Lynn - :grouphug: :furious: :scared1: :sad1: pixiedust: :charac2: :worship: :love2: ...sorry.

very quiet day without the boss....trying to spend our budget till the end of the year (which is June 30 for us)....at times, this is fun. :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We'll be at the school all night - information meeting for our musical next fall - AIDA.....uh-oh, no time to cook again, yea! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Bob has off tomorrow ....anyone want to bother him, go right ahead - I've got a list of chores for him - I'm sure he would LOVE to chat. :woohoo:

Oh, another "boy" episode last night.....(OH, how I WANT girls) - Tyler tells me he had his German final today....TODAY....i thought finals were NEXT week....he tells me not to stress! I'm now counting the hours till he is OUT.....2 full days, 4 half days.

Oh how glad I am to be off now!! However, if my kids' attitudes are any indication of my summer, I am going to work at McDonald's!! I asked John to do two simple things while I was at work. He was alone 9-2:30 and did NEITHER, but he was "just getting ready to" when I got home!! NOT!!!!!!!! :furious:

I spent an hour looking for gas for the grill. Apparently everyone in the county was out! Then when I found it, the guy loaded my car with an EMPTY tank!! I had to go back. :furious:

Maybe I am getting all the kinks out early?? :confused3 The kids were invited to a swimming/birthday party tomorrow! I am going paint shopping and get the "bachelor pad" ready to paint. But, if John doesn't straighten up, he will be living in a tent!!!

For JoAnn and Lynn :grouphug: :grouphug: to get you through the rest of your school year. How does your school year run Lynn?? It is obviously different from ours.

 Lucy to make it through until WDW

 Debi to you for making it each day with your store situation and I know you miss Allie so much!!!

Where is Allie???? :wizard: Did you get the letter from my kids?? :confused3

Where's my man JT/Billy Bass??? :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

and Kathy??? Where are you girlfriend???? :wave2:

OHHH!! I just saw my school ticker!! I believe it was JoAnn who recommended that I get this one!! Thanks JoAnn!! :thumbsup2

How we lookin'???? PRETTY GOOD!!! :moped:

aRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOk, I got that out of my system!! WTG, Jenny! We have exactly until the 14th for the last kid day and the 15th for the last teacher day! We are now in the home stretch. I'm not going to complain b/c today one of my students wanted a hug! I thought that was sweet! I'm going to make it!!

Hope all are well this LAST DAY OF MAY! Let's here it for summer!!!

Ok Jenny it goes like this
These are the next academic year's dates 2006/2007

Autumn term
1st Sept til 20th Oct 2006
one weeks break we call this half term
30th Oct til 15th Dec

Christmas Holiday 2 weeks

Spring term
3rd January til 9th Feb
one week break (half term)
19th Feb til 30th March

Easter Holiday 2 weeks

Summer term
16th April til 25th May
one week break (half term)
4th June til 25th July

Summer Holiday 5 weeks

so we are just about to go into our final 7 weeks of the year, I have just admitted 2 little boys from Minnesota, they were not impressed when I explained they had another 7 weeks of school, they had just finished the year in the US!!!!
But there was some good news one had just finished grade 3 in the States, his age over here puts him in year 4 for us so he'll do half a term in year 4 and then in Sept he'll be in year 5, he couldn't wait to let his friends know that he'd be in grade 5 come Sept!!!!! The other one will be year 2 now and year 3 in Sept and he's just finished grade 1 in the US.
So they are happy but I think they are going to struggle especially the one going from grade 1 to our year 3, unfortunately our system is very rigid and we have to place children by age

Wow, Lynn, that's quite a schedule! I wouldn't mind those breaks throughout the year. You can save a lot of money by going away during some of those times! We have a long break in the summer and then very few breaks except for a day or two during the school year. We get about a week off at Christmas and Easter and that's it! :guilty:

I think everyone else's schedules are more flexible than ours! :confused3

I think Lynn's schedule is interesting as well. It would really cut into my baseball time though! ;) I bet their kids don't lose as much over the course of their vacation time like ours do. :confused3

Yes, it is 3:45 a.m. and after two hours, I finally just got up!! :sad2: I have way too much on my mind of things to do... :badpc:

be on your mind at 3:45 in the MORNING?!!! School is over, Jenny.
Maybe you are just feeling guilty :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: because you know the rest of us are still doing the end of year stuff, getting up in the morning, etc. etc. etc. WELL, get over it.....come August, we'll be stress-free and won't be getting up at 3:45 AM (when you are at school :lmao: ).

