are you 'signing off' for the next 5 months? :confused3 :confused3

SO, today is Fasnacht Day here in the Pa. Dutch Country....ah,
that statement should get a post from Lynn, don't 'ya think?
Does anyone know what I'm talking about (I'm sure JoAnn does)......
Also, Happy Mardi Gras - I'm wearing my beads today. party:

Tyler had his first 2-hr. delay today - a surprise when we woke up this morning...snow....maybe this is our onion snow.....another confusing statement for the "Brits"! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I am hoping for pictures from Deb and Micco.....I can't wait to see our girl at work. Also, Ms. Jenny returns today....good, the girl has got to go back to work.

Of course when I logged on last night to NW airlines I had intentions of checking in. HOWEVER I discovered a CANCELLED FLIGHT!! :scared: Thanks NWA for that notification! :headache: I am now sitting in the hotel waiting for a cab (Mark is in class) to DFW. I now get to travel through MEMPHIS!!:crazy2:

Mark was all depressed this morning that I was leaving and I was getting upset too. I will miss the oaf! :worried: I sure miss the kids though. Mallory is ready for me to come home. She went to school today, but when I called her teacher she said she's really quiet. :scratchin Definitely a sign she isn't herself yet! She still isn't eating either.

Now, I can start getting ready for WDW!!! :thumbsup2: :Pinkbounc I can't believe it's been a year for us. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

WOW WHAT AN AWESOME WEEKEND WE HAD pixiedust:

We had such a great time in Disney this weekend. So here's how it went:

We took our cousins Annmarie and Fred (Alex's godparents) and thie kids with us, that was Alex's big surprise. Our flight was 2-1/2 hrs delayed because of high winds here in NY. By the time we got to Orlando, it was after 9. Waited for DME for a little bit, then were on our way. When we got to All Star Music, we hit a parked car (great - huh) so our trip was delayed even more. I knew he was going to hit that car, I was sitting in the back of the bus and saw the whole thing. Anyway, we all had to fill our forms saying we weren't hurt, then had to switch buses. By the time we got to the hotel it was about 11:30. Micco and I went with Alex to her apartment because we brought food for her and she was going to stay at the hotel for the w/e, so we wanted to get the food in the fridge. Hung out there for about an hour with a few of her new friends, then got back to the hotel by about 2:00. Annmarie had a problem with the luggage, they werden't going to bring it to us until the next morning, but her and the kids went down and got it. How can you tell 7 people they have to sleep in their clothes? Give me a break.

Anyway, now the fun begins. Alex was at Chef Mickey's Sat morning and we had breakfast there, got some great pictures. :earsboy: She got off at 1 and spent the rest of the day with us. We had dinner at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. Our friends, Jerry and Kathy, came from Clearwater for the day and spent the night with us. We also took 3 of her friends out to dinner, so we were a party of 13, and it was a PARTY!!!  She took a personal day on Sunday, and we did all 4 parks in 1 day. Yes, that's right, ALL FOUR PARKS IN ONE DAY!!! Went to DAK in the morning and rode EE. Jenny - It was awesome, Marshall is going to love it!!!!! We then went to the MK to see her friend DJ in Toon Town. Then went to MGM to ride Tower (where her friend Rich was working) and then finished up at Epcot with dinner at Le Cellier. Dinner was awesome! We then went back to the MK for extra Magic hours and stayed until the park closed at 1.

Yesterday, my cousins left in the morning and Micco, Briana and I went to the MK just to see Alex at work. :earsgirl: All we did the whole day was ride the train once and watch her. You don't even want to know how many times we cried while watching her interact with the guests. She was AMAZING!!!! From little children, handicapped children, to young and adult adults, she made veryone smile. She is so in her element and we are so proud of her. It was hard to leave her at the end of the day. She was on her last set. We had taken a picture with the photographer a little earlier, so I went and purchased it and then we stood on her line again and got her to sign it! Then I said "We'll be back in April Minnie, I can't wait to see you then" Unfortunately, at that point she lost it, was crying for almost 5 minutes, and almost had to leave her set. Sorry Alex, didn't mean to do that to you. We must have looked like morons, hugging Minnie and then walking off crying (2 adults and 1 teenager) Took lots and lots of pictures.

I am going to copy the pictures onto discs and send them to you guys. Just let me know who wants a copy.

Jenny - Alex is looking forward to seeing you guys when you come down, I am sure when she is off, she will go around with you if you want. And she's good for getting in back door sometimes when there is a line. I will email you her cell #, she can tell you where and when she will be working, she will probably have her schedule next week for then.

