Hey Hey we're the Whiteheads, a pre trip report

did you say 12 degrees? yipes

Today was 7.5 degrees when I got up. In the middle of March, for cryin' out loud! To paraphrase Nebo, "Who turned down the spring?"

As for F&W, I have it in the back of my head to go once in Sept. and then again in November. Not sure if we can swing that, though.

Today was 7.5 degrees when I got up. In the middle of March, for cryin' out loud! To paraphrase Nebo, "Who turned down the spring?"

Whoa! That's even colder than we are!
I woke up to 8.5F, which is about average for us.

well here I am on the last day of our spring break and I have been a bad disser (again) Things have been pretty busy since a week aogo Fridy when we finished up at school and I was looking at a glorious week that I could use to do some yard work and catch up on the dis.
well it started going sideways Thursday before we finished up for spring break. we had an "incident" at work and it left me a bit sore and bruised but ok for the most part. lance is just glad it isn't him that is hurt this time.
coolest thing was my uncle's 90th birthday party/family reunion. haven't seem some of those folks for decades. heck lance hasn't even met my uncle. he has heard all about him but it was nice for a face to face meeting. My uncle was a big name in racing for many years so to see all the old racers or in once case the son of a racer was pretty cool. (my uncle is actually in the NHRA hall of fame yeah I am shamelessly bragging here.
I never realized he was that big of a deal he was just "uncle fritz" to us

so time for a quick shout out or two
Ponzie:
the tale of two towers so to speak is going to be difficult to go into without being a buzz kill for those who have never been.

for staters just the way they are located makes things different. I like the feel at the studios. you go off the beaten path so to speak and that gives you a feeling that you are at the Hollywood tower hotel.
out here you stand in front of ours and you see other attractions from the 'gate'
I know that sounds petty but I like the isolation of the entry at the studios.
the queues are fairly close and resemble each other and the preshow is the same
the ride itself is way more detailed and I think longer too. way more oohhhs and ahhhs on the wdw version and much more detail before you get to the drop sequence.
ours is fun wdw has much more wow factor.

as for tman still waiting for the tear down give it your best shot.

now onto the show:
things are supposed to begin warming up today (yeah right) and since this had origionally been our no park day we had no plans other than to go to chef mickey's and maybe check out some resorts on the monorail line. Instead since lance and I had missed out on tower we decided to head over to the studios and hop on a few rides and meet the kids at chef mickey's for breakfast.
as we shivered and chattered in line we struck up a conversation with a couple of Brazilian students who go to school in Kansas. they had decided to head to :beach:sunny florida to escape the cold (we felt their pain) they were nice kids and figured it would fun to see lights motors action since they feature a brazillian driver. also glad to see so many folks from back home. for the record we ran into lots of tour groups and they were very pleasant and friendly.
we went in and rode rocking roller coaster and tower of terror a few times and then went to a bus stop to head over to the contemporary and that is the first time we had to wait for a bus. the kids called us and we told them what we were doing and they met us at the studios :confused3why I don't know but even they noticed that the bus never seemed to show up. we to out there at 9:45 and the bus did not show up intill 10:30 ish. we had to pretty much jog from the bus to get to our 11am breakfast. I would be pretty ticked if I was paying to stay at the contemp or any other deluxe and got bus service like that.
well I hate to do this but once upon a time is on so ttfn

That's okay. It's the first day of Spring Break up here.

Things have been pretty busy since a week aogo Fridy when we finished up at school and I was looking at a glorious week that I could use to do some yard work and catch up on the dis.

Yark work? You shovel your yard?
Odd.

:rolleyes1:

we had an "incident" at work and it left me a bit sore and bruised but ok for the most part.

What happened????

lance is just glad it isn't him that is hurt this time.

Typical man. Hmpf.
Oh, wait. I are one.

coolest thing was my uncle's 90th birthday party/family reunion. haven't seem some of those folks for decades. heck lance hasn't even met my uncle. he has heard all about him but it was nice for a face to face meeting.

Nice.

I never realized he was that big of a deal he was just "uncle fritz" to us

That's cool. I don't follow NHRA but I am aware of it.
Is your uncle Fritz Voigt?

Ponzie:

buzz away.

Thanks for that! :)

as we shivered and chattered in line we struck up a conversation with a couple of Brazilian students who go to school in Kansas.

Were they shocked at the weather?

for the record we ran into lots of tour groups and they were very pleasant and friendly.

Interesting. From what I've read, your experience is atypical.

we to out there at 9:45 and the bus did not show up intill 10:30 ish. we had to pretty much jog from the bus to get to our 11am breakfast. I would be pretty ticked if I was paying to stay at the contemp or any other deluxe and got bus service like that.