I DO love Lynn's schedule. To be able to book vacations during off seasons is not such a bad thing. It is really HARD on the kids to start up in August again after all that time off. :woohoo:

YIKES, 8:15 and my boss is here already....guess who needs to be good today? :furious:

Ahh but you see guys what is the off season to you in the US is high season here in the UK as all the holiday places have these schedules and put their prices up during the holidays. Therefore to fly to the US on Oct 19th costs £200, on the 20th £400. Us teachers get pretty mad... you can understand paying more for better weather etc but just because it's the school holidays seems unfair. It also leads to families taking their kids out of school to get cheaper deals They are allowed 10 days a year with the headteacher's discretion, but as teachers we are not allowed any holiday in termtime!!!

Teachers in our corporation get 13 days a school year. We can use these in any way, but if we take 5 or more together, we must have written permission. I tend to "travel" more with my days even though I have small children. My kids are very healthy. My two girlfriends end up using all their days with their sick kids (they each have three kids also), plus having to take days w/o pay (0UCH!). Some parents really get sh*&&y about teachers being gone, but the days don't do you any good when you retire (or not much), so why waste them? It keeps me sane!! Years ago we got 10 sick and 3 personal days. We had to use them as such, however that just encouraged people to "lie". In those days I DID NOT take off so much because I am not a good fibber!! I have guilt feelings! Now, our days are our days.

Students can take "vacation" days, but they have to apply, get all their work ahead of time, and turn it in on the return date or no credit. Most kids who take the days are the kind that can handle it and really spending time with their family is really important. Sometimes it's a case where Dad or Mom's work is sending the parent, so it gives them the opportunity to go to. Who cares if it's during school. They'll learn despite being in class!

Ok, let me chime in! THIS WEATHER SU#$S! We have had a blistering heat wave here in Pennsylvania with high humidity. Sorry, I had to get that out of the way. :furious:

I want to work in Jenny's district! We really can't take off for vacation days during the school year and we have very few extended vacations. Lynn, we have the same problem, the rates are quite high during all our limited school breaks. I'm trying to make it work, though. I try to go away for mini-vacations during the year. To me, any trip is worth it, so I pay!

Anyway, I CAN'T WAIT FOR OUR NEXT REUNION! WE WILL HAVE A BLAST! :rotfl:

And yea, Jenny, I can't wait until I CAN'T sleep b/c school's out, WTG girl! :dance3: :yay: :cheer2: :cloud9:  :happytv:

LOVE THE NEW SMILIES!! TV GUY IS JUST TOO MUCH! :happytv:

Look, there's one that was made just for me!!! :laundy: and then there's this one! :drive: How fun!!

Still no Kathy, JT/BB, Debi or Allie! What's up with that? Come and visit us even if it is a short one! :wave2:

Jenny Joann and I need jobs please we like the sound of 13 days...Keith can take care of himself if he is sick...one more holiday left back to the grindstone on Monday ...Lets live it up tomorrow!!

new smilies....this IS my day :artist: hey, check out this one - made just for me! (working in the art department :artist: :artist: )....

and then, Ms. Jenny thinks this one is for her! :laundy: thank goodness there isn't one of children not having cereal in the morning or that one would be in her signature :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:mickeybar I would have cried if this one would have gone away!

I just had a depressing thought.....2 months from today, we'll be flying home from Disney :sad2: :scared1: :sad1: :(

Tyler took his gym clothes out of his backpack this morning from the entire year...he advised me I might want to wash them...."they smell"! :scared1:

JoAnn - won't be long! :beach:

Still my favorite, when I think of each and every one of you: :grouphug:

:beach: Thx Lucy, I love this one!

:laundy: Remember the weekend that I cleaned the laundry room instead of my whole house??

:dance3: This is my favorite one!

:teacher: I made it through another week of he$$ and humidity, it was horrendous this week! No matter what 1 1/2 weeks to go, here! :moped: I am ready and my poor students are REALLY ready. It's impossible to concentrate in this weather. I am pulling out all my tricks to keep them motivated......

What is everyone doing this weekend?....two soccer games here.......