JoAnn - When we go down in April, Alex should have a day or two off. She said she would like to take us to a CM only recreation area where there's lots of stuff to do, she is allowed to bring guests. So if you guys are interested, we will try to plan that as we get closer.

OK, now July isn't looking as bad as I thought. Micco mentioned it several times this w/e, and says that it makes sense for us to go. Alex is probably going to come home for the summer, but she may go down and work for 2 or 3 weeks. If we stay in Disney for a week, she can stay with us and not have to pay rent at Vista. And then we can see her work and she will also have some time off with us. If we do come, we are planning to stay at BW, so we can all be together. We will start working on it. If he gives me the go ahead, I will book it. What are the dates again????

Wait till you guys see her in action, you are just going to love it. And it may even bring some of you to tears...yes you too Lucy .

We got in at 1:00 lat night, and I am exhausted today.

All in all it was an awesome w/e, as I said before. I miss her already, but know she is in really good hands and having the time of her life!!

Oh and BTW, she got her color coding and can do DCT parade, Spectro, Fantasmic, and lots of other stuff. It is so exciting. Maybe we will see her in DCT parade in April, JoAnn. That would be so exciting!

Anyway, gonna run. Lucy - I hope you had a great birthday yesterday, I was thinking of ya while we were at the MK. :bday:

Debi

Ok lucy you got me hooked good and proper Onion Snow? Fasnact Day??? Are you sure you're not making these up?
BTW loved Desperate Disney princesses Thanx

DEBS!!! I am so glad to hear what a great time you guys had! I cannot imagine the pride you guys felt when you saw her working. I have no doubt in my mind that she was fantastic!! :thumbsup2 I am definitely in on the picture list! I cannot wait to see them! :hyper:

Keep working on that July idea. Mark & I will be there July 23-Aug. 2. I see a great big bar tab coming!!! :cool1:

I will definitely call Alex. We fly down a week from Sat. (March 11th). Wouldn't it be cool if she were working Chef Mickey at the time of Marshall's birthday dinner there??? ;)

I must go and get laundry started. I am wipped out from the travel. I did enjoy going through the Elvis Store at the Memphis airport this afternoon! :lmao:

omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm so Psyched!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If you guys go in July, I'm going to make sure T&T come too! Jess has a FH tournament that weekend. BTW, we are only going for the weekend July 28-31. Lucy and Jenny are going at least a week before that (hope that helps.)I have made a tentative Segway ressie for sat morning (sounds sort of fun!) Anyway, as soon as you decide, Let me know so I can add the girls!

As far as April goes.............we're up for anything...........I have made a ressie for us at the Cal Grill (never been there, heard it was cool, if you're interested, let me know and we'll add everyone.) That's really all we have set up. Oh yea, we plan to visit Universal on one day also. I am dying to go in April, it's been a stressful year at school and I'm so crazy to see our Minnie......no surprise that's she's great.... :goodvibes .....totally fits her personality!! :thumbsup2 Lynn & Keith, we know you can't go in July socome in April!!!How much fun would that be?? Kathy?? :crowded:

Thx for all the updates, sounds like an amazing trip!! :cheer2:

Welcome back, Jenny, perhaps it's time to develop our end of the year countdowns??? :moped:

YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!!!!!!!!!!!! pixiedust:

:cold: :cold: :umbrella: tomorrow, we are supposed to get another storm. The good news: Maybe Micco will need to plow some snow, then they can definitely commit to our summer reunion, right, Debs?!!! :cheer2: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:
The bad news: probably JoAnn will have a snow day and that will mean another day tagged on to the calendar at the end of the year. :sunny:
Me? I'll be at work no matter what. :(

I can't stop thinking about this summer, and how, last year at this time, we didn't even know each other pixiedust: pixiedust:
I'm planning on sending a letter to Disney and telling them about this unique friendship and how it all started on The Magic. ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo :goofy: pluto: :donald: :tink:

Oh, Lynn, the onion snow: in our area, the last snow of the season, we call the onion snow because the farmers start planting their onions for the season. Tomorrow's storm is sounding like more than an onion snow....an onion snow is also a very light dusting of snow.
Fasnacht Day is also what some people call Fat Tuesday. Local woman make these donuts, not your normal donuts, but very heavy plain donuts. You are supposed to eat these and then starting on Ash Wednesday, you give up these kinds of foods.
Pa. Dutch traditions can be very strange. Don't even ask me about the pig stomach the Pa. Dutch eat :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

JoAnnYou will absolutely LOVE the California Grill. It is still one of my favorites. You definitely have to be up there when they do Wishes. Nothing is served during that time, the lights are dimmed and the music is piped into the restaurant! They used to have a deck off the North end of the restaurant for you to go out on and watch, but someone told me it was gone. I am not sure on that one! ENJOY!!