That's typical for my City... but not for Disney.

well I hate to do this but once upon a time is on so ttfn

When ya gotta go, ya gotta go.
Thanks for the update! :goodvibes

hey ponzie!
as far as "the incident" at work we were in a testing window and they decided to put up a bunch of those inflatable bouncie things and a huge slide. well add in the freshman class (all 500 + of them) after they had been cooped up for a few years and things got a bit rough seems a few of them decided to see if they could tip over the 30 foot tall slide by running back and forth at the top. it was just awful. it was like it was raining kids and then we had to up right the thing and pull it over the other way to keep the kids off so we could get the paramedics back there. it was one hot mess.

and yes fritz voigt is my uncle. props for spelling it right. you are either a motor head or a good detective. as far as spelling voigt right congratulations. I worked for the same company for years and they never got it right. :crazy2:. also at the party was mickey Thompson's son danny and his first wife too. so fun to see her again. last time I saw Judy I was still in elementary school.

so back to my thrilling:rolleyes: trip report.
as you will recall we were trying to make it to chef mickey's for our ressie and had barely made it due to a loooonnnggg wait for the bus. as we trid to jog (ok lance sort of shuffled along like igor in young frankenstien)
but we made it in.
man what a view the contemporary has. Unbelievable. but we had to hustle in the restaurant and get our pic taken by the statue and then get seated.
for the record I had suggested the breakfast buffet at cape may but was out voted and the food was ok here but I prefer cape may for the food. the characters were great and miss scarlett thought it was way fun. they had a decent variety and even had lance's favorite salmon. memo to self, don't let hubby eat plate fulls of salmon at a buffet that is geared for kids. I think it may have not been changed out like some of the other stuff. For the record I did point this out to him but what would I know about that sort of thing.
they even brought out cupcakes for our anniversary and one for an early birthday for the little miss. she had a blast and now it is official, she has become "one of us" she had her first mickey waffle.

after breakfast we took a few minutes to enjoy the view from up here. I tried to explain to dear hubby that I could save him tons of money and we could have this view from our room if we bought into the DVC. he said we could stay at the regular moderates and visit the contemporary to enjoy the view:confused3 jeesh just trying to help.

after a bit we went to the monorail (which I really really like out here ours is just too short of a ride and it is more of a ride than a form of transportation ) and went to epcot.

we had been telling randy all about this great soda that we had tried here and just could not forget about. so we jumped on to or into the golf ball of world history and then off to club cool.
since we had not planned to be in any parks today (but thanks to magic bands from heck) we had a day of tickets to use so we decided to freestyle it today. but first a trip to have the son in law try that unique soda. oh and we saved that one for last. after trying all the different sodas we had to hunt for a working Beverly tap. I didn't get the camera ready in time but his face was so funny and then he said "you guys LIKE this" no we assured him we did not we just said it was unforgettable. he agreed. but then he though it might not be bad to have some of that at home. we all figure that when that one inlaw or friend that likes to drink all your good wiskey or rum you can tell them some big story about how this Beverly soda makes a great mixer and enhances the flavor of your liquor and therefore the only way to have it is to mix it with Beverly. and ta da your liquor supply stays intact.
we then decided to hit up the world showcase since we had no fp lined up. first stop mexico and it's a small Donald world.
scarlett thought it was pretty spiffy on the ride and we of course had to show the kids the tequila cave. I got a pom promer, proma, (oh you know the red fruit that has all the little red things inside and is supposed to be so good for you) margarita as did shawndell the guys passed and shared ours.
it was very strong but also very good.
we continued on to Norway and man was that place packed. huge lines for the frozen meet and greet but we bypassed that and went on maelstrom. this is a nice little ride and since lance needed to sit for a bit we finally watched the movie. it is really pretty.

Lance was running out of steam pretty quickly so we went around to Germany to show the kids the train set and we took the boat back to the front the kids hung out for the rest of the day.
we went back to kick back and raise the leg on some pillows and by the tie we got back lance not only had to rest his leg but his tummy as well (I tried to tell him to not eat so much luke warm salmon but  not too bad just major stomach ache. so I went and to him some sprite and we just kicked back for the rest of the day.
so far this vacation is not going all that well.

things I think
I think we need to take the rest of the day and evening off.
I also think that we need to consider renting a scooter for lance.
I think we have gotten lucky with the tour groups and am very glad not to have any of those stories to share
I think lance needs to listen to his wife a bit more (just sayin)
I think that the view from the contemporary is breathtaking
I also think that we need too figure out a way to stay there sometime (dvc maybe>)
well folks the shaking here in so cal has finally subsided but there were some shaking going on sat and sunday. always interesting when that happens. we used to joke that it was not really an earthquake until you were out in your driveway in your jammies asking the neighbors "did you feel that"
now it seems it isn't a real earthquake until your facebook feed loads up with posts saying "did you feel that"
seriously any of you with so cal friends on your facebook know what I am talking about I am sure.
take care and thanks for reading, have a great week

Great update! I have a funny Beverly story:

A couple of trips ago we went into Club Cool for some free soda. My DH decided to taste Beverly again, just to make sure he still didn't like it :confused3 and lo and behold, he still didn't like it. I was at a different dispenser so I decided to try the Beverly, just, you know, to make sure it was still awful. But it wasn't! I liked it!

