain a lot of it.

After we got out of the area with all the rides, we stumble upon the Caun Night Before Christmas. The kids stood at the rope lights and watched the lights tell the story.

We continued on to the train garden. The kids love this part. They could stay there forever and watch the trains go around the tracks. The setup is HUGE!

Afterwards, we continued along the path and found the butterfly garden.

The next garden area is the part with the dancing lights. If I were to pick one part as their favorite, this would be it! They run around the fountain and dance to the music. They have so much fun. We must have sat on the bench to let them dance and play for at least 15 minutes.

We then moved on to the laser show. They are never very interested in the laser show, so we took a quick glance at it and moved on.

We let Sam and Bekah each take turns being the line leader through the maze of shrubbery (they called it a maze, but the shrubs are around your knees...not enough to get lost). They ooohed and aaaahed at all the lights. We checked out the fossil room near the poinsettia tree. They had fun checking those out last night. My mom used to be a math and science teacher, so she really enjoyed teaching them a few things.

We wandered around the gardens a bit more when the kids started saying they were a bit cold. We let them climb inside the light tree.

We then headed back to the exit, but we had one more thing to do. We always ride the carousel once when we come see the lights.

We stopped to eat dinner and then headed back to the house. We had a lot of fun.

Today, I am heading out to get my last 2 gifts, and my godchild's birthday is today. We are going eat as a family tonight.

Megan,
It looks like your family had a wonderful time...the kids look so happy! (Ashton loved the trains, too!)We did the Oaks last year, for the first time since Katrinia...skipped it this year...thinking about doing Lafeneire Park on Christmas Eve this year...I use to love to do the drive through and than ride the train and carousel!

BTW: my DH and I agree with you & Bryan --we enjoy saving the expense of flying vs driving (we normally add US/IOA to our vacay--a day each--so, having our own car is ideal)...it is a hard drive we always do in one day...we are thinking about stopping this next trip (bet we don't  )...

Have a wonderful Christmas!
:santa: Connie

We are beyond excited right now!!! Star Wars Weekend dates were announced a little while ago. Just like we had hoped, we will be there for the first weekend. I told Sam, and he began jumping up and down in excitement screaming at the top of his lungs.

Just in case any of you don't know, the dates are the last 2 weekends in May (21-23 & 28-30) and the first two weekends in June (4-6 & 11-13).

Thanks! We did have a great time! Last year was our first time again since Katrina too. I likd the drive through as well, but I have a greater appreciation for it too now that we can only do the walking tour.

Thanks! I was just trying to explain our point of view to Randy. We both like to be right and show others how right we are. I just wanted him to understand why we thought the way that we did instead of thinking that we were nuts.

Merry Christmas to you as well.:santa:

Hey Abby! I'm glad to see you back. I look forward to hearing about the trip.

Randy and I just have our ways of trying to make the other one agree with us.

The movie was great. Sam ended up satying home, and Cooper & I went with each other. He really liked it. He even asked to go back and watch it again.

The boys (Bryan included) are soooo excited about it being SWW again.

Go see it! It was really good. A couple of south LA stereotypes in there, but that's okay.

It was very fun! A great big hooray for SWW!!

I just noticed the ticker a little while ago that the ticker said 5 months. WOO HOO!!!!

Looks like you all had a great time.
Yay for being there during star wars. I completely avoided it during my May trip and I ended up regretting it.

First Yay for being under 5 months!!!!!

Second, looks like you all had a great time at the Celebration. I love the picture of you with your boys...too sweet!

Third, thanks for the SWW info....I may have to send my DH with you, my girls don't appreciate Star Wars as much as he would like them too...:lmao:

Last, have a wonderful Christmas Megan!:santa:

Hey Megan- I swear we are almost the same person- lol! My boys are also thrilled about SWW! I just had to redo my ADRs and all to account for that! They are so excited- well, DH is at least -we haven't told DS yet, but he will be. They were watching SW on Spike tonight.
We wanted to go see the lights so bad this year and just could not get it in. I love seeing your pics- hopefully, we can make it next year with Nate being older and easier then.
Oh, and thanks for the updates. I have wondered if we'd liek Saana- sp??- since we're staying at AKV, I figure we should try it at some point!

Merry Christmas if I'm not back before then!

Thanks! We all had a wonderful time. I am not a Star Wars fan, but I appreciate the love that Bryan and the boys have for it, so I just go along for the ride. We had a great time there last year.