Rough day back. ST wasn't exactly prepared for the day and I picked up the slack..... Don't mind helping, but it wasn't that she was overwhelmed, just not "on top of things"! When the cat's away, the mice will play! Had meetings all afternoon........BORING! :( I left thinking my special ed. confences were April 12 and returned to find out they will be Tuesday! Now I have all that paperwork to do before then!! Plus, her final evaluation! :crazy2: I am going to bed!!! I guess that's the price you pay for having fun! :goodvibes

BTW JoAnn ~ I added the School's out counter (how fitting it that today!!)

Where's Kathy????

:scratchin Has JoAnn convinced JT and his love wife to join us in July yet???

Ok, I'm never doing the ST thing ever again! I appreciate the help but it's like having 10 more kids!! The other day, she was letting the kids put stickers all over their face! Thx for the recommendation about CG. I always forget to book there and even this time, it was tough to get a ressie. :smooth:

Lucy, you're terrific..........I think we may get a delay but I doubt if we'll be closed. I don't want anymore snow days! It's March!! :sunny: Yes, we broke 4 months (I know, I know, you guys are going before we are!) Definitely tell Disney about us (maybe they'll put us in a commercial or hire us to go on tour promoting DIScruise, etc. You know Oprah, Dave, Regis & Kelly, the View) We may all have to give up our day jobs.....hey, really, you never know!

So I created the countdown for my school year...............it's pathetic the difference between mine and Jenny's!

is having snow, as 'we speak' (I checked the weather channel) - Micco, get out there and plow that snow.....Debs, call that number and reserve that room. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

At present, we are having some nasty weather, lots of sleet, freezing rain and snow to come. :cold: I am at work, but it is very quiet here. Tyler had a snow day. My boss isn't coming in.....uh, oh...... :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

ok Lucy we don't have Onion Snows but we do have 'Fat Tuesday' but we call it Shrove Tuesday ie the day you are shriven of your sins. We don't eat donuts but we make pancakes ( english ones very different from your pancakes, not risen, bigger and thinner but not really a French crepe either something inbetween) We eat them traditionally with Sugar and Lemon but nowadays people use jam and syrup as well.
At School on Shrove Tuesday all the kids bring in a frying pan and pancakes and we have races, where the kids have to toss their pancakes in the pan as they run along a course, Its alot of fun, then Lent starts on Ash Wednesday.

Well, believe it or not, Lucy was RIGHT! We had a snow day today, however, no snow and very little ice! It was SUPPOSED to be icy, so they cancelled school! Oh well, more home clean-up. The two college girls are returning tomorrow, so I had another day to prepare and go food shopping!

Sounds like a fun day, Lynn! I guess you guys didn't have a day off today?!

So now, my school year moves back another day! :guilty: Oh well, it's one less day with my ST! :cool2: (How horrible is it that I said that??) :crazy2:

Mark seems to be having a time getting out of Dallas. He dropped off the two ladies that work with him with luggage at the terminal. They were all going to fly stand-by at 3:30. However, by the time he dropped the car, took the train, etc. the stand-by "line" was closed. They called his cell to tell him to hurry (which he was) but he told them to keep going, get through security, and get on the plane. He would try to make it, but to go on home if he didn't. Needless to say, he didn't!! So, now his plane #2 didn't show. (must be that east coast stuff). He should take off at 7:15 if all goes well (and they find a plane and crew ) :rotfl:

I win the "bad Mommy of the year award" today. Marshall was up last night with severe leg cramps. He got to feeling better, but got extremely tired at school. Unfortunately, this is the night that his class goes to the Indy Zoo and SPENDS THE NIGHT!! They do things all evening and 1/2 of the day tomorrow. He was determined to go. I know his teacher is going to hate me, but I let him. I don't think he was in any shape to go. Very listless and tired. No fever, no red throat, no stomach ache, no nothing other than the major fatigue. I told him that if he just "had to go" he was going to have to "suck it up" and not be a burden unless he was so sick he couldn't go anymore. So, I probably will be driving to Indianapolis at 3 a.m. to get him!! :coffee: I just caved because he's my only kid who loves all this kind of stuff and we do not! Not Mark, myself, John or Mallory! This is a real opportunity too for him to go on his own. (I purposely didn't volunteer because he is with me at school every day, he needs his own identity!). I stayed until they left the lot thinking he'd cave and come home, but he didn't.... I know that she is just hating me! :scared:

BTW Lucy the weatherlady ~ I woke up to 60 degree weather and it is now 37 degree weather. :cold: :cold: :cold: Mark said yesterday (of course after I left) that they reached a record high 93 degrees!!! :crazy2:

TGIF tomorrow! One week until Spring Break!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc:

(Edited 11:20 p.m. ~ Just as projected I just got back from Indy with Marshall! I knew it! Poor kid!!)