So I'm needling my DH, saying, "MMMM, MMM! This is good!" and guzzling down cupfuls. He's like, "Waaaaht's going on..." And I say something stupid like, "You know, some people can taste things that others can't, like the bitterness in Brussels sprouts." I'm genius, I am. Then he looks at my cup and says, "Here, try one out of my dispenser." Which I do. :crazy2:

Turns out my dispenser was giving out nearly plain seltzer. Must have been out of syrup.

Whoops.

:lmao:

That was really funny. I pranked my brother into trying the Beverly. Best Day Ever! Maybe not for him...

Whoa. That doesn't sound like it went overly well.
You're okay, though? Just bumps and bruises, right?

and yes fritz voigt is my uncle. props for spelling it right. you are either a motor head or a good detective. as far as spelling voigt right congratulations. I worked for the same company for years and they never got it right. :crazy2:. also at the party was mickey Thompson's son danny and his first wife too. so fun to see her again. last time I saw Judy I was still in elementary school.

Not a motor head... or at least, not in NHRA.
But a little digging is all it took.

so back to my thrilling:rolleyes: trip report.

Stop rolling your eyes, lady. I'm enjoying it!

as we trid to jog (ok lance sort of shuffled along like igor in young frankenstien)

Oh, please tell me he kept saying, (in a sinister voice) "Yes, master."

the characters were great and miss scarlett thought it was way fun.

That's important.

they had a decent variety and even had lance's favorite salmon.

He has a favorite salmon? What's its name?
Wait... don't tell me.

It's Gill... no wait that's taken... Bob?

memo to self, don't let hubby eat plate fulls of salmon at a buffet that is geared for kids. I think it may have not been changed out like some of the other stuff. For the record I did point this out to him but what would I know about that sort of thing.

uh, oh.

they even brought out cupcakes for our anniversary and one for an early birthday for the little miss.

Love the Disney touches, no?

she had a blast and now it is official, she has become "one of us" she had her first mickey waffle.

I guess, I'm not "one of us"... never had mickey waffles.

I tried to explain to dear hubby that I could save him tons of money and we could have this view from our room if we bought into the DVC. he said we could stay at the regular moderates and visit the contemporary to enjoy the view:confused3 jeesh just trying to help.

Fine effort. I give it a solid 8.2

we had been telling randy all about this great soda that we had tried here and just could not forget about. so we jumped on to or into the golf ball of world history and then off to club cool.

Well, it is a rite of passage, isn't it?
I did it to all three of my girls.

I didn't get the camera ready in time but his face was so funny and then he said "you guys LIKE this" no we assured him we did not we just said it was unforgettable.

Too bad the camera wasn't handy.
Those shots are priceless.

"unforgettable"... that's one way to describe it.

but then he though it might not be bad to have some of that at home. we all figure that when that one inlaw or friend that likes to drink all your good wiskey or rum you can tell them some big story about how this Beverly soda makes a great mixer and enhances the flavor of your liquor and therefore the only way to have it is to mix it with Beverly. and ta da your liquor supply stays intact.

hmmmm.... not a bad idea.
Unless it backfires and your guest starts drinking 'em straight up.

I got a pom promer, proma, (oh you know the red fruit that has all the little red things inside and is supposed to be so good for you)

Pom pom made of granite.

we continued on to Norway and man was that place packed. huge lines for the frozen meet and greet but we bypassed that and went on maelstrom.

Oh! I was thinking, "Long lines for Maelstrom? Really?"
I didn't even think about Frozen... which I still haven't seen but everybody tells me is really good.

Lance was running out of steam pretty quickly so we went around to Germany to show the kids the train set

That makes sense. He was out of steam, so you went to a steam train to get him some more.

See? I'm following.

and we took the boat back to the front the kids hung out for the rest of the day.

we went back to kick back

took the boat back to front and went back to kick back

Ya got a way with words, lady.

I tried to tell him to not eat so much luke warm salmon but  not too bad just major stomach ache.

What do you think the odds are that he'd do it again?

so far this vacation is not going all that well.

That's too bad.

I think we need to take the rest of the day and evening off.

I think you're right.

I also think that we need to consider renting a scooter for lance.

I think that's a splendid idea... but will he allow it?

I think we have gotten lucky with the tour groups and am very glad not to have any of those stories to share

I think that while your vacation is not going well... with the groups at least, it could've been worse.

I think lance needs to listen to his wife a bit more (just sayin)

A husband who listens to his wife?
I can't imagine such a creature.

we used to joke that it was not really an earthquake until you were out in your driveway in your jammies asking the neighbors "did you feel that"

now it seems it isn't a real earthquake until your facebook feed loads up with posts saying "did you feel that"

Times change.

take care and thanks for reading, have a great week

Thanks for the chapter! :goodvibes
