Welcome to another edition of what can we do with our pins Mr. Ed.

So okay you have an awesome lanyard full of awesome pins, And you wont trade so you bite… if they are on the lanyard they should be traded you pin hog…. Err sorry I digress never mind, but do you really want to put those pins on your lanyard and take a chance on scratching, denting, or even chipping your Wet paint, or Scoop pin.

Well That Ed has found a way to keep your pins safe and secure so you can flaunt, err I mean show your prized beauties, and not be afraid of damaging them.

First you need a package of Scotch business Card ID protectors the cold laminating kind that requires no laminating machine, a pair of scissors, and a hollow box.

Next step get the laminate card, and your prized pin ready to transfer onto the laminate card.

Peel the laminate open, and be careful with the sticky part, place the laminate on an top of a hollow box sticky side facing up towards you, I used a tissue box in my experiment. Now carefully push your pin through the sticky part into the hollow box so that the back of the pin now rests on the sticky part of the laminate sheet.

Next fold the clear sheet onto the sticky sheet, be careful not to get any bubbles in it, go slow and be careful, the more time you take, the neater it will look.

Now your pin front will be seen through the clear plastic, its hard so it will not stick to the pin, but don’t put it in the direct sun or it may stick to your pin. Notice the air pocket around the pin seal it as close to the pin as you can get it sealing it with your fingers.

Next trim it with your scissors make sure not cut into the air pocket, make sure the air pocket is not breached or the laminate will eventually open up.

All that’s left is to put it on your lanyard and parade around without fear of damaging your pins.

Now suppose you meet a trader, and you trade your awesome lanyard pin but the other trader wants it out of the plastic. Easy just cut into the air pocket and free your pin.

The plastic laminate should last for a long time but wear and tear and constant movement may loosen it up just replace it; the laminate packets are like $2.50 for a pack of 10. And while its on your pins they are safe, secure, and even waterproof.

I hope this all helps, more later on the protection of your pins.

Now I know Ed has too much time on his hands!!:p

Question for ya, I don't know anything about this laminate stuff, but why does it not stick to the pin?

It does stick to the back of the pin, the front does not have sticky stuff on it... its just clear plastic, the sticky stuff will stick to the clear plastic to form the air tight seal.

Just call me Mr. Wizard.

Ed, you never cease to amaze me......or scare me, for that matter.