Jenny, I hope that Marshall is feeling better soon. Owen and Amy have been remarkably healthy this year. Owen hasn't been sick at all and Amy has only missed two days of school due to a little cold with fever in November. They usually both get sick over Christmas Break...but not this year!

JoAnn, Have you been following the threads about the DCL waitlist for the Med Cruises? I confirmed with Sandi at All Seas that we are on the list. They faxed our request to Inventory control on 10 Aug 05. You were linked to us so I would assume that you are on the list too. As you've probably read, DCL will begin clearing the waitlist on 28 Mar. Sandi will need to know what date you're planning to sail and all of your details so she can book it for you through DCL.

Lynn, Are you on the DCL waitlist? Do you use a TA or do you book directly through DCL? I just want to be sure that we all get Tier 1 pricing. By the time we booked the Mexican cruise the day after the dates were released the price had already gone up by over $1000.00 for our stateroom.

Hi Debi, It sounds like Alex is having the time of her life down there! I'm sure I would have been crying right along with you last weekend. I hope we get to see you all in April. We came very close to booking a 3-night Wonder cruise 6-9 April since DCL has military rates available but we don't want to disappoint my Aunt and Uncle in Englewood. We're scheduled to visit them 6-9 April. We thought about taking them along but they just returned from a RCL cruise a couple of weeks ago. And Ted figures 25 nights on the Magic next year will be enough. He has no interest in seeing Nassau again either. We'll be in Vero Beach 9-14 April. If you and JoAnn and I can pick a date that week, we'll drive over to WDW to see you. We hope that we can see Alex in action too. Owen and Amy would love that!

Lucy, It was 80 degrees here yesterday. Today it'sonly predicted to reach 46 degrees...crazy weather. We haven't had any snow this year. I'm glad I took the kids skiing a couple of weeks ago.

I was just thinking that maybe we could change our VB reservation to end on Thursday instead of Friday and then we could come over and spend the night at WDW before flying home on Friday. Where are you guys staying? I just tried to call Member Services but they're closed for the weekend.

I'm really about these great weather reports!! We're in a nasty cold spell (24 today!) Sorry about Marshall, Jenny, the worst part of our job is when our kids get sick at the wrong time. It really stinks (Jess missed an important tournament last weekend for the same reason.) Did Mark get home yet? :moped:

Thx, Kathy, I tried to call Sandy a million times a few weeks ago and we kept missing each other. Can you PM the number again? I will try. Do you know a good time to call when I can get her? My date is probably the last one in June or the last one in July. I know I keep changing my mind. The factors are my school schedule, Jessica's field hockey schedule and Tara's portfolio school schedule. It's impossible! Let's definitely pick a date and get together in April.

Mark walked in shortly after midnight from Dallas. Sadly he should have been home by 8:00 at the latest, but he missed the first plane, then TWO planes didn't show (caught somewhere). He is exhausted! :guilty: Marshall is o.k. He stayed with my friend today and seemed to rally, but I have noticed him slowing down this evening.

Kathy ~ Funny how kids are. Unfortunately, I had opened my big mouth last Sat. on the way to the airport about how lucky we had been with our kids being so healthy this winter!

Looked at the 10 day forecast (Lucy's rubbing off). Orlando is LOOKING GOOD! :wizard:

JoAnn ~ ST hit a low and we had a "discussion" about it. :rolleyes1 Her supervisor showed up today and boy was she sweating! I think personally she was sweating because she knew, but tried to deny the lack of "enthusiasm" for lack of a better word. :confused3 I think her enthusiasm is worried about her boyfriend when she goes to Australia the 15th for three months! AHHHH to be young again! :stir:

Wow, Jenny, you only have 8 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, I'm alittle jealous!! :rotfl2: Have fun planning!

I had an intense conference last week due to my ST, and now I dodge bullets everyday to avoid more problems, I don't know if it's immaturity OR A POOR CAREER FOR HER! Whew! What a nightmare! I should put in a countdown for this!!! :guilty:

Hmmmmmmmmm, WHERE IS LUCY?? :smooth:

Tracy is home from college, Tara will follow, then they have to pack for Miami next week!! Jealous again! :sunny:

I'm still optimistic...........Spring is around the corner!! :wave2:
