OK, I'm ready to be blasted

.... I've been to the one in WDW for Cinderella's lunch and I don't see what the fuss is about. The restaurant is on the second floor, and although there are a few tudor-style windows, you do not get a view of the park from where you are seated. It's really rather dark... supposed to be medieval. You certainly don't "feel" like you're inside the castle.
The prices are similar to Ariel's grotto, although booking a spot is nearly impossible. I happened to book when they had just opened the character lunch, and no one had advertised the fact yet except here on the boards! The only benefit of the meal was that at WDW, it's nearly impossible to come across the princesses in the park for photos and autographs. From what I've heard, it's a lot easier at DLR.
The suite for "Year of a Million Dreams" is higher up in the castle. Not that would be magical!
