Did you and hubby decide where you are going for that romantic getaway before baby comes?
my dh was looking online for somewhere different for getaways this summer and he found this out on Plum Island

http://www.blueinn.com/

looks pretty cool, and plus Newburyport is right there on the mainland, with all its great shopping and restaurants :thumbsup2

Plum Island is very close to where I used to live. I do not recommend it, quite crowded, houses are on TINY lots, and a beach that is being swept away. Some home are being lost to the sea.

Now, Newburyport is fun, and has places in it to stay.

If you are a fried clam fan, in Ipswich is Woodman's, the original, and also the Clam Box is near by. Both fabulous, the Clam Box I know has limited hour before summer, I think Woodman's is always open.

Now I am homesick again...

If you go all the way to the end to the wildlife refuge, I think thats the nicest part of the beach out on plum island.......
way out to Sandy Point
have you been to Plum Island lately? some of those tiny houses are gone and mc mansions in their place!!

love love woodmans and clam box,:thumbsup2 but our favorite is Farnhams in essex, right down the road from woodmans :)
looks like not much from the outside, but the food is sooooo yummy!!!

Hi fellow clam lover!!

The last time was summer of '09, when we knew we were moving so far from the ocean. I had thought of the bird refuge, I am not a fan of bird watching, but it is supposedly great there.

I have not eaten at the other place, and sadly will not now. After the last few clam dinners I felt a bit 'off' but thought it was the frying. Turns out I am now allergic to clams, and probably all shell fish. A cruel fate for a New Englander don't you think:scared1:

I do enjoy the coast North of Boston, just thought Plum Island a bit on the seedy side (like Salisbury!!) but glad to hear its perking up.

Cape Ann is another terrific area.

Kathleen

Forgot to add, if the other place looks worse from the outside than Woodmans I would be scared to eat there!! Why do all great clam places look so suspect?:rotfl2:

LOL, yes the other place looks bad! we used to drive by and think "who would go there?", I actually saw the guy on food network, Diners Drive Ins and Dives go to Farnhams, so that is what prompted us to try it a couple summers ago!

and to not eat clams/shellfish, yes a cruel fate for a new englander!

I also agree, Cape Ann is a nice place too, lots of nice places to stay

geez, I wish summer would get here already, or even just spring would be nice,
its snowing a blizzard here again today!

Wow! That place looks great! Thanks for thinking of us!

We actually decided to rent a cottage for an entire week rather than an Inn for 2-3 days... We found an adorable little four room place right on Lake Champlain for $450 for the week!

It is nothing fabulous but is exactly what we need... Just a bedroom, sitting room, kitchen, and bathroom. A deck off the back and a dock leading into the water... I cannot wait!
